Massport Fire-Rescue + Airport Security Services 

Many years ago, I had the honor of meeting some of the firefighters at Logan Field. It was right before their new station opened up. The guys were great, let me sit in on one of their training sessions, and had one of the apparatus drivers take me around the field in a crash truck. Very interesting to see the field from the cab of an ARFF truck! Thanks guys!

Alert 2: Indicates a problem with a large aircraft. (Mutual aid fire and limited medical/police response involved.) Alert 3: Indicates a large aircraft has crashed on or near the airport, or a crash is imminent. (Full mutual aid fire and medical/police response requested.)

I was there that day. I was at the Jetblue terminal across the way. I saw a Monarch Airbus A-330 make a emergency landing on runway 15. Not bad for a Maine boy.

Will you look at that, my two main hobbies collide. If I was taxiing down the ramp and suddenly heard a Q blasting away...I would be pretty intrigued. Surprising that they use a regular ladder and engine for this rather than the massive ARFF tanks. Interesting lightbar arrangement on the security guys.

When are airport rescue vehicles allowed to use their sirens?
