Introduction to our Massey Ferguson 65 tractor restoration.
Hello Im Lance (aka Bundy Bear) and doing these videos is my hobby. I do own Queensland Tractor Spares in Australia where I sell parts and offer technical advise to customers.
Parts seen in our videos can be purchased from www.queenslandtractorspares.co...
We have a lot more than we can offer on our web site available to us and in our store. If you dont see what you would like please email info@queenslandtractorspares.com.au and we will help where we can.
I do try and help with technical advise at bundybearsshed@gmail.com if you have a question or are having trouble with your project.

Looking forward to the journey. My father worked on large farms as a tractor driver and the MF 65 Mk 2 was the very first brand NEW tractor he had ever driven as his daily driver ,, and was so proud of it and looked after it as if it was his own ,,when it got traded in many years later the local dealer could not believe the original paint still looked like new! He was a true MF fan so we put a picture of this tractor on his headstone.

Hello Lance. Greetings from Uruguay (South America)! Thank you very much for sharing your experience. My name is Alvaro. I have just bought a MF 65 ( SN: "SNDY 593580" ) and it needs a LOT of work. I'm going to use it here in my small homestead (3 Ha). I have learned a lot from watching your videos, and now that you are working on the same tractor I have (more or less, of course) I look forward to learn even more, so I can get it back to a decent working shape. I really like it, I think it's a good tractor. Thank you very much!! (Sorry for my english).

Greetings from Ireland Lance! I'm looking forward to watching how this restoration goes. My dad worked with a Massy Ferguson 65 Mk 2 for over 40 years on our farm, he used to call it "the 65" for short. As you can imagine, the tractor done a lot of work over the years and in fact my father's hands wore the steering wheel down to the point where only the metal rim was left! We always found the 65 to be a reliable tractor and easily started. I remember when I was around 15 he fabricated a cab using angle iron for the frame, a roof cut out of an old van and a front window taken from the side of a bus. Around the same time I remember helping him to do a complete engine reconditioning after the big end bearings wore out causing the engine to seize - the engine overhaul was great experience for me as a teenager. After my dad retired from farming I took over the 65 and my own kids gave grown up using it. A couple of years ago we done some reconditioning work including fitting new brakes, new clutch, new hydraulic pump, new track rod end bearings and steering box overhaul. As you may know the steering can be very heavy in the 65 and getting parts for the steering box proved to be difficult. They're not making the 65's anymore so it's up to people like us to keep them going! Anyway, all the best of luck with your project 👍

My first experience of a 65 Multi power drawing silage Multi power stuffed so no Eng brakes and very little other brakes that was fun going downhill in Co Laois there’s a few here in Western Australia saw one recently looking ok I sort thin that the power steering from a 165 would fit as I’m not as strong as I used to be Cheers

The one I've been waiting for! I have a new steering shaft for mine, bought through sparex. The length isn't quite right and it causes the lid to sit a few mm high, and if you use the bearings they have its even worse. It also binds as you turn it in spots. So, if they do find one for you don't get too excited. I have to pull my steering back apart again, got a bit of a notch in it so I must have stuffed something up last time. Plan this time is to turn or grind (with a toolpost grinder) the cones off the shaft and fit plain old tapered rollers.

Hi Lance. That’s a great project you have started. I bought a 1963 MF165 last year , very similar to your 65. The steering box was the biggest problem for me. The steering worm is 4 turns from lock to lock but the only new one I could source was 5 turns , and would not fit . The worm itself forms half the running surface for the top and bottom bearings. It will be interesting to see what you discover . Good luck !

No power steering on this one and this has the early dry brakes. If they are sticking you probably have a leaking oil seal and the oil is making them tacky.

Mainly water in our area.
@jefftheaussie2225
@jefftheaussie2225 2 года назад
No one uses calcium chloride here, never freezes cold enough to freeze that amount of water in the tyres. Have to use anti freeze in the engine as in some areas you can crack a head and in really cold places you might crack the block. In the days of the 65 nobody had heard of coolant though. The 65 was pretty heavy as it probably had water in the tyres as well as the cast centres. They should have blown diffs left right and centre, but they didn’t. It was stronger than it looked. Jeff

I've wondered about the brake system on these 65s and have had a hard time getting any information on them. I've seen plenty on the 165s

Lance, what was that muffler called again and can you still buy them? I reckon they look better than the aftermarket ones people put on them now.

Hydraulics are the same but that is about where it ends. I do have a playlist on my FE35 and the MF135 6 speed and they are very similar.
