Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia was the name of the most recently found remains. It was such a horrendous way that Tzar Nicholas II and his beautiful family were murdered by the bloody Bolsheviks. Outstanding dig you had on this field, John! Well done!

SWEET…You found my silver dollar. Woohoo. I dropped it, when I was fighting with Mel…I mean BraveHeart. Oops, I guess not. You just said it was from Brazil. Blessings, my Scottish Detectorist friend, from this old man, on his beautiful Tennessee homestead.

I know the feeling John back in 1985 I was digging for bottles I was almost 6 ft down looked down and there was a silver 1903 quarter. I put it in my pocket. I flipped the next spade full of dirt out and say a huge coin flying I tryed to reach it with my shovel but but could not. The hole I was digging kept caving in and I was in some very good bottles. So I tossed an old piece of metal by if. When I filled the hole in I could not find any where. I never did find it. When back after rain storms no luck. That's something l have never forgot and kick myself. So I had a flash back when you said I lost it !!!

That’s one gorgeous Morgan silver dollar. First year minted of that design 90% silver 10% copper. Carson City mint mark, 26.73 grams and 2,212,000 were minted.

A Carson City Morgan Dollar in Perthshire fields! Man that's awesome. 90% silver of course. Looks like a CC mint mark to me. Value about $500 and the Chinese chop marks mean it has gone round the world the other way. Being minted in Nevada would have probably gone via the west coast to China or Burma in the time of the Opium trade then back to Britain. 1878 was the year you guys passed the Opium Act. Incredible history there. And you will find it again.

It seems to be minted in Carson City Nevada as well. First year Morgan ( engraver George T. Morgan ) was ever minted

Awesome! Well I knew when I saw your handsome face that it had to be good. You got a Peace dollar. Quite sought after in the States. Congrats!!! Okay, now you need to do some research and find out what was going on in Perthshire in the late 1800s that brought people from around the world. We tend to get floods like that where I live. Two months before I moved here was a bad one that a couple of people lost their lives in. It lead to them installing warning sirens. I am pretty close to the famous river and can hear them test the sirens monthly.

This is the very first year of the Morgan silver dollar. The mint mark should be located below the base of the wreath above the D in dollar. This doesn't seem to have a mint mark which would mean it was made in Philadelphia. (S = San Francisco and CC = Carson City, Nevada.) There are some oddities depending on the count and position of tail feathers but yours appears to be the standard striking with seven tail feathers. The motto E Pluribus Unum is the US motto meaning "out of many, one" which pays tribute to the US's amalgamation of peoples from many parts the world.

What letter if any is under the feathers above dollar? If it's cc it's more rare and stands for carson city. If it's an S "San Francisco" if an O "New Orleans" if no letter at all it's Philadelphia either way it's 1oz. Silver!! Awsome John

Congrats on the Morgan dollar find! Looks like it may be a CC mint mark for Carson City Nevada. The marks on the face of the coin are referred to “chop marks” in the coin business. It was used in sea trade and was chopped in China to check the silver content; Usually done to Trade dollars. Very nice find!

Stunning silver dollar Hooe you find it again soon. Really enjoyed my daughters wedding in Aberdeen apart from the weather which was dire. Incidentally my Dad done his army training in Scotland in 1940/41 and I often think could he have been in the same area as you are on the firing ranges that you mention. He saw action in Malaya, captured in Singapore and over three and a half years on the Burma railway. Best of luck in the future and keep bringing us these amazing videos

John, the silver dollar you found was first coined in 1878 at the Philadelphia mint. It was later produced in San Francisco and Carson City, Neveda. The philly coin will have no mint mark (found below the eagles tails, the SF mint mark is an S and the Carson City is CC. (Carson City was near the great Comstock Load, a huge silver find made shortly after the California Gold Rush). Let us hear what mint mark it is. I think the CC is the most valuable.

Who would have thought? A Morgan Dollar in the UK.. Well done. 1878 is the first year of minting. The first version had 8 tail feathers on the eagle but was changed to 7 due to complaints that the eagle has only 7 tail feathers. 90% silver.

If no one has told you ALL American coins EXCEPT the 1 cent & 5c coins are 90% Silver up to & including 1964. There are some War time nickles (5c) that have 35% Silver. There are Half Dollar & Dollar coins 1965-1969 (i think) that are 40% Silver. All the coins since then are clad copper.(In direct violation of the US Constitution. I don't recall that being Amended either. Just noting a fact.) The Morgan Dollar isn't in the best condition, it is still 1 oz of 90% Silver. Big plus>
