Boogie Drops and all about using the knees 😮
There is a strange "habit" that is common to swing dancers is that if we bounce we need to have our knees bent ALL the time. Let's talk about it. . P. S. These are examples of my personal video feedback. Join my online school with Premium Membership to receive monthly personal video feedback.
The movement of the knee is life of the movement 😂 “To many western and central Africans, flexed joints represent life and energy, while straightened hips, elbows and knees epitomised rigidity and death” (from Steppin' on the Blues”) .
Flexed doesn't mean flexed forever with no hope for change. Flexed is the idea of availability of the joint. Straightened knee doesn't give much opportunity for vivid and vital movement. It's unnatural to us, actually.
Now let's see how this idea affects our Boogie drops. The key of this move is actually to shift continuously between bent and straight legs while transferring your weight from one side to the other.
Basically what we do is two touches and then we drop our body weight . First touch is quite close to the body, the second one is a bit further: here is the key! As you start move your leg apart form your body central axis, you transfer your weight on that leg, until you drop.
Once you drop, you need to recover your posture, and straighten your legs to stand up and be ready to start again, this time moving to the other side. Here you have your boogie drops =) .
Do you feel like playing a bit with the move? Then, try to add some hip twists, or maybe twist your knees as you drop, it will give a Charleston 20s taste to your step. How does it work?

Perfect, Ksenia - analogy, too 😉 You know, that's exactly the way a singer in England - Shakin' Stevens - singer Duffy's father - used to sing his rock n roll songs back in the 70s. Thanks for your great explanation, as always ❤️

Великолепнейшая Ксения! Такие широкие брюки крадут много визуальной информации.
