The reason you can't go for dark is because larvitar is not a dark type. Pro tip

Tip: If you find it hard to see, you can enable and use the zoom feature on your switch so you can double-tap home and zoom in on the smaller section where just the pokemon are. Zoom setting is under system settings.

I just tried it, and watching all those Bagon pop out of the wall was a sight to behold! It took 5 minutes for a green Bagon to show up, and while it was the only shiny I saw during the sandwich buff, it has a mark (my first marked shiny!) and a fun story attached to it. I'll name her Wallis and always treasure her :D

Another thing to consider for not using Dark: unless things changed along the way, Larvitar & Pupitar are Rock/Ground...only final form Tyranitar is Rock/Dark. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

is my game broken? I am playing violet and with the dragon type sandwiches there are only Sableye appearing??

With the auto battle method. You can run forward a few steps to get your pokemon to start fighting, then walk back to the spot. I did this exact thing to auto farm foretres.

The way those Larvitars just keep spawning is so damn adorable 😂😂😂

If you are seeing sableye spawn with your sandwich make sure you didn't use sweet+sour herba mystica because it will give you dragon catching power not encounter power. Certain other herba combinations may cause this too. So make sure you read the sandwich guide carefully

Tested it out with only sandwich and the go raid feature, quite literally going AFK for 30 mins xD It was fun seeing my Tiny Lv100 Sprigatito obliterating regulars as a little over 5 shinies were chilling watching

they spawn a max of 15 per time so you can count as they come to quickly reset each time

Here is the best recipe for all shiny 1 cucumber 1 pickle 3 of the ingredients of the pokemon you're shiny hunting ie tofu for normal then 2 of any herba mystica

did this in the exact same spot for a Glimmet outbreak and got 3 shiny in the 1 Sando. very happy with this little gem of a spot :)

Well this is something I’ll try with other Pokémon, because luckily during my play through I found a shiny larvitar which was awesome

If you don't want to use herba you can make a great avocado sandwich (recipe 45) to spawn bagon and an ultra BLT sandwich (recipe 74) for larvitar. Testing on violet I got one rogue sableye spawn in an entire 30 minute dragon power 2 sandwich. you don't get the sparkling power buff, but you're saving herba. Also you can count the spawns and once you hit 15 no more will spawn so that's how you'll know when to picnic

The wall spawning made me laugh

I think there is another spot kinda like this for cyclizar just outside of the cave area where the tera Salamance is in. Make a dragon sandwich and stand just far enough outside the cave that you Don't spawn noibat and the cyclezar seem to just stampede past you towards the wall.

I'm still working on the main story and have been sick today so I haven't had a chance to get in on any special raid battles so this is awesome for a later time.

Damn i got the whole tyranitar line in brilliant diamond so now i can get the bagon line as a counterpart 💪

I hope this works in any cave for a different variety of pokemon to shiny hunt.

I think I have bad luck. But I tried this with the dragon sandwich buff + shiny charm, but sadly, no green bagons were spawned

Dude thank you for this! I got 2 shiny Bagon on one sandwich without charm. This definitely works great. Might do this a few times and make a few peoples day in surprise trade.

Curious with all these recipes. Why is Salty the preferred Herba? Do the others have a different impact?

Tip: this also works for Sableye, using the same exact method but using the Ghost recipe

This game is so much fun joined a 6* glaceon raid and caught it Turned out to be shiny!

Anybody having issues with the raids ? Like it freezes up mid raid and then when it comes back up have the time its gone

Having your pokemon auto battle as they come out the wall is very quick at respawning

I caught my first bagon here. There were so many sableye and bacon that I couldn't get out XD. I didn't know it was a glitch though. I turn around and it was completely flooded

I used a similar technique to get iron moth, it behaves pretty similar with fire encounting power at a certain spot, now it's time for bagon

I did this with no shiny charm, dragon lvl 2 sandwich, got a shiny in 8 min. It was fun watching them pop out too

There's a cave somewhere that does the same with glimlett if you get a glimlett mass outbreak there

Thanks Blaines! This is pretty cool. I got 2 shiny larvitar in 1 sandwich and then got a shiny sableye with a regular level 2 encounter power sandwich right at the end of the 30 minutes. Genius!

you can also find Dunsparce in the same spot so if anyone's looking for a shiny Dudunsparce a normal sandwich would probably be good too

instead of redoing picnic i just sent my pokemon out and stood there until there were a pack of shinys lol

For anyone doing this you can send out a pokemon to auto battle them as they come out once they come towards you a bit. It doesn't work with every pokemon but I got Gyrados to go over to them. I don't know why gyrados doesn't ever despawn when going pretty far but it does speed up as you don't need to use picnic as much and can let it go afk for a bit. Once he's over by where they spawn he lasts a few minutes before he comes back. EDIT: If you don't know your pokemon won't auto battle shinies so you don't need to worry about them getting KO'ED.

U can literally use the same method for orthworm and roeller in the same place and it works it's a matter of where you hunt where and I noticed your more rare spawns typically like to hang around the lighthouses or look outs

wouldnt that work with any pokemon that spawns there?(sableeye,gumshoos,makuhita etc.)

things to note: - check inside the walls every now and then - this works with the other cave pokemon too

Man good looking out for this!! I Managed to get the Larvitar with 2 lv2 sandwiches and no shiny power. He popped out right at the end of my 2nd sandwich. That’s 2 shinies now before post game

I tried doing sableye in here too with a ghost sandwich instead of dragon and got 2 shinies!!!

I tried other pokemon types in violet Normal spawn nothing Others type spawn a mix of bagon and sableye

I play Pokémon violet, and I was using a title power, three encounter powertrain, spoken poetry, dragon type sandwich, but it was still giving me only sable eye

I had the best run after doing this, got my bagon after 2 resets so I went to go check tatsugiri with the rest of the time, got a white shiny with the pompous mark and amazing stats!

Tip: use camera filters to differentiate the pokemons easier specifically larvitar

if you erase a move and relearn it in game you get full PP on that move. hope that helps someone.

Inviolate you can do the factory spawn for sableye in that same cave as well

fun fact: a pokemon cannot accidentally kill a shiny pokemon when auto battling. They just won't engage a fight with them.

Does anyone know what the actually ingredient is to get Ecounter power and not catching power on hamburgers for rock types? The listing that is going around online says to use bacon, but when I do it gives catching power and not encounter power
