His character description says it all, the reason he fights alongside Hyrule is to avenge his fallen friends, he’s remained Master for a reason, he fights for his fellow Yiga
I just realized Kogha DID stay That explains why Sooga is in the Secret Credits In botw he ran away, thats why Sooga died But he didnt run this time So im guessing Sooga was alive but in reaaaally bad shape so he couldnt help Kohga n the others when Fighting Ganon
Also something interesting is that the Yiga clan strictly follows the Italian-American Mafia structure. You have Kohga the boss, Sooga the underboss, Astor the consigliere, blade masters the capos, and foot soldiers the soldiers obviously. It seemed specifically designed to be aligned this way.
I wonder how the yakuza structure differs, because if it's the same they probably used that for reference. And it probably means that's just the best way to run a crime syndicate.
Yeah... in botw I was thinking that he was a completely useless idiot. Now I kinda like him. Why did you do this Nintendo. Now I feel guilty for possibly killing him.
I’d say one of the more heartwarming things is when you start the final story chapter, ‘The Future of Hyrule’ with Kohga in your party, he asks if Sooga is watching, that he’s going to get revenge on Ganon. God, that hurt…
One time I was fighting kohga and won He’s words of Defeat were “Someone has to be blamed for this...no that was all my fault” that was the moment kohga gained my respect because he’s not one of those villains who kill their own crew out of rage I can see now why the yiga clan respects him
I like that Sooga's reason for being so loyal to Master Kohga was because Master Kohga was nice to him and Kohga just doesn't throw that away by ditching him.
To anyone who didn’t keep up with the DLC, not only is Sooga a playable character, but you get to see an additional cutscene after this scene where they’ve successfully escaped, only for Sooga to fight solo against all 4 Blighted Ganon’s at once so Master Kohga can escape. Also- it’s revealed in the true ending credits that Sooga is still alive. How? Well, he supposedly fought all 4 ganon blights and won. Man’s just that much of a chad.
Sooga is stronger than the champions then. Man fought and bested the things that killed them after all, ALL AT ONCE I MIGHT ADD!!!! I hope him and Kohga appear in ToTK
@@benthecrusherofbooty676 From what I can tell, Sooga makes literally no appearance in breath of the wild, and Master Kohga is implied to have died in Breath of the wild as well at the end of his boss fight. Age of calamity takes place in the past, 100 years before Master Kohga should even be alive, yet somehow he appears in the game. What this means? No idea. But sadly the reality is neither are alive by the end of breath of the wild, while technically Sooga never existed in the main canon game. Age of calamity is an AU- and non canon to the main game sadly.
@@adamhawks3460 Master Kohga's alive as of TotK. Also, in the Loading Screen of this game it mentions how this game takes place in an alternate timeline
These 2 are complete and total opposites when it comes to seriousness, in their designs their personalities and even their titles, and I am so here for it
Anyone else play as Master Kohga, get that mid-battle message where he says "Are you watching Sooga?" and just get extremely sad at the almost undeniable implication that Sooga is dead. I never thought I'd feel so bad for the Yiga clan, but they were just a bunch of funny dorks in Age of Calamity, and that line in particular made it very difficult to convince myself that Sooga's just somewhere else running errands for the Yiga clan.
Not really, “ganon” may not care about them, but ganondorf clearly said, destroy this kingdom and her “allies”, so am sure ganondorf would use them, even tho he know they are useless against link himself, they are still useful for other dark and cruel things
Dude imagine if when you meet master kohga in botw link looks around in the cutscene as if he was expecting one more person to show up by instinct, but they never did. And he just stays confused for a second and maybe kohga gets angry and starts the battle. Now that’d break my heart
@@clonecommanderrex8542 The Hyrule Historia books Nintendo put out with BOTW states "Master Kohga" is a title. This Kohga isn't the same as the one in BOTW (but the one in TOTK is the same as the one in BOTW).
@@russieraholic_old you mean the credits scene right? I’m just wondering if I missed some other cutscene or something. And to the OP there’s rumours of a DLC involving Sooga so that might also hint to his survival.
And Astor said he needs a blood sacrifice to resurrect Calamity Ganon, but if Astor did kill Sooga, why not use him as the blood sacrifice. We clearly see Harbinger Ganon using Astor as the sacrifice instead, which suggests that Sooga escaped anyway. The Yiga clan are great at teleporting so Sooga could've quite easily waited for Kohga to get to safety, and then teleported out of there. He's enough of a match for Link and any of the champions (maybe not all at once) but Astor only used Link in the cutscene.
I’m gonna be honest… I always assumed kohgas ancestor was tingle, like I get “haha funny joke” but like I honestly legit always saw it like that . Tingle wore fully body suits, was out of shape and kept his eyes closed preventing you from being able to confirm if he’s a hylian or shika, and forced others to wear his silly outfits.
Pretty sure Tingle is Hylian based off his WW appearance. The sheikah are a forgotten race by the time WW happens, and tingle has only refined his greedyness.
I just realized, if sooga was still alive and just not present in botw, That means in botw 2 the yiga clan will be controlled by the might of sooga completely... Edit: *and he'll be pissed over kohgas death*
@Chimera 7885 Sure, but his hair would've at least greyed out. I'm pretty sure BotW Kogha is basically like Paya - a lookalike ancestor of an AoC character.
@@sunsetprincess5989 Wrong, Age of Calamity is canon. It created a timeline split where, in one timeline, the calamity was prevented, but in the other timeline, it was not. It's Legend of Zelda so of course there are more timelines. Edit: In one timeline (the one Age of Calamity creates because of Terrako), the events of BOTW do not happen. However, in the other timeline, BOTW still happens.
Kohga is actually pretty strong (maybe stronger than Sooga). He's just super lazy, so I think Sooga respects him because Kohga deserves the position of Chief of the Yga clan
Sooga isn't dead he appears in the Post Credits after you repair Terrako and hes playable in the DLC but when the game first came out Sooga should've been playable without DLC
Astor: despite our 'best' efforts, the enemy has only grown stronger if best efforts means Kohga and Sooga getting their butts kicked every time they face link and the others, then yeah, I guess you could call it that also, with the blights resurrected, there's no way Sooga survived Astor
@@liamdalemon1525erhaps they have a short teleportation range which takes up more energy than running the same distance, that way teleporting is more useful in combat but when it comes to fleeing running is more efficient
I’ll be honest, when I first played AOC, I didn’t catch the fact that Sooga died after the confrontation with the dude whose name is escaping me right now. He just kinda vanished and I didn’t give it a second thought.
Pretty sure the DLC implies he didn't even die, he was just too injured after 2v4ing all the blight flavors that he had to be hidden away somewhere to heal, while Kohga was still healthy enough to be pissed off and go over to help Zelda and co.
@TheEnderSmirk Which then means it makes no sense that he's not even mentioned in TOTK, despite being alive. I know AOC is a different timeline, but certain events still happen. It's not like Sooga didn't exist before Terrako popped up. Since Kohga is still alive, you'd imagine he is too. I don't see how he'd still be healing after over 100 years. Maybe the wounds were too bad for him to continue his service, sure, but after he and Kohga were so buddy-buddy, I don't know why Kohga never mentioned him.
@@Dipped1234 either A: Kohga is exclusively a last name, and they're just all obese (which I'd honestly believe) or B: Kohga has light levels of immunity to aging, considering he acts the exact same either way. I'd find it much more likely that botw Kohga is the son of AOC Kohga, despite the implication that that means Kohga somehow managed to reproduce. Either way, it seems likely that Sooga would have died of old age, like a normal person, by the time of botw, or died in combat after another of Kohga's insane plans, hence why Kohga now resorts to less direct warfare than he did 100 years prior.
Sooga doesn't actually die, I know this because when you rebuild Terrako and the new credits role, you see Khoga and Sooga together again when it shows the different characters that you played as.
Sooga didn’t die, check the gallery after kohga becomes playable, he’s got a bio explaining that he’s just temporary head of the yiga while kohga is away
@@speauks_4667 but Sheika can live that long. Impa, Purah and Robbie are all well over 100 years by the time of botw. Even ignoring Purah, because of her age reversal rune, they're still pretty capable. It would be his son at the most.
Not likely, because you see all the future champions too, but they had gone to their timelines. Also, Astor probably took his soul/biomass to power Ganon. If Astor took the other Yiga Henchmen, why would he not take Sooga as well.
SPOILER WARNING: After repairing Eggy, theres a second mission in fort hateno where if you choose not to have kohga as part of your team, he shows up later with Sooga and the rest of the Yiga to aid you
