I am almost 90 and I still want to get up and march with this music. However standing up is not as easy as it once was. Nevertheless I can still sit up straight and be with the band in spirit. I have watched these many times and always my tears flow like Niagara Falls. But they are HAPPY tears. Thank you so very very much.
How fortunate Londoners are to have one of the finest military bands on the planet in residence. I just love two front ranks of trombones clearing the boulevard with such a fantastic sound. I just love British low brass sound. It lets one know that the British Army has arrived! I was fortunate enough to see this great ensemble in Minnesota back in the late 70's while I was yet in high school. They performed at the old Metropolitan Sports Center where the iconic Mall of America stands now and they blew the walls down. How I wish I could have claimed UK citizenship to permit my enlisting in either Her Majesty's Grenadier Guards or Her Majesty's Royal Marines. It would have been an honor to wear the redcoat and bearskin and perform with these incredible musicians and work my way up the chain to become a drum major to lead this ensemble in performances for the royal family. The Brits have the monopoly on military precision and pomp and ceremony. The first march, "Scarlet and Gold", should put a smile on everyone's face. God save the Queen and bless the Grenadier Guards bandsmen!
Very kind words, thank you. Though when it comes to precision, I think the Chinese and Asia minor countries do a fantastic job... They all even look like clones... But in pomp and style, yes, I think we monopolise that :)

Jim, just read of your impending visit: if you need any advice on time-saving tips (eg. Where best to go/avoid, or how to avoid the traffic jams at Stonehenge etc), I’m happy to help. Daniel
@@danielw5850 Contact me via the e-mail address above. Would be honored to make your acquaintance. Also working on a special memorial to present to HM Royal Marines at Mountbatten 2021. More details off-line.

I thought I was the only one playing this over and over. As a soldier I relished marching behind the band and particularly behind the pipes. Now I’m retired I have learned to play the pipes and am in a local pipes and drums band
If you talk about bands here in Belgium, people would look at you as if you were talking about dinosaurs and mammoths. Hopefully the British government and especially the British Army will continue to value their bands. Bands marching through the streets put a smile one anyone's face and make people happy.
Sadly the government and accountants who do their dirty work do not value things like this ! Incidentally you obviously know being from (or in) Belgium that you have one of the finest military bands in the world , namely the Royal Band of the Belgian Guides.
@@midnightteapot5633 hopefully at least in the case of the household division bands the money they generate through tourism will be enough to save them from the government axe
Absolutely wonderful, I've watched this numerous times and never get tired of the beautiful sound. The Normandy veterans march is one I seldom hear the guards band play , it is quite special. Thank you for this post.
Ginger, you are a cheeky cheese, the only Yanks I know, who can maintain a Stiff Upper Lip, hail from the marvellous state of North Carolina 😉; I’m not sure about the rest
Rhys Hughes, I don't know if you still check the comments about this fabulous video you made, but I want to thank you for it. I've watched it several times already, & love it more than I can say. Each time I notice something different, too. For example, at 6.25 just after they've made that splendidly smooth turn around the corner at the traffic lights. we see the back of a policewoman and then a youth in a yellow bicycle helmet...and at 6.27 the much decorated drum major closest to that side turns his head while marching, & seems to watch the youth doing something in the bicycle's basket. At 6.30 that drum major turns his head left again, seemingly to eye a moustached man in a blue top with a white stripe on its sleeve. I am in awe of that soldier's vigilance and ability to keep in step at the same time.
You are very observant. I also spotted the drum major looking back at the 6:27 mark but didn't know the youth was his concern until you pointed this out. Thank you.
Hello Susan! To add to you observations, if I may, I believe DMaj Fitzgerald was actually giving a warning to Trombonists immediately behind him, that there was a barrier in the way. I believe he shouted "Barrier!", as you said DMaj is very vigilant and professional! He's My Favorite DM!
@@delvinrodriguez3341 Mine too! I'll have to watch it again and look for him shouting barrier...I didn't see him saying anything, and i missed the barrier entirely. :-) Thanks for commenting.
I really really want to go to the one on one of the one I really really want it to do so I can really really do it for a while and I’m really good to go and really want to go back and really enjoy 😉 but I really really want to do it again and I’m really really
Brillante desfile.. La música es Brillante, Marcial, Galante y extraordinaria. Los músicos son excelentes. El ritmo, imponente. Al oir estos aires marciales el alma se remonta a las nubes y el Espíritu al Cielo. Bravo!
Although I just played in the local town band this brings back memories of all our parades- the bass section and especially the bass drum the beating heart of any marching band. Just brilliant musical skills!!!
Must be a treat living in London, with all this pageantry occurring on occasion. Except of course if you are motoring about and are struck in traffic jams every time they close the streets for these parades. 🤨
It depends on will and money and to be proud for your country. If most of the politicians tell you it is awful so try to do it. And by the way when you lost, then....
Love the sound of brass. Can anyone advise me on the guys in civilian dress you occasionally see walking with the band and through the ranks .Love the music .thankyou
Yep, nearly as good as the Royal Marines, and with a little more practice in marching, musicianship and sheer outstanding performance and they will be up to Royal Marines standards, we hope !!
Nobody does it as good as us Brits, probably the best free show in the world. Believe me there is nothing better than marching behind a military band. Proud to have served.

They don’t … if you mean the pipes and drums and the corps of drums …. It’s a set precedence and order, the same as the Royal Navy, will always lead a parade if there are all 3 services in attendance.
The Drum Major nearest the camera whilst marching up Birdcage Walk after initially marching off is always half a second slow when swinging his arm, compared to the other 4 Drum Majors. Why ? Why ? Why ?
