My grandparents were in their 20s walking those "then" streets in 1926. Thank you, John, for giving me a small glimpse into their world. That was lovely!
Excellent video. I love the old photos from when Massena was bustling. Too bad its such a shabby place now. My Grandfather helped to build the old ice cream plant on the Raquette River Road, just across from the old station in one of the shots in this video. They used horse-drawn equipment to dig the foundation out. It made ice cream during the depression. Still there. My cousin used to own Hydes Plumbing just around the corner from there across the Massena Town Barn and Agway. I think both of those are now gone.
