"*sniffle, sniffle* I-i want... i need.... grilled salmon... and the life of the hero!!!!" "hmmm master kohga is so dreeamy, i could stare at him all day" "For the bana- I mean for the boss!!"
Best voice actor award goes to............Master Kohga! "Because your threads about to get cut.....AND I'M THE SHEARS SNIP! SNIP!" He goes from a very serious voice to a funny loud voice!
I mean getting to voice the biggest dick character in all of fiction is an honor, you gotta give it your all or else you're gonna lose your voice entirely.
Eric Braa (voice of Khoga) really did not have to go as far as he did but he sure as hell did. He brought so much life and flare into this character and I love it.
Kohga actually turning around and going back to help Sooga instead of saving his own ass is possibly the best character development I've ever seen in a zelda game. (Granted, the bar is typically set at "Link is good, the bad guys are bad, everyone else is completely useless, and near the end of the game you'll find out that X character was secretly a princess or sage or something the whole time)
Actually, he isn’t the first Zelda Villain to side with the hero after getting backstabbed. He is the first one to survive it though, as far as I’m aware.
@TheSquishedElf I laughed so hard when I first heard him say that whenever you do the rolling/launch thingy with him, he makes it sound like you're gonna kill him lmaoo 😭😭😭
@@Acronixium WTF? How is a banana censorship? And how isn't It Canon? For Hyrule Warrios of BOTW? Cuz Warriors is already an IF story on it's own timeline. Why wouldn't It be Canon for Hyrule Warriors, tho? It's in the game!
I also like how he sticks to that during his DLC 2 mission the best he can. If you consider all the side missions to be canon to the events that played out, that also means he'll even protect the lower-rank Yiga when needed. You can definitely see why he remains the Yiga Clan's leader
@@AxtonTheObstagoon yeah he's just super charismatic. You can see this in botw when you defeat Kohga, and all of the yiga clan is now out for your blood.
@@SuperPrestogamer tbf he doesn't have any cinematics right? I haven't beaten him but once but it was just dialogue bubbles and in game model scenes, no actual heavy cinematics as those are saved for main quest stuff. Not disagreeing that it would be cool, but there's definitely a reason there, I think if they do a sequel(presuming we don't end the man in totk) to this one and make it a trilogy of games we could get Kohga joining the good guys and having a bit of a redemption arc of sorts. Who knows maybe HE becomes the new spirit sage lolol, after all no other shiekah seem to have inate powers or abilities like he does.
@@TheArtisticGamer7 no cinematics unfortunately. I love his character and made it a point to complete his side adventure as fast as I could. I was so under prepared for the later fights but it made them that much more fun.
don't let this distract you from the fact that kohga has to be 150 years old in totk. forget purah possessing the science to eternal youth, kohga himself is immortal
I think one of the lore books stated that "Kohga" is an identity passed down to everyone who takes leadership of the Yiga clan, but it really is more entertaining to imagine it being the same guy imo
i think this is just because the sheikah (which the yiga are) just live a really long time. take impa for an example, impa is a fully grown adult even before the calamity, and even lives until totk, the literal sequel to botw. in that time period, she goes from im guessing in her 20’s to being about 130 years old when you meet her in totk, still very active.
The more we saw of Kohga, the more convinced I’ve become that he’s not ineffectual; he’s just lazy lmao. Fucker doesn’t even need hand signs or a windup to teleport. He just…does it. And though I never played as him, I hear that his full combo chains are scary as heck. So yeah. He’s probably the most badass yiga, he’s just so used to laying back and eating bananas that he doesn’t properly apply himself anymore. Lord help us if he ever decided to get as serious as Maz Koshia…
The fact Kohga wears a mask the entire time, it really gives the VA a lot of liberty in regards to what words he can say and such since there’s no worrying about animating it.
Am I the only one that REALLY wants an animated show of this from Nintendo? Basically exact graphics and voices just a show. Bc sooga astor and Kohga are so hilarious. Mainly kohga
friendly reminder that this guy can do sheikah techniques like teleportation without hand gestures, only surpassed by Maz the mummy Koshia now imagine if he got serious and lost weight through a training arc
@@rokkraljkolesa9317 actually trying, in his prime kohga would be a nightmare Like fighting Maz koshia and sooga at the same time, but he also summons yiga clan members at will
Kogha demonstrates his legitimacy as leader not by how he leads, Sooga does most of that, but by the skills he knows (and that Sooga wouldn’t dare dream of toppling the man who saved his life). Kogha knows the highest levels of Shieka magic, things we only see done better by a 10,000 year old monk that is said to have immense prowess to be chosen as a shrine guardian. He can disguise so well to fool an entire rase of highly trained warriors to stand against the *princess of hyrule*. He can teleport immensely faster than we see any blademaster (except Sooga obviously). Between Kogha and Sooga, we’ve got the top dogs of both Sheika magic and swordplay, a terrifying combination
Kohga and Sooga’s ‘funny man, straight man’ routine was very likeable. Easily my favourite pair to play as, and just watch them go in general. The redemption of the Yiga in Age of Calamity was one of my favourite parts, reconciling this close knit clan of banana enthusiasts lead by a most loveable goofball and his ‘so stoic it’s funny’ right hand man and saving them from having to whoop em 100 years later.
i have a clip saved of when i was playing as kohga, he went "WATCH THIS!" then proceeded to get launched by a talus, it's still one of my favorites lol
1. You forgot him cheering for Purah when she reactivates Hateno Tower 2. When Astor turns on the Yiga, I think Kohga says “I can’t split, you’re my best lackey!”
We see the sort of effort using the sheikah/yiga arts needs from Impa, who puts her all in. Aaaand then you have Kohga, blinking about with a wave of his hand. For all Kohga is a lazy layabout with a fighting style best described as "nearly-aimless flailing", he's also absurdly skilled.
While Master Kohga makes (or at least tries to I guess) his escape, you can hear both "I guess but you're my best lacky" AND "I can't split - you're my best lacky". Just discovered this.
After seeing Kohga in BOTW and TOTK I kinda gave him a voice in my head, he sounded a particular way. And this is exactly that way. I love how it’s just as I imagined him sounding.
I find it to be a cardinal sin that neither Kohga's nor Robbie's VAs made a return in Tears of the Kingdom, because they did incredible jobs in Age of Calamity.
He's literally so iconic omg, I love him so much! Legit the best Zelda character of all time imo. Not to mention that he's also kinda... 😳 Like when he gets up in the camera shot and lowers his voice omg. He's so babygirl holy shit! I've seen some people talk about how they hate him and think that he's annoying, but honestly they just have bad taste!!! 😤😤😤
As little to no development he was given in BOTW, the freaking fanfiction spin off Hyrule Warriors game gave him so much that Kohga became one of my favorite characters ❤
Kogha was already funny in botw, being a silly leader to a dead serious group, but his moments in aoc are what really made me love him. So glad he ended up redeemeing himself, even if it was only in that timeline
He didn't form it, he just leads it. While granted he's managed to stay in pretty much the same condition for just over a century even after being chucked down a hole in the last few of them, he's probably not the thousands of years old the yiga were when they split from the sheikah.
Look, Kohga is obviously a complete joke, but he’s still the leader of the Yiga clan for a reason. He’s very skilled in the use of Sheika/Yiga magic, he’s loyal to those he considers his true friends (Like Sooga), and while he does not hesitate to kill in the name of Gannon, he still has basic morality. Which is better than most LoZ villains.
“Master Kohga being the best side character in age of calamity for 2 minutes“ Correction: Master Kohga being the best part of age of calamity for 2 minutes
I love how, for as much of a threat the Yiga are, when you really look at them, they're just a bunch of banana loving goofballs led by a brilliant dingus. They give me Team Skull vibes sometimes.
Makes sense, judging by his magical power, hes probably older than her. I mean, the only other character with a similar prowess in Sheika Magic is Maz koshia, Who is 10.000 years old. Kohga Must be very old too
Best characters in the game were Kohga and Sooga. The DLC expanded their story so much. I hope and believe he is still alive somewhere. A shame Sooga isn’t in any of the main games.
