Those are scallops I’m sorry to say when you open them they have that button inside and you sought clams don’t have that button they don’t have a muscle like that they have an attachment but they don’t have a button… And they all smell like a bag full of rock scallops do they Gabe?… I grew up fishing Baja the whole way down… If you want to know about sir fishing Southern California for the big calico bass off the beach gigantic calico bass I’m talking 9 pounds plus hit me up sometime… Thanks Gabriel

I am about to go to a friends house in a few minutes for a christmas party I will go to his shop after hours and just hang out while he builds boxes this saw or sander or router will be running and theres no talking but I wouldnt trade our friendship for nothing in the world

I’m not gonna lie I cried my eyes out when you mentioned the boys. It’s tough being away. Some may not understand that this is your job and sometimes you have to make sacrifices in order to succeed. #BlueGabe - from one Dad to another I think you’re an amazing father. Back here in Sebastian or Florida and even in Australia they call them Razorfish. It’s weird because it’s not a fish. Also when I was younger and even now I call it a “Mother of pearl” but I guess that’s the pearl color inside the shell.

@@BluegabeArrington sneaky sneaky lol trout and flounder fishing is off the chain right now. The specks (crappie) are starting bite as well. Can’t wait for shrimp to start running as well!! It’s going to be a good winter for sure!! Have you tried the Pink Shrimp run down in the keys? Definitely a bucket list trip for me.

I don't know Pacific mollusks species well but I think those are pen shells. They don't flap around like scallops, they're edible cousins AND available in Florida. Hilarious episode.

We collected pen clams in the north end of Tampa Bay. Gabe, there are all kinds of crawfish type critters...that one may never get any bigger and never leave the clam. Also that was a cockle shell. Nice video. Love your nature shots.

Wife and I did the same trip about 30years ago. Pulled scallops without the use of that great tool. Then fried the scallops in butter with garlic with white rice and tomato slices. We dove whole Baja with one big difference...I stayed and still I’m here in Baja over 30 years later. My daughter grew up here and graduated then went on to earn her first degree in California, now working on her second degree. Being raised here in Mexico set her on the way to being a great human being, wife and mother.

These are Pen Shells and the meat is much more firm closer to a rock scallop instead of scallops you pick from the sand or bay scallops. Great vid makes me miss diving for abalone in California.

In Australia we call them razor clams or razor fish. In South Australia when we chase blue swimmer crabs you need good footwear because the clams can cut you up real bad. Cheers Ron.

A buddy and I drove down Baja a few years ago and I caught a bunch of these snorkeling off the beach. I cooked them over a fire of driftwood and melted butter and hot sauce. Delicious
