Worked for me, never had a tractor finally got a massey 261 and this worked. The parts and location were different but just as easy. opened the cap and stuck my pry bar across and almost no pressure and the problem was solved. looked like a genius. My dad wanted to take it to a shop. Its our first tractor ever so we didnt really know what to do.
Your video helped me to see exactly what I needed to look for and to do. Mine was stuck in second so I had to push on a different gear but the concept was the same. Easy after figuring this one out. MF50
Thanks my Massey Ferg 40 was stuck in 3rd low moved it to neutral with a screwdriver. I heard put a little down pressure in the knob when you shift helps this not to happen.
My MF40 was in 3rd low today, and now the shuttle shifter will not go into reverse. Hoping something like this will be an easy fix! Glad I did not get stuck in a blind alley and need to back out!
Dave Sonntag Did the fix work? I've had to move mine with this method a few times I still think the downpressure works too. Should move back I think instead of forward
@@MikeJuntaman will try tomorrow. Where on the MF40 is the location to poke? Btw, have had the MIghty Fricking 40 for a week. Great machine so far. We were digging into an old compost pile with the MF34 loader, found a stolen chopped car that somebody had buried there 4 years ago! We popped it right out with the loader
I never cared it was such an easy fix to get it out and it happens maby 2 times a year. But it's the balls on the end of the leaver that gets wearn out I as I understand so it was no easy fix.
Mine happened as i was starting to back up i realized the parking brake was on then it would not come out of reverse somehow the extra torque pinched the shifter stuck in reverse. so on mine i opened the inspection hole and pushed the big gear in the very front all the way forward then it was stuck in first instead of reverse, after trying different things nothing would unstick it from 1st so i moved the big gear back to about the middle neutral then the shifter became free again and was fixed . 1st time this ever happened i think ill change oil in that gear box. Keep messing with the big gear thats the answer. I think go easy on the shifter dont ram it around because its old you have to be easy on it. and change your oil in that gear box mine says winter80 summer90. sae
