I plan on getting a PSVR2 tonight with the sale on. The thing is, I don't currently own a PS5 at the moment and I'm instead holding out for the Pro, so, I won't be able to actually use it till the Pro is out..I can't let this discount pass me by though.
I seen this video rushed to my local Argos and got the last 1 they had. Don’t wait around you never know. It cost £349 in Argos. It’s still £529 on ps direct
@@JohnMac-vo5dw I also ended up buying my headset today, from my local Argos. I had planned to buy it last night from Curry’s but they also sold out…get one while you can, is my advice to anyone who’s thinking about it.
I think you strategy with waiting for the Pro is great, if you have to have the headset. Games like GT7, while fun and great would benefit IMMENSELY by going 90Hz constant (if possible) compared to the unfortunate 60hz/120hz reprojection that is going on now. It is playable now, but thinking about constant 90 is insane. Maybe No Man's Sky would get playable too? That would be cool as right now it is stable, but unplayable.
Whether SONY supports it with SIE games in the future or not, I say the kit has already been well-worth what I paid at launch. It’s become profoundly more functional with PC support, and - oh yeah - we still have a slew of incoming titles that’ll only further increase its value. So… better value for lower cost? Who could possibly see that as a bad thing? There’s simply no downside to a price drop.
It was worth buying just to experience Resident Evil Village VR alone. :P Although, it should of been $549 CAD from the start, especially when you compare it to the Quest 3 which offers so much more and works as a standalone. I just wish Sony would of opted for Pancake lenses(Which also would of dramatically slimmed out the headset visor, aside from gaining a very wide sweet spot, no god rays and superior clarity/sharpness), ring-less controllers, Colour pass through, mixed reality mode, built in audio speakers, improved interface/light shield comfort(Especially around the nose) and the option for Wireless PS5 Connectivity(Using a detachable cable, for also a wired connection). By going Pancake, they would of had to opt for LCD(Possibly QD-LCD) since 'micro'-oled is too expensive for consumer VR at this point. While regular OLED just isn't bright enough to work with pancake. Crossing my fingers for a headset revision, but i doubt that will ever happen at this point.
@@NintenZoid84 - No HMD is perfect, and PSVR2 is no exception with its cons along with its pros. For me, it’s PSVR2 all day long, but of course there’s room for improvement in every single headset (and controller pair) on the market and everyone has their personal preferences. The price drop sure is unexpected and extraordinary, and I hope it draws a lot of new players into VR! 🍻
Actually grateful that the psvr2 didn’t sell that well which forced Sony to make a move and come up with the PC adapter. Thanks to everyone who didn’t buy a headset
I CHECKED WALMART AND THE PRICE WENT DOWN 100!!!! I have been saving up for the past year for the psvr 2 and I just had enough money 2 weeks ago and I was about to buy it but I bought some accessories for my ps5 controller instead, two days ago I was about to buy the psvr 2 but I was like “I’m just gonna wait a few more days until I have even more money to buy accessories for the psvr 2” and I saw this video and instantly bought it I can’t wait
Now with the sales booming $200+ Price drop and PC VR Compatibility, it would be pretty amazeballs if they randomly dropped a new Trailer reel surprising everybody with a Resident evil 9 VR(Simultaneously releasing with flat screen version)Astro Bot(PS5) VR or Rescue Mission+, and PSVR2 Worlds(While including an upgraded and fully optimized PSVR2 version of 'Ocean Descent') and whatever else. I never would of guessed the $200 price cut would of made such a dramatic boost in sales. To me, the big problem(s) with PSVR2 is the headset bulk/aesthetics, discomfort(No light shield padding around nose), tiny fiddly sweet spot and jumbo sized onion ring controllers. :P It absolutely needs a revision. Regardless, i'm happy to see that it's doing much better, at least for the time being.
Hopefully the sale price moves to other places. As a Canadian who's still waiting for a serious discount, this has me jealous ngl. As for clearing out stock, there's a few things that could mean. Seeing as it's regional, it's possible all the PSVR 2's in that region are stored at a single supplier who's negotiated the discount or wants to be rid of the stock and is incentivising stores to sell it off. It's also possible Sony wants to clear out stock from their first manufacturing run so that they could introduce new bundles or (far less likely) a minor hardware revision like the PSVR 1 got. Though if that's the case, a regional discount doesn't make sense. I'm a bit more skeptical about Sony profiting off the headset at this price. If that's the case, than their leadership is even more idiotic than I thought. In a market that's so heavily price sensitive, it would be profoundly stupid to put hardware out at a price that everyone agreed was too high while maintaining a £200+ profit margin. They would've made more money selling it at a lower price, since they would have moved far more hardware and as a result, far more software.
The sale prices might not last until the adapter launches. Some websites tell you when a sale price ends, so better check that if you plan to wait. Also I think it's already sold out at one chain, so that's another consideration.
Good news as I can convince more of my friends to buy the headset But I do kind of see this as a bit of a nail in the coffin What happened to all the triple A games we were hoping for? Looks unlikely to ever happen since they would never do this with a ps5 1 year after release
Do you mean AAA hybrid games like RE8, RE4R, and GT7, or were you anticipating actual AAA made-for-VR exclusives? Incidentally, PSVR1 got a worldwide $100 discount one year after launch, so the Days Of Play sale was at least aligned with that precedent. FWIW
@@fishstickprice - I’m not aware of any, but then we don’t necessarily hear about them very far in advance either, so who knows what might be in the works. *Flat2VR* has been busy busy busy, so I’d be shocked if whatever they’re working on doesn’t show up in the PS Store. I’ve no idea if they’ve got any AAA-level stuff on the table, but it’s plausible.
Anyone know how long this sale might last??? I’m thinking of getting one for my brother but his birthday isn’t until October… Should I get it now and give it to him then?
if you’re definitely planning on getting one for him then i’d say do it now! I hope he enjoys if you do :) No word on how long it’ll last unfortunately
I suspect they are trying to shift stock, but I also think Playstation is more interested in moving PSVR2 units before this upcoming slate of game releases, before the PC adapter release, before PS5 Pro and probably before early 2025 ahead of a bunch of new releases. If they wait until PS5 Pro buying both together will be prohibitively expensive for a lot of people. EA has been notoriously anti PSVR with the exception of Rogue Squadron. Into the Radius getting basically a stealth launch is very surprising and potentially telling of some progress in larger third party development coming to PSVR2 in the future. I suspect EA and other AAA publishers believed when MS made the ABK acquisition there would be this large paradigm shift in console sales and they just blew off PSVR/PSVR2 as potential remaster sales blockbusters without really testing the platform. When the Xbox new success post ABK acquisition failed to happen AAA publishers started looking into new, but familiar avenues to start maximizing remakes/re-releases and possibly more AAA publishers will shift some development to PSVR2 on PS5-Pro in 2025. I would love to see Ubisoft’s Avatar game on PSVR2 as well as the original Destiny and with DFR and SSR It’s interesting how Sony is likely financing some of Flat2VRStudios projects, they probably wouldn’t have considered before this year with their “Ground up VR ONLY” approach. We’ll have to wait and see, but ultimately I’m not going to buy into doom and gloom editorials from gaming outlets that couldn’t be bothered to review even 2%-3% of PSVR/PSVR2 games that have been released.
Nah for a premium vr experience connect it to a pc. Ps5 doesn’t have alot of good vr games. It only that but Sonys own first party offering is trash. 2017 tech demos with 2024 graphics
@@chan13153 I have the quest 3 which also did a price drop, and sold out. I'm impressed with the quest 3, ps vr should be impressive as it has the eye tracking which I heard was pretty cool.
@@michaelbrownlee9497 yep q3 with a gaming pc is the way to go. I have that too. It’s nice. You get best of both worlds. The stand alone content and the pc better graphics Aswell.
If your retailer has a return policy you might be able to return it or get them to do a price correction (refunding you the difference from what you paid to the sale price) so that they don't have to take in used stock. I used to work in retail (in Canada, not sure if policies are the same in the UK), and I had to do that sort of thing all the time.
@@GreyMatterShades that’s a great suggestion - my retailer is Amazon here in the U.S. and in situations like these customer service have been great… but the issue was I bought the regular psvr2 which is currently not discounted, instead of the horizon bundle, which has a pretty deep discount where I’m located atm. So basically I’d have to return it and repurchase and different bundle More trouble than it’s worth returning it so I’m just going to keep it haha
If you're in the region and still within the store's return policy, you might be able to either return it or get them to do a price adjustment (refunding you the difference between what you paid and the sale price). Stores do it in Canada all the time, not sure about UK policies though.
