I have had many, many fractures in the past, so this exercise is too painful for me to do in the standing position.

My vision is deteriorating... a year ago during an eye check up I was told by an optometrist that I had a cataract coming on in my right eye, but that it was nothing to worry about but over the last week or so I am noticing an obvious deterioration taking place. Can you offer any suggestions around improving my eyes at all and what I may be able to do to keep improving my eyesight?

Perhaps you require a more direct approach to correct what is actually interfering with relief to a healthy eyesight. Cataracts are, normally, brought upon at an elderly age. I find this most true due to poor posture in elders as they tend to bow forward, in the neck or back region, more than younger persons. At any age bowing forward tends to block chi, and shortens the breathe, and this brings opportunity for ailments and disorders as the breathe is much more than people give credit for - much more. If you are experiencing (1) cataract it is quite possible your head is tilted (chin is pointing more left/right) as well. I read considerable everyday. I began to notice excess tearing and slight blurriness without the use of eyeglasses at the age of 52. I realized that my neck, therefore my upper back, begun to bow forward - just slightly. This brought about a knee problem as well. Changing the thickness of a sleeping pillow was the second, and most productive, step in realigning the posture. I forced myself to sleep on my back - which was not comfortable for me personally in the beginning - but became my go to positions contently every night thereafter. Sleeping on the back, with the correct pillow, eliminated the bowing forward and re-established a more confident posture that permitted bending at the knees and back without pain as gravity, while sleeping on the back, seats in and realigns it all. Took about a week. We tend to run to easy listening tools or medicines or even more exercises when we must first realize what is actually causing our problem. In other words we must get out of our own way sometimes. So perhaps you can check your posture. Look in the mirror while standing comfortably - without countering your normal stance. Is the chin centered? Is the chin lifted upwards slightly instead of down in line with the feet. Look carefully. Make sure your ears (side view) are over your shoulders and not in front of them. Reestablish proper breathing manners - extend the breath more (in and out). Hope this helps.
