The one great thing about this scene is how little blue team cares about Locke. Guy has a gun pointed at them and is commanding them to stand down but they just look at Master Chief and casually leave when he tells them to.
@@eomersimbajon2938 I mean, it's a cutscene, so obviously they're gonna focus on Locke and Chief, but in my head cannon, Buck is just standing there like 👀 I believe I made a mistake, if I stay quiet, maybe Chief won't notice I'm here.
Now that the librarian accelerated his evolution (Ancient Human Genes which is Astronomical in quality) locke should be grateful chief did not obliterated him
The fight would have made more sense if Master Chief just stood there taking shots until his visor broke, because he doesn't want to break children, rather than scaling him down and barely able to hold his own. This is the same man that jettisoned himself into space to deliver a nuke to an enemy vessel.
Yea no one wanted to see locke stand a chance agaisnt the OG Master. Master should have destroyed locke and his entire team, beating them senseless but not killing them. Just MC showing the children who the alpha really is. Instead we got a fairly equal fight that was won by mere "experience" and not total obliteration. You can attempt to tell a good story and maybe fail (in this case they did) or you can just give the customers what they want... crazy idea i know.
@@stephenpicciano6811 Even in the lore, the Spartan IIIs are supposed to be the (relatively) cheap McDonald's burger to a five star restaurant's steak. Cheaper, mass produced faire compared to a masterfully cooked and seasoned dish.
This scene could of been 100x better if we actually were playing as Locke and fighting Master Chief. Why did they just make it a cut scene? They promoted the game with this and we got a cut scene lol....
@@patriousthefallenknight3185 bro thank fuck someone can relate, I ain't ever passed the missions. Ain't completed it ever. I still want to but I don't. It's so shit. I forgot what mission it was but it was the one with the mongoose on the rocky acacias planet I played
Fun fact, chief has a covenant kill count in the low millions. Most were from dropping ships out of the sky but still, why lock thought it would be a good idea to try and fight the only current living Spartan with a hyper lethal designation is beyond me
There were people watching: he didn't want to be that guy that pussed out last minute. Even if they said they understood, he'd know they were judging him for life
This is the reason why i would love to see the only other spartan to get hyper-lethal (noble 6) to fight chief I personally think it may be a somewhat fair fight
@@Coercioner noble 6 was a spartan III if I'm remembering correctly and for him to be the only spartan III classified hyper lethal says it all, so I agree a fight between he and chief would be legendary but ultimately chief would win since he's a spartan II.
Yes I've watched the video and enjoyed. Spartan II's was faster and stronger than the UNSC Spartan IV's. They were naturally acrobatic. They experienced time differently. I like reading the books. Falling to reach must have taken awhile.
@@dionmcleod5350 did you see the one where Chief takes down all of Osiris with just one knife, body checks against a wall, John wick style camera style? I ask because I’m on a banned list for sharing links on RU-vid. It’s more retarded than take two interactive’s E3 2021’s presentation.
i love that in the lore Chief, using his enhanced relfexes and strength, literally pimp slaps a missile the day he's pairs up with cortana. Then here, they have him fighting like a washed up boxer in a bar fight. It would have really been nice if the team making Halo 5 actually gave a damn about the lore, let alone know any of it lol. The fact they didnt think Chief was Halo's main character still baffles me to this day.
@@Lightray110 in Halo 4 chief is taller than Palmer. In Halo 5 Palmer is the same size as Locke, who is the same size as chief. Also only the Spartan 2s got bigger on that scale to tower above everyone else.
343 also doesn't understand you don't go into battle with 2 clips and hope to scrounge ammo and weapons on the field. In the original, a player could carry 60 rounds in the assault rifle and carry 600 more. (Not that the assault rifle was very effective, but once loaded up, you didn't run out of ammo!) The pistol was the best weapon with 12 in clip and 120 more at the ready. In 5 a player couldn't carry much more than 60 rounds total for all weapons, and the pistol has been useless since 2. Halo 5 just pissed me off every way possible!
There are a lot of ways you could make this fight work. Personally, I'd either have it go about the same, except it's 117 vs. all of Osiris. That would show how much a threat Chief would really be if he went rogue. Maybe he even accidentally kills or injures one of them. Throw some emotion into the mix. Or, Chief just slaps Locke's gun away, goes easy on him, then after Locke cracks his visor, Chief just backhands him and leaves
I think it would have been cool if chief just ate a few punches and took it and when lock went for kick or some large hit chief dodges and counters with a massive hit putting Locke on the ground Locke then does some dirty move and slightly injures chief who then unleashes a. Devastating combo finishing it with a knee to head then stabbing Locke pinning him to the floor and the rest of Osiris kind of just move out of the way
I like the idea that he tells Blue Team to go on ahead, scraps with all of Osiris, Locke says something that sets him off, he unintentionally severely injures one (I'd pick Buck, it'd carry more weight if it's someone the audience likes and it makes it clear it's accidental) and then leaves
Chief is superior to everyone in Osiris team, and could possibly tango with 2 at once. He would have no chance at all against the entire team. In the books, we get to know Chief's and the Spartans' limitations much better. They weren't absolute juggernauts like Cheif is in the games. They are super-well trained super soldiers that could handle entire enemy troops at once, but their ability to defeat armies comes from their tactical genius developed over years of traninig and decades of experiemce. And guess what: in terms of power and abilites, spartan 4s are pretty close to the 2s. They just can't stand up to Blue team as a coordinated tactical unit.
This is truly the only way this game would've had a good campaign. Master Chief needed to have a REAL reason to go rogue, so if he killed off one of the members of fire team Osiris (on accident or on purpose) then the story could have started there. Here's how I wish they started Halo 5's campaign; Cortana is corrupted and trying to kill people, so fire team Osiris has been a tasked with taking her out. However, Master Chief would defend Cortana and kill another spartan with such ease that they view it as an act of aggression towards his own people, when in reality he's the only one that can stop Cortana and knows exactly how to do it but if he doesn't- then all of humanity will die. This way Master Chief has a storyline where he actually goes rogue and shows his truth strength against another Spartan
343 really ruined this game. If we could’ve played as Buck and been forced to deal with Locke ordering us to pursue the Chief and put the player in a role we don’t want to be in, as opposed to us being Locke, I might have enjoyed it more.
And we Can actually see what would have happened if lock and chief fight where Locke would have had to be in the cast for 4 weeks cuz of how bad Chief whooped his ass so now buck got to step up and show his true potential
@Splinter-ben 343 didn't invent a time machine to go back and remake previous Halo games themselves. Your childhood isn't ruined because 343 ruined this game. Calm down.
There’s nothing that anyone or anything in the universe can do about master chief & Cortana’s relationship. “it’s complicated” is a understatement. But they’ve both saved each other. And that’s all that matters.
Forerunner technology. Also, Cortana may or may not have come up with a way to prevent the EMP from occurring WAYYYYY back when she first got plugged into a Covenant ship.
Comparing Forerunner slip space drives to Human or even Covenant slipspace is like comparing UNSC slip space drives to the sails on on Nelsons flagship HMS Victory.
Honestly, this game was not what they’d advertised. Made it seem like chief did something way controversial and so they sent a Spartan team after him. Instead, nah man he’s hearing voices and stuff so he goes AWOL in the first mission. Now he is public enemy number one. Who the hell wrote this?
Also, the UNSC decides not to trust the *MASTER CHIEF* The man who has saved the galaxy and everyone in it multiple times. Because they think "He's going rogue". Or "We don't know if we can trust him". Chief is the ONLY person that you COULD trust to do his own thing out there in the galaxy. On a mission that he clearly feels strongly about. Like seriously, this game is hilariously dumb, and an embarrassment to the Halo franchise. And once again... Screw those devs.
Well, it wasn't Chief they were concerned about. It was Cortana. They were aware that she was still active, way past her deterioration date, which meant she was going haywire. She was making moves, not concerned about the betterment of Mankind by activating a shit ton of unknown Forerunner tech. They were trying to prevent Chief from making contact with Cortana because of his extreme attachment to her, since she could potentially convince him to help her with whatever she's planning. To the knowledge of the UNSC, Forerunner technology is kinda assumed to be geared towards killing all life since all they really fully understand are the Halo installments. The wordings on how they presented this plot mechanism is a bit unnecessarily dramatic but they were definitely correct. He was going rogue by going after Cortana, a currently missing asset who is making big play moves for unknown purposes, which meant he couldn't be trusted at that time.
That actually makes a lot of sense given the emotional toll losing cortana would have on the chief, the chief is an absolute weapon, it’s like batman having contingencies for if superman went route, it’s a what if. Honestly you sound like the dumb one😂
"UNSC decides not to trust the MASTER CHIEF" In the Lore it was ONI who ousted Chief. Not the UNSC. ONI has no love for the Spartan-II's (As explained during the Halo 4: Infinity 'Campaign'), even though the II's were primarily responsible for the victory in the Human/Covenant War. ONI condemned the II's because of Halsey. Also, explained via the lore. And since Halsey was responsible for both Chief and Cortana she was considered a traitor and anyone she 'created' was also deemed traitors. Which is why when you see the Trailer of the 'UNSC' announcing Chief's death, it's because ONI didn't want to paint a bad image on themselves, and instead tried to kill that hope that Chief gave by claiming he was 'Killed in Action'. The Office of Naval Intelligence has a nasty hatred for Chief and the other Spartan-II's. And they'll do anything in their unrestricted power to ensure they're demonized and cast out.
Except this was a bit accurate. Chief wasn't trying to kill Locke, that wasn't his goal here. He wasn't out to hurt other Spartans, rather to subdue them long enough to get ahead of them and continue his mission. There is no doubt Chief could have killed Locke and the rest of Osiris by himself, but that wasn't his goal.
I love how 343 tried to make Locke an equal to John lore wise w/ S4's and their Gen2 armor being "equal" to S2's in Gen1 armor and the entire fan base is like "nah."
I would have made a dlc showing that lock has severe mental issues and the chief had to go stop him that would explain his “actions”. But that’s just me.
I thought chief would have been calmer and more focused. And that punch.. just felt wrong. The (I got a job to do) felt good and locke getting tossed but. Idk. Maybe I'm wrong. Just felt they don't know the guy an didn't care too!
I wish noble six had lived to replaced lock in this game at least it would have been a fight Chief would have even takin the fight serious unlike lock and it would have made sense too
The dumbest part of the entire game. For starters, in a game that actually knew what it was doing, Master Chief would hilariously out match Locke in a 1v1. Second, imagine an in game boss fight against Chief while you, the player, play as Locke. Where your objective is to take down the Master Chief in an all out gun fight. That would be sick, right? But no, instead we get a slow and boring cutscene where Locke is actually beating Chief at some points in the fight, while his idiot teammates stand there lookin' stupid. I hate this game. Screw those devs.
Spartan IV's are less compared to the Spartan II's. IV's have a normal reaction time where II's reaction time is in milliseconds. Spartan II's died mainly from suicide. IV's are just unlucky and slow.
Gotta love how that armor can survive reentry of earths atmosphere and all he gets is a dint in his chest piece but some how lock punching a bulletproof visors broke it
To be fair, Wilder (hardest hitting boxer, slightly less powerful than Ngannou) can punch with the power of being hit by a vehicle going 40 mph. Part of this is due to lots of force being concentrated in a very small area (the fist). So with enhancements and spartan armor the force of the punch would be incredible and the damage would be focused on a small spot rather than spread throughout the body. Also this Halo got a lot of shit wrong and this explanation is still one hell of a stretch.
When I first played H5 and saw this cutscene, one of the first things I noticed was the lighting made Chiefs visor look red, and my own little theory was that the red signifies Chief going rogue to find and bring back Cortana. But it's probably just the lighting
Amazing action packed with drama and good story lines and dialogs animation cinematography. If this is a real movie, it would win all categories awards.
Chief:You expect that you can beat the shit out of me while the entire covenant is so scared of me they decided to call me demon while you are just some baby Spartan and then you break my visor Locke:"sweating nervously" Yes
*Locke cracks Chief's visor* Buck: Yeah...I'm just gonna stand over here, not looking to be added to what happened last time "What happened last time?" Buck: Let's just say, better him than this pretty mug *taps helmet* down there... "ODST? Why?" Buck: Remind me to warn you guys later...
It's so sad to call this anything more than a sparring match and Chief could if he'd wanted to killed Locke without a huge degree of effort. A boy taken and trained in lethal combat since adolescence, besting Marines to get his whole company back home during training, and that was just the start. The only reason this went on as long as it did (aside from the portrayal of the dramatist personae) was Chief held back. Somewhere along the line he went from loyal soldier to master of his own mind. Given how high the stakes were this is understandable.
The red armor chick too was good obsessed with elites. (Imo she shoulda been wearing helioskrill armor would have fit her perfectly) she would want playable elites in infinite
Such a shame that games still haven’t learned from what made Devil May Cry 3 so great as a rival story. Should’ve had us as Locke and really hammer the underdog feeling as a S-IV against THE pinnacle S-II, then for us to build ourselves through the campaign after defeat to finally stand a chance near the end. Locke should’ve earned the crack against Chief’s visor and I promise that if he did, most of the fanbase wouldn’t be so hostile towards him or even the S-IV program as a whole.
