It took 3 days to switch over my closet from fall/winter to spring/summer! Over the past few years my closet has gone through such a drastic transformation. Growing up I always looked at old photos and movies and want to dress like they did. But I struggled to find clothes like that in modern stores. My style has always had vintage elements to it, but it wasn't until I started buying vintage and thrifting that my closet transformed into my dream closet. Its taken some time to collect everything and I'm always adding new things but I'm having so much fun seeing my childhood dreams come true (Yes I always dreamed of clothes)
I know this video is a bit on the longer side... the first draft was 45 min and it took a while to cut it down. I briefly talked about youtube and the length of videos in this video. I think RU-vid is doing well with longer videos, and those are the types of comments I see on other peoples videos, but people in my personal life (Not RU-vidrs) say they cant sit through a long video. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Carolina, your closet is made from my dreams! My goodness, so many beautiful things. Just breathtaking. You should have a weekly tea out where you invite all of your vintage friends so you can wear everything in your closet this spring/summer! :)

I don't have TikTok. I think that eventually there will be niches. Like those who prefer short content will gravitate to TikTok while others who prefer long content will stay on RU-vid. Plus RU-vid has soooo much information. A lot of my instructors have us watch videos on RU-vid. And I use RU-vid if I'm having a problem in my hobby, sewing. My husband and I have used RU-vid when we're needing a small repair of something. I don't think TikTok can replace those elements. You also pointed out that you get to know the creators on RU-vid, and I agree with you there. A number of creators are melding the two. Having longer videos on RU-vid to better interact with their audience while using TikTok to generate an audience. Long video platforms like RU-vid aren't going to disappear.

Yess for instructional videos RU-vid will always be the go to! But for those types of videos you are watching to learn something, not to connect with the person. Before people would watch videos to connect with a person. I remember looking forward to peoples videos every week and would be excited for certain people to upload. Thats more so what I meant.

I love love long videos, I reaaly don't have a problem watching them when it's about things I enjoy 💞 also i don't have tiktok so I will continue to be watching videos on youtube (´ω` ) I 100% agree with you about the shorter skirts, now I don't feel comfortable wearing them,,, i have been wearing longs skirts for a few years and it makes me feel more feminine and like a princess 👑 And yes the sea at the beach is superior hehe 🏖️ As an autistic person, I really relate to having days where you don't feel like talking at all, it's kinda like it's too hard to >< Congratulations for 10k on instagram 🎉💞 Wishing you a beautiful day 💗

I find it so much calmer and easier to plan outfits when I hang them up in colour order, I also like my hangers a certain way too, it's aesthetically pleasing to me lol!
@CarePinglo
@CarePinglo 2 года назад
Yess I have to colour code within its type of clothes (dresses, tops, jackets etc) I can’t mix them.... but then there is the length issue. I don’t like the lengths to be all over the place. That’s why the skirts are organized by length (I feel that way about books too lol) so much to think about !
@traceyshea2559
@traceyshea2559 2 года назад
I'm with you! I have free standing clothes rails so having the clothes organised by colour and length looks neater to me. I like to choose clothes and colours based on my mood on each day, there's a lot of emotion attached to colours I think😀

Haha I feel your pain with the word “vibe”!! It has become so trendy. I used it on occasion before it was trendy, and now I find myself avoiding even using it at all because it’s becoming such a slang word. It has fallen into the same category as “like” (valley girl), “totally”, and “literally”.

You are adorable with those balloons, getting them out of the way. 🎈 congratulations on the subscribers! I really love your style, and it’s so helpful to see this closet edit and your process! I actually need to go through my clothes this week (though I am commenting 6 months later at the time this was filmed so it the reverse season for me) and now I feel the fiery inspiration burning to get it done! I was so happy to go this year! It has been so long! But I went on the first day and it was crazy crowded and more so than usual. I found folks super rude this year, with no concept of personal space, but I suspect people were over excited to be there 😂. I got one dress, a bunch of dress patterns for a great price, and (surprisingly) a fabulous pair of cat eye glasses frames! Did you purchase anything off of the vendor who had the motherload of 40s and 50s stuff?

I'm like you in that my closets are bursting with clothes. I was wondering, do you ever feel like you don't get as many experinces like travelling, as you'd like, because all your money goes to vintage, which can be quite expensive? I feel like this sometimes
@CarePinglo
@CarePinglo 2 года назад
haha its taken me a really long time to build my collection! My last trip was a month before the world shut down with the pandemic. Most people haven't travelled in the past couple of years. Vintage pieces can be expensive thats the downside of shopping vintage haha

On a note regarding TikTok versus RU-vid: I will always favor YT! I was on YT back in 2006, so I’m an old timer, lol. Plus, TikTok is a breeding ground for mental health issues and depression. The short video format fuels ADHD-like symptoms, and reduces attention spans. My husband and in-laws all work in education and TikTok is a huge detriment to school age kids. 😢 it’s also hard to connect with content creators on TikTok- it’s easier to be a voyeur and shallow (showing your best or faux self) on TikTok then actually produce helpful content in which you develop a relationship with your subscribers. In the end, I don’t think you can beat out longer video formats. ❤ I use YT for entertainment instead of watching TV, I use it for background “podcasts”, I use it for tutorials, I use it for self improvement, and I use it for interests like following vintage creators!
@CarePinglo
@CarePinglo Год назад
I LOVE youtube! I basically grew up watching it, I always choose it to play in the background and look forward to watching videos (More so than any TV show). In regards to TikTok: I can totally see that fast short form content being an issue. You can see such a huge shift in attention span in the younger generation. Even comparing my age group (20s) VS teens in high school, its DRASTIC. (And I wont even get into Ipad kids that are in elementary school. its scary). I even notice it myself when I spend too much time scrolling on my phone, I feel tired. Like I mentally ran a marathon, and thats because my brain is processing so much information (reading faces, colours, music, understanding storylines etc) in such a short amount of time, and its too much too fast. So 100% I agree. However it's not just TikTok, life in general is geared towards instant gratification. Amazon same day shipping, Binge watching tv shows instead of watching weekly. no one slows down.I was actually thinking about this the other day and nothing in todays society has value. something will be trendy one day and the following week its out and not "in" anymore. I used to tell myself the benefit of TikTok was that its allowing people to be more creative and do more artistic things (Which is true for some people) but most people just follow the trends anyway 🙃. Idk I miss the days of coming home and seeing all the videos my favourite youtubers posted and connecting with them! I'm not on TikTok but I see reels on instagram and I don't see how you can connect to the creator that way (Like from an audience perspective). Social Media has changed SO MUCH and I HATE the way that people just want to be "instagram/tiktok" famous, but not looking to connect to their audience. Its become just about fame and money (like a business). The OG people that created a large loyal following did it because they loved it and wanted to connect with people and share what they love. Not because they wanted free stuff and to be invited places. Sorry I could talk about this forever ! I'm really passionate about these topics lol.

Not a big Instagram user (much prefer Pinterest) but just gave you a follow, congrats on hitting that milestone!!!! 🎉👏🥳 Love watching wardrobe switch-overs, they're so fun and always get me in the mood for the next season...all those pastels 😍 (plus I've already done mine too!!! 🌸☺️). Oh that dress at 8:02 is totally giving me Bridgerton/tea party vibes, love it!!! Yap, I'm old school, an o.g. RU-vid fan through and through! But that may be because it became my main source of entertainment back in my late teens and 20s (I'm now 30). I get the appeal of the short videos but when I find a RU-vidr I like, I much prefer indulging in the longer content. It might also be just a generational thing? I think TikTok is getting so popular now because of the appeal of the short and quick content (à la: Snapchat and Vine) but mainly because of its non-copyrighted music use. I feel like RU-vid hit its growing streak back when copyrighted music, sponsorship disclosure, ads etc. weren't such a thing and all the rules were still quite lax. I think once the same regulations start hitting TikTok, it's probably going to lose a lot of its appeal. But that's just my two cents. 🤷‍♀️ Also, highly recommend "Nemo's Dreamscapes" here on RU-vid for old jazzy crackling music vibes! ☺️💕

Thank you for commenting about this topic!! I wanted someone to talk to about this lol ! I use Pinterest for myself, 90% of my boards are private lol so I don't think of Pinterest as a social media app, I also don't use it on the daily, I use it when I need photos or inspiration for something. I go on there once a week maybe? if that lol. Thank you so much ! I'm 28 but RU-vid was such a big part of me growing up, I spent all of my time of youtube so It will always have a soft spot for it. I've just been having a hard time finding videos to watch where I connect to the creator. I watch a lot of history videos but I watch for the history not to connect with the person making the video (which is the point of those types of videos). I always look for new people to watch that post fashion stuff but there are less and less as time goes by. if you have any channel recommendations let me know! Ok that is such an AMAZING point! I didn't even think about music. I would have to agree because Music is my biggest hurdle as a creator. I always feel like my videos would be 10X better if I could choose music I like. Most royalty free songs are electronic or dance music and that doesn't work for my types of videos. I was never on snapchat or vine so maybe thats why I have such a hard time with short videos? VS teens now who grew up with short videos. yes sponsorships were less common back then, but I liked it when youtubers would seamlessly incorporate the item (sponsor) into the video so that it makes sense with the topic of the rest of the video. Instead of posting for example...a thrifting video and throwing in a "this video is sponsored by function of beauty" and they cut to a clip they filmed days ago lol. Make the sponsorship make sense ! LOL. Idk maybe thats just me. I wonder if music on Tiktok will be regulated? like if musicians wont want their music on there? because on one hand, it can make your song go viral... but on the other hand it kinda ruins the song for people in the long run? hmm interesting. Sorry this reply is SO long.
