Hey JT. Fellow farmer here. I’m enjoying your videos and practical fixes. I too have a shed full of Masseys included a 1155 and a 4880. If you ever need advise on a 11X5 series tractor message me, I’ve done most all you can do to one. I just watched your video of you cutting wheat with your 4420, reminds me of riding in our 7720 when I was a kid. I feel you on that crap feeling of disappointing yields. I advise you to buy a wheat management book from Phil Needham, it’s a little pricey but worth its weight in gold. We bumped our yields on winter wheat about 40%. Keep the videos coming and have a good season.
The motor is yellow, now the turn cylinder is too. Makes the tractor look really good knowing how much better she steers. Seems to be a thing, old Masseys not turning. The first one may not have even needed a divider valve, but seeing how much crap was in the one you got makes me wonder if some of that crap got in the turning circuit.
Is it worth more or less with a CAT yellow cylinder??? Nice repair, pump still sounds unhappy. Thanks for the videos. Nice to see an old 1805 on the channel and in the field being used.
@jtsbarnngrill6873 we don't really have that track over here we got the 1200 and 1250. Even the 165 looks different. I've got 2 grey Fergus and a 165. Be really nice to have one like yours. Not so keen on the look of the 1105 cabs though. But you don't great job off them though. 👍👍
I wonder why they painted that cylinder yellow. Was it the only color they had? I think it looks kinda cool so I wouldn't worry about it, but that's a strange color for a business to choose. I could understand black or gray or something that matches everything.
Hard to say, but the underside of it was yellow-ish when I brought it in. Wonder if all the red paint came off when they cleaned it, and they just painted it to match?
Where do you get hold of all these great machines (at least after you have finished them). I really like your MF165 with gasoline engine, reckon it is still G4.212. We never saw those her in Norway. MF165 taken into Norway were equipped with Perkins 4.212 diesel (after 1968 e.g., before that time it was 4.203).
That is correct! The g4-212 Perkins powers mine. Great little engine, a little thirsty but overall not bad. Plenty of power for what it is. I guess I just get lucky finding them. There were several Massey dealers in MI in the 70-80’s and the old tractors are still lurking around
