When Christine's "chaos pantry" is still better than your "organized pantry" 😂

This idea is genius! I used these bins to reorganize my smaller pantry and it worked great!!! I can now easily find items and don’t risk losing them in the black hole at the back of the pantry. So much better!!!

Dawn is amazing. She is a fellow Minnesotan who has inspired me to reduce my inventory to more manageable levels and help me really put my mind in check for what is realistic in my life. And, also, it is okay to have sentimental and hobby things, but, use the containers to help determine the level of inventory. There will always be another sale, you CAN buy it again if/when you need something. Quarantining things, the recyclable donation bin .... All great ideas! I want to get to the paper clutter stuff taken care of ... But that will require lots more brain power than I currently have to tackle that project. Lol. I also have quickly learned what is realistic for me and that not every approach will work if Im not committed or just doesnt make sense to me. If it isnt easy to put away, then it wont get put away. I have 3 kids and 3 dogs so stuff is always everywhere too. And 3/5 of our family is ridiculously over the top lazy so anything to make my life easier to manage the house, the better. I have been at this since quarantine and have made significant progress in simplifying my house to more manageable pieces and actually keeping what I have worked on organized and sustainable. It has been a lot easier for me to focus on meal prep and schoolwork and work and just mindfulness in general and really give more clarity of mind to deal with my kids, husbands, and pets.

The heaviness of the condiment bin suggests it should be on a lower shelf or on the floor to prevent future problems.

I like everything like baking supplies in a bin. when you get ready to bake you can just pull bin down. then put back when done. love that

I like big bins, the most organized pantry area I had was when I used crates.i bought pasta,one bin was not opened bags and another was this is what we are using so everyone know where to grab first. I put all my over stocked baking supplies in another and so on... It really worked for me and I then we moved so now I am trying to get back to that.much organization with what I have now. Good news is I have a basement now where I can store over flow but in totes to keep safe from bugs and mice.

Sometimes organization has to do with everyday life and having a “home” for everything. It doesn’t have to be pretty, but that it works for you.

I did this, too, right after watching that specific Minimal Mom video! Added the same large bins with handles. Much easier for my kids to put things away.

Dawn the minimal mom, uses bins but she also mentions that Dana K White is the one who she learned not to pull everything out of a space to declutter it. Just one item at a time. It is so helpful. I don’t get as overwhelmed when I know I need to declutter a space. Great video! 👍🏼

I have added large clear drawers to the fridge, the pantry etc. Dump ad go, and don't buy more than fits in the CONTAINer. I think the bins you just added will improve things as they fit the size of your family better than the small ones. :)

I bought those bins and made themed gifts in them for Christmas, ie baking bin, snack bin, etc. for my various family members. Love them for so many things! I’ve been healing from a broken leg for several months and appreciate my family putting things away, but probably won’t be able to find anything by the time I’m recovered. Lol!! Oh well, I’ll reorganize. 😊

I love organizing. I feel like me watching this is the equivalent of when my husband watches football on TV. I'm not yelling at the screen, but I am definitely the armchair quarterback making suggestions I know you cannot hear. 😂 Also large clear bins definitely a great way to go! That's how most of my pantry is. I do not put cereal boxes in the bins, just next to!

I just did this very thing in my large pantry! If it makes you feel any better, I’m no expert either......but we amazingly took the very same approach!! Now I am trying to eat out of the pantry for a few months.....grocery bill should be ⬇️ for awhile!! Enjoyed this video! ~Charlotte

I put the Carnation Instant Breakfast with a little pouch of Bustelo instant espresso in a cup and use my Keurig to fill it with hot water. (I use my Keurig every day for hot water, but I never buy K-Cups). I add a good layer of canned whipped coconut milk (Aldi!) and stir it in. This is my everyday morning drink, and it's delicious. Don't pay full price for the Bustelo packets; they're a dollar for six pouches at Family Dollar. $6.99 for six at WalMart!

This happens every week! I’ve realized it’s because I don’t use up what I open.. and then I go and buy different things that get open and before I know it it’s allllll over the place.. I’m focusing on eating through what I have.. and by doing that I’m not buying extra food and saving money!

I have a finished cellar with lots of shelves. I don't use the bins yet, everything seems to stay in it's place, but I feel everything about the kids putting things away and leaving empty boxes in the upstairs cabinets where I leave things we are currently using. 🤪

Christine you are the most real and relatable person! Yes getting and staying organized is always a work in progress!!! This pantry organization looks great! I really like the “full bin, don’t need more” concept.

You might try labelling the shelves with each section so everyone in your house knows what each section is. It doesn't guarantee people will get things back where they should be, but it doesn't hurt!

I love the layout if your pantry bcs you can see everything. Seems like nothing would get lost. You are organized, believe it or not🤣.❤️

One of the ways that I get storage containers is every few months I buy those GINORMOUS plastic containers of cheese balls. My son and I binge for a week, and then I just wash the containers and fill them with pasta, rice, salt, whatever. Since I am the only person who actually gets into my pantry, fridge and freezers, I can keep everything pretty well organized. The only cabinet that everyone else gets into is a big 'snack pantry', made from an old computer cabinet a friend gave me years ago. That's easy to reorganize when it gets chaotic. You have 6 people in your house, all athletes who are constantly having to refuel, so it is always going to be harder for you. I think you do pretty darn good.

That ones empty- I am sure my brothers are living in your house Christine- we used to get our milk in bags when I was young , my brothers would constantly leave a very small amount ok A Few Drops of milk so they wouldn’t have to change the bag .

So much better than the last attempt at organizing this space. How she categorized everything and the large tubs look like they will work so much better. Nicely done 😊

I use a mix of the two styles. I use bins for one off items or categories of things but I use airtight containers for things I use often (oats, pasta, rice, pancake mix, cereal, ap flour, sugars, Splenda, baking powder, etc)

You have given me some motivation to clean my pantry. I have a huge one but I get in a hurry and drop things in there instead of taking time to put things in their place. I may have to see if bins will work for me. I can keep my pantry fairly nice for about a month hopefully you will last longer but then I am alone and with a family it is harder to keep organized.

I think It’s an awesome job. And it does make a huge difference, especially since you cook a lot, like I do. It does save on over buying on certain products and makes cooking so much easier. Especially the style that we cook, quick and easy

Finally a rational person who didn't pull everything out!!!! At any time you could have stopped and closed the doors, so you could do something else ( oh you did you had room to COOK lunch) then return at a later time. The other way everyone is overwhelmed and has a huge mess outside of the pantry. You just need to choose the logical spots where the gathered items will be located. Sooooo much more sense this way. You could actually do just one shelf if you don't have a lot of time.

Imagine a house were everyone puts stuff where it belongs!!!

I keep unopened packages out of the chip/snack bin. I use it for smaller uneven-type packages. Full ones can stand on their own 😆

Great job! My pantry is shaped like yours. I have like items together, but only a few bins. I have one of those hanging shelves too and it never has much on it, seems hard to get to the items.

I work in dentistry. Those crystal light drinks are EXTREMELY bad for your teeth! We had a patient that we couldn’t figure out why he had so many issues… turns out he was using those trying to cut soda and it wreaked havoc on his mouth. Has come up several times since! They’re horrible.

I literally have to do this EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH. The organizational struggle is real!

Less people does not necessarily equal less stuff when you cook/bake the same foods. At least, that is true for me.

Looks great, wouldn't work for me though. I have to see everything, kept super tidy and organized. If not, I forget about it, stuff doesn't get used and I tend to buy duplicates. The small clear ones are great but those big ones would stress me out.

I love how you're not "perfect". You're a normal person like the rest of us. When I see other pantry makeovers they all look soooo perfect and clean and tidy and neat. But let's be real here, who can keep that up for more than 2 days? I can't. So it's very nice and refreshing to see a real pantry. Greeting from germany!

I like a lot of what you did. But I don't think the breakfast bin will work. Have to pull the bin all the way out to get the big box at the back, then coz it's over full things will slide into it's spot. Its too hard to put back. I suggest having the big boxes that go in and out to one side.

Since I don't have a pantry, anyone's looks great to me! I have a small, multi-shelf rolling cart that I try to use as a quasi-pantry in addition to using my kitchen cabinets as my main food storage space. As far as Christine's pantry, I like the way she has categorized her items as it makes sense to her. I like the general categories she has but I think adding bigger labels that are more descriptive would help keeping things organized (examples: savory snscks, sweet snacks, Christine drinks, Dave/Christine energy bars, etc.). How long will it last? IF the kids and Dave help keep items in their designated spots, then a quick tidy up weekly or when putting groceries away should keep it that way.

At least 3 months, I have faith in you! 👍

I bought some heavy duty shelving for my food pantry .We heard a crash in the night.Yep,We had 2 collapse and knocking another one over making a pile of broken glass ,Food and dented cans , about 800 lbs of food damaged in a huge pile .It is full of glass so each jar must be carefully picked up cleaned off and checked for cracks or dents and set aside .So OVERWHELMED I am beyond knowing where to start esp since I am handicapped and can only stand for short times .

Maybe try doing a quick organize of your pantry, like 5 minutes every week. Work it into your weekly clean… once you get into the habit you might actually enjoy tidying it… cause it’ll be easy! 😊 -Lindsay
