Just made some sheets for my adventure craft. Came up with a sling design as well, but somehow very different. Will have to put in some more work, but will be public very soon. Maybe Jacob from EK&T will show something.

Pro tip: 1.25x the speed on this video, you won't notice. I also like how he says it may not look complicated, when it's literally the most complex sheath system I've not only ever seen in my entire life, but could even imagine.

The middle blade should probably be canted up on the main rig just a bit or set one screw towards the tip so it’s handle is out of the way. I would also carry them edge up so they’re not riding into the sheath and getting prematurely dulled. I am a wheelchair user so finding the best way to carry that is not always on a belt has always been my goal even when weight doesn’t matter like that beauty of a rig!!
@BlackBearCustomKydex
@BlackBearCustomKydex Год назад
Agreed. Sometimes the angle I end up going with is what's most practical, other times it's what is most conducive for the build itself, meaning alignment of holes to physically assemble it all.

I want 2 & I'm left-handed to boot. One for my Tops knives the other for my Bark Rivers BUT I feel that the sheaths are not heavy and bulky enough so I'll order them leather clad. All kidding aside, I'd like to order. This is very practical. I just recently tried to EDC a leatherman wave, flashlight, & tactical pen in a scabbard & it looked good but it was too heavy, kept pulling my pants down so I stopped. Just got into kydex making after I got an Adventure Craft. The kydex was too big and heavy for me for the small knive. Ended with a similar sling design but speced down and a very simple and light design. Went through some prototypes and got some finctioning sheets now. But that fit and finish on your sheets is awsome. Guess there is a lot of homework and toolmaking left till I get there.

@@BlackBearCustomKydex Yes, just finished a new taco dedicated press with a strech aramid fabric to eliminate the hump on the spine. Did quiet well in the first test. Today I try to build a preclamp system I can use by foot to close the press enough to keep everything in place till I put the clamps on. I did custom saddles for a decade. So I have a strong sewing mashine. 2 weeks ago a friend of mine visited me with his hunting knives as he heard I started with kydex. He had an idea for a kydex/webhing add on to the kydex he made for his cold steel hunter master, to make it a belt sheet. Instead of riviting the webbing to the kydex I just sewed the webbing on the kydex. Worked perfect, perfect seam as well. Maybe something you didnˋt know and just in case you might need to solve a problem like this. I use a Pfaff 145 H3 walking foot sewing mashine, 140 needle 40 yarn.

@@panganarangaI've been looking at heavy duty sewing machines for a while now. I currently don't have anywhere to put one, so that's the biggest obstacle, but eventually I'll get one.
@panganaranga
@panganaranga 4 месяца назад
@@BlackBearCustomKydex Donˋt know what you really want to do with it and what you mean with heavy duty mashine. I f you think about a shoe repair mashine, they really take a lot of space. If you want to sew over half an inch thickness you will most likely need it. But you might consider a colums leather/upholstery mashine. They are normal industrial mashines but the column gives you the same freedom sewing on objects.
@BlackBearCustomKydex
@BlackBearCustomKydex 4 месяца назад
@@panganaranga I'll look into it. I just meant I don't have much space in my shop, and that I've broken needles on a normal sewing machine trying to sew some of the nylon I use. So I assumed I'd need something heavy duty or industrial to get anything done

Absolutely! My go-compass is the Suunto Clipper, which can be found on a ton of online shops. Usually I get mine through Amazon for $15-20. I'm probably going to switch to a different supplier soon, though, because I find it hard to support a company that gives China billions and billions in sales (most of what Amazon has now seems to be Chinese, much of which violates American patent laws)

@@BlackBearCustomKydex you know, heavy weight and unsatble heavy weight are different. 8 pounds hangging on one side of my belt is not good, no matter how strong I am, it just pulls and drags all the time.
