My faves are pork buns, custard tarts and the fried calamari. I've never been brave enough for the tripe and chickens feet but you are inspiring me! I'll check this restaurant out next time I'm at Macquarie Centre.
Thankyou! Your a godsend! I always ask my mother in law what is the name of this dish. Everyone looks at me like a freak when I tried to explain to them. Seen jok Guen !Is a dish I thought had disappeared from the Yumcha scene. It was a dish that apart from the Phoenix claws that made always see yumcha as a delightful experience. But 20 years ago that dish was served with some marinated ginger and garlic soy sauce .The stuffing looks the same . Back then The stuffing was mostly wood ear mushroom ,watercress, bamboo shoot ginger and some greens. Today I see that it is served in a sweet sauce that looks to be ginger based. This gem of a find and I have you to thank for that.
I've been there once or twice. Always a long queue. Going upstairs. Have they installed an elevator, or escalator, or anything for the elderly and the people with a physical disability?
@@Ammmmmyyyy oh damn. The elderly and people with a physical disability will struggle to get up somehow, unless they have a family member, a friend or a carer with them.
Yum!!! We haven’t been to yum cha in ages! Actually, the last time is probably when we saw you film your yum cha vlog at Palace 😂 I love tripe!!! Eddy’s favourites are ham sui gok, lo mai go, and the spicy sauce goes with everything 😋 my mum loves gai bao. What’s the seating like at Panda? Well spaced out to comply with Covid distancing? We might try, as we go to Macquarie Centre regularly. Thanks for the recommendation 🙏🏼
It’s pretty spaced out and when I was leaving I noticed there weren’t TOO many people waiting in line (I went to palace recently and we had to wait 90 mins 😢) we have a lot of favourites overlaps! Ham sui gok is such a goood one! Didn’t include it here bc we were already so full lol
Thank you Ja no ice for pointing out this restaurant for Yum Cha. We have tried the food there and all were nice plus the great ambience and cleanliness of the place.
@@JaniceFung we have a few places we like to go to. Dragon Boat is a fav of ours just north of Toronto. Our 2nd go to unfortunately did not survive the lockdown period and went out of business.
Love watching your posts Janice. Keep up the good work. My family and I recently visited Sydney after lockdown in Melbourne. I took note of some of the restaurants you recommended and Panda Yum Cha is one of the best we’ve tasted. Thank you for your recommendations.
Thanks for Sharing your Yum Cha Experience. I am from Canberra. We can't get Nice Yum Cha like Sydney..... Well, It's much easier for me to Share your Yum Cha Video to my Friends who are New to Yum Cha. Thanks for Sharing......
That's a little unusual, the 鮮竹捲 (bean curd roll) that I'm used to usually has minced pork and wood ear in the filling. I'd also mention that the Ma Lai Gao is steamed rather than baked like a traditional cake. Along with the classics (some of which you didn't mention) I also like the fried whitebait (not sure if it's available there) and Nor Mai Gai 😀
I think love the fried cheung fan with peanut sauce the most... I haven't been able to find it anywhere else in the world except for Sydney, so whenever I'm in Sydney I have to get it!
My favourite dim sum is the chicken bun with the ginger inside. The pomelo mango sago dessert caught my eye! In Toronto our dim sum are slightly larger in size!
This is one yum cha restaurant in Sydney's suburbs that I haven't dined in yet. I'll may go there within this fortnight or so. Thanks, Janice for your vlogs. You explain each yum cha item much better in English than I can. When I'm trying to explain what the dim sums are and what's the ingredients in them to my non Chinese friends, my description is just a little bit off the mark. 100% for your video presentation. 加油!
@@JaniceFung You're welcome. I used to go to Parramatta Phoenix at Westfield Parramatta, but that closed down. There's Tingha Palace at Parramatta Leagues, there's Rhodes Phoenix, used to go to Iron Chef at Cabramatta. Crystal Seafood Restaurant at Carlingford Court.
Ooooo all the dishes looked good Janice. Watched on big screen again and came here for the comment and 👍🏻 Was at Macquarie today, didn’t even know it was there!
ahhhhh i miss the push cart dim sum! you basically got all the same dishes i would get! there a few extra type of dumpling like dishes i would get too but cant think of name currently..i just usually point at the item in the cart...hahaha
We normally just go to Mandarin Centre one which is cheap but this one seem much better .. May go and try with Family one weekend in April .. Thanks for doing this video ☺🙏
Hey Janice, I have a suggestion. Try three pub meals. The Glebe Hotel is fantastic. The Sunday roast includes Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. The rest of the menu is also great! Enjoy
Love prawn hargow, sui mai, steamed Chinese greens, pork belly and chicken feet. My all time favourite dessert is coconut jelly, and a second is a bowl of yung dou fou (young tofu). Sorry for my bad spelling. How do you think Panda compares to Phoenix at Rhodes?
Pan-fried Chives dumplings 🥟 is not to be miss .. love yum cha .. baked charsiu bao is my must order on the table. I like the crisply dough .. 👉🏻👈🏻 😂.. oh the bean curd roll is another dish for yum cha
Thanks for another good restaurant intro. In future, can you also show us the restaurant entrance, inside set up and the ambience inside ? This will help decide on the future function venues. Thanks.
Hi Janice, awesome content. Can I ask if you know the brand of the chilli sauce they used at yum cha ? ( not the the sate chilli oil) I've been looking everywhere at the Asian grocery stores and could not find the exact same one. Thank you in advance :)
@@JaniceFung are they better then old town?? Cause old town was GOOD!! Their BBQ pork not so good www.oldtownhongkongcuisine.com.au/home/?outlet=haymarket
Hi Janice , me and my husband always follow your video . Can you share the name of the place location of the restaurant please and information about the price ?
OMGOSH the washing of the yum Cha bowls and cups etc hahaha so true - my parents did it when I was young - I think it’s cos they know in China the restaurants don’t really take cleanliness highly so they wash it themselves.
@@JaniceFung we got the XO fried rice, the chicken feet, steamed ribs, spring rolls, spinach and pork dumplings, the rice noodle it had prawn and cabbage i think (it was all so so good)
@@JaniceFung no I went to Rylestone ..... which is a little scenic country town near Mudgee ..... we drove there from near Gosford. Was so interesting to have a little dumpling/tea house in a little old out of the way Aussie country town ( google "Yum cha Rylstone" ) Then you wont think out the back of Macquarie centre is so far lol. Around Gosford we used to go to Yum cha at Erina Fair .... but I think they stopped during covid ... havent checked if they are doing Yum cha again yet. They had the best Spicy Deep Fried Squid Tenticles .... which I think you were describing when you talked about the calamari.
@@JaniceFung I’ve seen that restaurant when i go to the David Jones staff entrance. Might take my colleagues there for lunch 🥗 thanks 🙏🏻 for the review
