A large dredging project which took place near the Quayside Market. This is the spot the Paddlewheeler Samson V is typically moored at. #frpd #fraserriver #crane #mud
Interesting. I can remember titans like this dredging the Sumas canal ,tributaries, and ditches in the ‘60-70’s. Kept the water flowing through Arnold. 🍁🤙
That crane was utterly massive .. the base of it was huge, like a small building, and the arm was somewhere around 100 feet long. 🏗️ It looked like the crane lives on that barge semi permanently, and there’s a large work shed kind of structure built up at the aft end.
It was interesting to watch, one of the cables to the bucket got snagged on that piling, the crane operator tried a few tricks but couldn’t get it untangled…
Dredging fraser river is non stop due build up mud and silt.the gov't spend money on this non stop plus upgrade vanvouver harbour due ship get bigger all time cause lots problems due mud&silt build up.😮
@@quaysidebench I did some work for FRPD in the early 90's. I sand blasted and painted their dredger, the Fraser Titan(now retired) As long as the Fraser flows, FRPD will always be there doing what those people do best 👍 RIP Titan, you and the crew did good 👍 In memory of the crew member who lost his life at the Esquimalt Dry Docks💐
@@quaysidebench 👍Good to hear. Now Living in Chilliwack for many years, the views of the mountains are at my doorstep, and absolutely amazing! Cheers from the "Wack"👍(I grew up in Coquitlam, and I know the view of Baker very well 🏔️)
