Massive Construction of High Rise buildings at Kariakoo Tanzania 2024
If you have visited kariakoo business district this year 2024, you may have noticed massive construction of high rise buildings having more than 15 to 25 floors. From shopping complexes, apartments, stores and the new kariakoo Market itself. Today I will spend all my day at Kariakoo trying to understand the reason behind massive construction of high rise buildings, exploreing different streets and asking residents their thoughts about this.

Everything is all good finally kariakoo is getting the upgrade it needs…even building 10 apartments in one street is alright the major drawback I can see is that with this development many will move in to kariakoo and for that the roads need to be developed and widened especially because of the increase use of BRT and dala dala it could create a hassle in the busiest area of Tanzania. Hope government is actually planning something about the road expansion and introduction of flyovers to easy flow of traffic

@@mwaurakinyanjui-tf4mx Unless you don't know well kariakoo. I was eastleigh. that you can may be compare it with Buguruni or ilala but not Kariakoo. There is the reason Dar has 7 million people and Nairobi just 4.3 million

@@magazijuto7991 havent been to Dar after Covid 19 (last time 2019) so I may not argue that, but you need to check out Eastleigh of late, of course Dar has more people than Nairobi but honestly I dont know anywhere in East Africa as busy and people dense as Eastleigh.

One complains on spaces between the buildings. Eastleigh, though I have not been there for years, buildings seem to be more properly erected than our Kariako. However, I commend the proceedings in Dar, though

Another thing is in Kongo Rd. Maybe it needs to become laid down with bricks and become a walk-only area because it can't even be used to drive past with the cars and tents on the road there. I am sure they want those people to move into the building, but I am not sure its African culture is to only sell inside enclosed space. If you look at Turkey they have a open air markets. Dar should think about retaining some of that culture because that road is also a hidden tourism asset if it can be managed well in the future

Maybe they choose one road or a few streets and preserve that culture but with organized lots for traders who rent them. Some of the roads cannot have cars, unless the road is expanded. Maybe it should become brick walk way, they should map out this area from above and plan together

They need to expand the roads 12:00 but they are building up those older buildings instead, I wonder if it would have been better to collapse them and expand the road. I am sure they are just renovating and rebuilding because pushes development further and is cost effective I am sure. But I see bodabodas using the BRT roads because their own are too small.

The government needs to shift the business area to a new area like Kibaha. They should then come up with a good Darnes salaam plan with pedestrians, wider roads for cars, and even tram in order to accommodate the fast growing population in Dar
