MASSIVE Changes Ahead: Should We Stay Or Should We Go? 

Having done that guys, please be Awear you will lose lots of money. You can never get back what you bought you're van for. Also if you go on big sites, they push you every 5 years to buy new from them, to them you're static is old, and they need too make money. I absolutely loved my static van , but the site office was push,push,push to get me too buy a new one, in the end I had to leave. I have now got a tourer on a permanent pitch, it's in the back lanes of skegness, and it's nice and quite. I would just think before you leap, money wise. XX

Look at small family run static sites . Don’t buy brand new, but take in to account some sites will not let a 10 year old van on site. Site fees are very high and of course , many shut from end of oct to March . You have to have a permanent address and some sites ask for council tax bill on that address with your name on. All that said , some lovely small sites in wales .

Please please reconsider buying a static caravan as all sites for statics just rip you off seriously big time,we bought a static for 55k brand new and 3 yrs later they offered us 22k back there's a Facebook page or pages for all the static owners that have been robbed, there's no regulations regarding buying or selling for the park owners its an absolute rip off

That’s one shilling…. And 6d is 2&half p…. We had a static caravan, worst thing we ever did.. had loads of trouble with the site we were on, then we had problems when selling. But I did love the caravan

Buy a bit of land and put at static on it

Definitely get a static it’s got a lovely proper loo and big kitchen

Just take into consideration the cost of having to renew a static caravan every 10 years & only being able to sell to the site owner. Then you have connection fees & site fees that increase every year & are extortionate amounts. Plus most sites close from end of Oct to beginning of March or for Jan/Feb so you'd have to find somewhere else to live during that period. Then when you come to renew your van or sell you are restricted there & lose out massively. What some of my friends have done is buy a good sized touring caravan & put it on a site during the "season" & have an awning attached for extra space etc. They have the car to go travelling/exploring, but they also have the option of going to a different site/area the year after. There are some sites that allow you to pitch all year round, but you could still move to another site/area when the 12 months are up & explore somewhere new. Also with a tourer you are not tied to having to buy them from the site you are on. You can buy whatever tourer you want & from wherever you want. It gives you more freedom, but you can pitch it wherever you want & if you find a permanent pitch even better. Plus you'll still have the car to go out in. Just something to bear in mind. After having had experience of both I personally would go for the tourer with awning rather than a static as its more flexible & you don't lose as much when it comes to upgrading or selling up. Don't be swayed by the niceness of these big static caravans or chalets as it can turn into a money pit! Big decisions ahead guys so good luck in whatever you decide.

Statics are great but the clues in the name beware of the extra charges and ground rent going up each year. We had one for 5yrs and got totally ripped off when we sold up the site took a percentage plus VAT. We now have a motorhome but if we wanted a more permanent base we would probably buy a big touring caravan and move to different seasonal pitches from year to year. That way you have somewhere different to explore and a car for adventures further away. Good luck with whatever you decide to do I will continue watching

I was motorhoming 20 years ago for 10 years over 20 countries.wish I did you tube then .I was going to get a static ,but my advice is check overheads on a static ,when I was going get one over 5k per year for service charge alone . But just remember once you pick a static place ,your stuck there ,can use it as base and travel in car 🚗.but get a top 5 area’s Cornwall ,Devon , ect then stay at hotels in each area to sus it out . Hi Dan .,mazzy we went from a tourer to a brand new static although we had 5yrs of great breaks we decided to sell and lost a heap loads of money dont forget the rates gas electric ect just beware of the terms and small print its easy to get excited 😂 they make it really awkward to sell, but good luck it works great for some people who own them for years ,if I was to have a seasonal again I would have a big touring caravan on it ,and do it that way ,now got a motorhome by the way

Yes go for a static caravan, and car, more freedom not relying on public transport, go shopping when you want .More space , a oven not above your head with 4 burners/rings, a full load washing machine you don't have to drag out, proper settee etc, .You can tick motorhoming off your bucket list, and start enjoying life more as in a place for everything and everything in its place, less of a daily battle.A great YT channel I binge watch is SBL Caravan Centre, don't know where it is but gives you an idea of going price, plus layouts, big learning curve how the models differ, don't let the older models put you off as the newer versions are same layout but modern fixtures and fittings.Look for either one with cooker fridge freezer washing machine , or the space for them been caught out a few times really liking one n no space.Hope this helps , love your channel, have got hubby hooked on it now.Big hugs from Cornwall ❤x x

I don’t blame ya do what makes you happy and my sister had a static as a holiday home and now lives in a 2 bedroom lodge which is bigger than my house. I absolutely love it so roomy xxx

That’s what we did in October - sold our motorhome ( we have a house so not looking for a static) but decided it’s easier to get a plane to a city - stay in B&B’s - we found parking the motorhome was getting so hard. Good luck both

We bought an apartment in spain for the same price as some of the static caravans in the uk , we're one hour south of alicante . It's much cheaper to live than in England

A static caravan is great so much room. We have a static caravan and back end of last year we bought a motor home. The idea is to use the caravan as a base and if we decide to explore then we can use the motor home. We are on a lovely quite site been here 6 years we where previously in South Wales but got to far to travel from where we live in Cheshire. The site we are on now is fab as there are very little or no children, most adults on there are in there 40s and over. The site manager is a great guy to. I'm sure you'll make the right decision when the time comes.😊

I had a static at Borth, nr Aberystwyth.. The annual ground fees crept up & up to £3750 although there was no amenities on the site ! I couldn't afford them anymore (single lady) so I sold my beautiful 2 bed static for less than half what I paid for it 5 yrs previously... & I miss going now! Think long & hard before buying one x

100% towards a static, I’ve had both a motorhome and caravan and now a static. So much more room and feels like a proper home. I would recommend looking at wilerby or Swift, both great. My only regret is not getting freestanding sofas! It’s definitely one to consider guys.

We are looking at down sizing our house to a bungalow and we have a base as our kids will be grown up. love being in our van possibly 3 months and then home. You guys have lived it so you only know how you feel. Also its grim in the van some times in the winter. I would say get a 5th wheeler maybe as they make nice homes and you can still move on if needs be. You will get itchy feet I can assure you. What ever you do it has to fit to make and keep you guys happy. I for one do miss seeing you on the road, but also would just miss seeing you. You where the first YT I have followed. Have met some great ones of the back of it and follow them and if not for you I never would so I have to thank you.

It's an absolute pleasure watching your site and content. Totally appreciate your time and effort. I went from a 7meter motorhome to a static last year. Never looked back, The price of maintenance and running a motorhome became ridiculous. Be careful of contracts and site fees of caravan sites, but lets be honest the cost of parking a motorhome on a CL site has risen ridiculous. I think you will love it and lets be honest how many static caravans are out there. So there must be something good about them.❤

A static sounds like a good idea I'm sure what ever you do you will find it a lot easier that living in a van and like you said will give you a lot more space. Just make sure that where ever you go your aloud to stay there full time. Just make sure your aloud to stay there full time as some councils only let you stay there so many Months of the year.

The key thing is your giving yourselves lots of time to weigh up your options. Whether it's a static home or bricks and mortar, its a big change from van life. I can definitely see the appeal of more room for you both, it must be hard work not to become overrun with 'stuff'. Maybe have a look at some of the Butlers Empire vlogs when they visit Sharon's brother. His static looks really well appointed. One thing to check though, can you stay year round on the site. If I remember rightly, a lot of sites in Norfolk for example only allow you to live on site for 11 months of the year.

I think it would be wonderful having a base and travelling in the car! You both seem to be missing some stability. The nurseries seems to be changing to more lodges and its time to move forward! Hope you both find peace with your decision! I say go for it xx

Great idea to have a lodge or static. We didn't get what we expected when we sold our motor home. Lots of people bought during covid when travel abroad was stopped, dealers were desperately looking for motorhomes and you could sell for a premium. Now package holidays are back on the books, dealers etc have dropped what they're willing to pay. Our motor home was a beauty and I felt we were ripped off, but we had to sell because of health issues.

I've had a motorhome a few years .but starting to think the same ,maybe a static would be better. I stayed a week in one last year and was amazed what you get nowadays. Most have 2 toilets and showers. And so much more space. Plus its so much easier to go to the airport and fly to say benidorm in 2 hours .definitely the way to go I belive. And especially in the U K its so anti motorhome and campervan its getting harder all the time trying to find somewhere to park up.

A change is as good as a rest. I suppose everything runs its course I can’t give any advice on the static caravan front as I’ve never had one but being a new motorhome owner are you 100% sure your ready to give up the freedom of the open road with a built in home. You might be feeling down in the dumps with you current way of life I guess but the repetitiveness of general life gets us that way at times just don’t rush into any big decisions when life seems a bit same old same old. If my opinion means anything….. you both seemed so happy and bubbly when you were travelling round from place to place exploring you both always seemed so carefree and happy to be in each others company just loving life as a happy couple, maybe getting out on the open road again going where the wind takes you might be just what you need to do, you both seemed a lot happier when you were travelling. Just a thought guys you both seem a bit down in the dumps on this video at the end, a bit deflated

It makes sense to have a base to call home but I think you'd miss the holidays in the van.

I live in a residential static caravan in wales. It's like an apartment. I love it. The site fees at my site are very reasonable.

I’m sure you’re well aware of the risks involved when purchasing a static, it’s not an easy decision, we are considering doing the same thing. You could have an editing suite in your spare room 😁

I think you should go ahead with what you are thinking with your future plans, for yourselves I would say be a brilliant idea to go ahead with ok will be big costs involved but not impossible, I mean certainly take a bit more time to figure out what you want to do for sure, but do think should go for it ❤😊xxx

If you buy a static it can be expensive for gas and electricity I don't know how the nurseries do the billing but most do it quarterly and are tight on rules I know of one that static owners were supposed to ask permission to hang out washing 😕 been there, nurseries a really laid back.😀

Hi dan and mazzy, i get where you are coming from with regard to moving and getting a car to travel. However, we have done the static route and as per other comments, biggest ripoff ever, no no,no, also, if you get a car and tryvto travel, s u get older (like us) not having a fast access to a bog is a major issue, we go to Portugal twice per annum, and hire a car to travel, but, finding a bog is near on impossible, so have to carry a bucket. Its not s good experience, please consider my comments❤

Watch the old station renovation they went to a place that sell secondhand static caravans . They’ve bought a old railway station .
