Passengers and crew on Newport Coastal Adventure Ultimate Whale Watch got a once in a lifetime encounter with a curious blue whale - the largest animal on planet earth! It's incredibly rare to have this species behave so friendly. Typically blue whales are very focused on feeding and not too interested in coming over to say "hi". However, this whale made repeated passes directly under the boat! Only a few times a year do we get to see whales initiate these special encounters.
ALL whale watching guidelines were followed. Always view whales from a safe distance, do not place yourself in their path, and remain still in the rare event that one decides to approach you. Our boat never maneuvered towards the whale & our engines were completely off throughout the encounter.
