I would like to know what the microbes do in the body - like which proteins/SCFAs etc they produce rather than their exact species.

Do dental X rays kill the mouth microbiota?

Hopefully this can be put to practicable use that can actually help people, rather than be the latest new thing with a lot of hype that ends up being a money train for industry but no help to the general population. And, notice how insulin resistance, which must surely be a factor here, is, once again, flying under the radar as everyone gets giddy with the (money making) possibilities of the microbiome.
