"more important with number of charging stations still a fraction of gas stations." Yes, but still very doable, especially a year later. Appreciate the way you put the vid together. Decent music selection. Speedy over the road video. And good view of screen and function use for us that still don't have and EV. And 'Camping ' mode. Great! I'm and epic long tripper and rarely get a motel.
Salt Lake City is insane. Ogden to Provo is literally 80 miles of I-15 driving through dense population. Thanks for posting this! Very cool. I’m a current PHEV owner who will likely make the jump to full EV next go around. Gives me an idea is what I’m in for 😊
I am planning a trip from the US to Calgary and the three major national parks near Calgary. I am wondering if there are enough EV charging stations in Canada.
I noticed that for the trip up to the 3rd last stop, you were using only 312Wh/mile on the highway whereas the EPA has the Model S LR rated at 330Wh/mile combined Hwy&City which should be less than straight highway not more! Nice! I found this drive you took interesting because a couple years ago we put a deposit on a Cybertruck Dual Motor so we could escape winter for a few months by pulling a trailer from Edmonton to Nevada. However, because ALL trucks, (ICE or BEV), loose 50% of their range when pulling a trailer and BEVs loose another 10% in the winter to keep the battery and occupants warm, the distance between (Lethbridge, or Fort MacLeod) and Great Falls, MT is greater than the range of the CT Dual motor assuming a 60% loss in range, (216 miles vs available range of only 150 mi). (At the time we put a deposit down, I didn't know you lost so much range when pulling a trailer in the winter. There is both considerable drag and a lot more weight.) We will have to pick a different route, (through Vancouver then down).
Yes, by far this was the best energy consumption trip I’ve done in the Tesla. Conditions were near perfect on the entire trip to be able to achieve this 20-30degC and little to no headwinds. Not a lot is talked about for EV range loss but it’s much more important with number of charging stations still a fraction of gas stations. Awesome that you have a CT on order! I think one recommendation is to consider buying the Tesla to CCS adapter (currently only avail in Europe & Asia). By the time your CT arrives you should be able to get it in North America and it would easily double or triple the options for charging. For example between Lethbridge and Great Falls there is already a few CCS stations which would make winter or towing trips a breeze. Thanks for the comment!
@@hellotesla1760 As it turns out there is ONE Level 3 (FLO) at Milk River, AB. That one FLO plug is not working as of 3 days ago but when working it will do the trick! Plus by the time the CT is actually shipped, there will likely be more plugs and another SC at Shelby, MT
