I am so excited for this video!! I’ve always loved the regal shield alocasia, but I never found “the one”… until tonight!!!! I found a gorgeous variegated regal shield mixed in with the regal shields at Home Depot; can you believe it?! I am OVER THE MOON!!!! My regal shield has 5 huge leaves with one emergent leaf, and 4 out of the 5 have tons of variegation!!!! It’s a sport type variegation, so green on green, and it could not be more stunning! I am obsessed with the dark almost black foliage and the contrast of the neon green patches and splashes! I wish there was a function to add pictures to RU-vid comments:( I have never seen a variegated alocasia regal shield before, but I have, up until now, never had any luck finding special plants at my local big box stores. I always see people finding squamiferum or variegated monstera (sports) or even large hanging baskets of Hoya. Today was finally my day!!! Ok, back to this video. I just had to comment to share my joy with you all- I don’t have any “planty friends” who would understand my excitement lol!!!! Be well! -Nora

Wuuut?! Hahaha That's sooo exciting!!! I've never found anything cool like that either, I'm so glad it was your time!! 🥳🥳🥳You should see if there are any corms in the soil when you're ready. That would be such a fun project!

I just bought a regal shield from the reduced section. It has 2 big leaves but they're pretty damaged. Including the stems so I've no idea what to do. I think I'm going to repot and just try to support the leaves for now.

I love your doggies! I love Alocasia Regal Shield and I love this video! I don't know if I missed it, but when do you exactly water the plant, when is completely dry or when? I'm always afraid of overwatering when they recommend keeping soil moist, I feel I can't never do that, ha. Thank you! 😊
@planttherapii
@planttherapii Год назад
Thank you!! I wait for the soil to be about half way dry before I water. Sometimes I let them go a little too long but they're usually fine!

Hi! Did your regal shields ever grow a flower? Mine has two and I’m trying to figure out what to do. Do I have to pollinate the flowers or just do nothing ?
@planttherapii
@planttherapii Год назад
Hey! They do push out flowers every once and a while but I always just cut them back to help promote the growth of leaves. I'm sure you could pollinate them but I'm not sure how!

Hey yes you can I store mine in some soil in a zip lock back and then keep in a dark space like a cupboard or something just check before you use them if they are okay the corm should be nice and firm
