I love it when people come along and play "classical" instruments to "modern" songs. It just more firmly cements my belief that people played the instruments of the past like these guys do. Sure not all the time and it was obviously not mainstreamed, but you cant tell me that it never was done when these instruments where first around.

They do look like Voldemort followers however, I find extremely restricted those people who are unable to listen to something else than what they are used to. It asks for a lot of talent and a great vision to make metal meet classical music. When you are really passionate, you realize that those two worlds are not far apart and that you can find a certain violence and urgency in metal and classical alike. But of course, this is way too complicated for people with basic taste and low culture to understand.

Apolcalyptica was my first contact with metallica, and heavy musics. Thanks for geting me in this world, thanks for giving me such a hard work with my cello.

Music at its finest, they're not trying to remake anything They love this music, they're just putting a different taste to it because they appreciate it so much.

You know...I still can't get over the fact that they are punks playing the cello...thats so freaking awesome it blows my mind. And makes me laugh at the same time....Oh how amazing all the people in the world are.

In my opinion, this really shows how much metal and classical music have in common, when it comes to the structure of the music.

I wonder how many people realize that when there are dislikes on a video like this it's probably people disliking the visuals or audio quality, not the song itself. They clearly wouldn't be watching the video if they didn't like the song.

This is so great for learning the songs since all the notes are much clearer without distortion.

For all of you who say this isn't talented, you are kidding yourselves. First of all, tabs wern't easy to find in '96, when this album was put out. Second of all, they rearranged this song, which is very hard to do. Do some research before you open your damn mouth. These guys can kick some ass.

I've heard of these guys but being a hardcore Metallica fan I do not get into covers of their songs but.......this is awesome stuff.....Long live symphony and metal!!!!!!

The fact this actually works is proof of the fundamental musical validity of Metallica's best stuff. I don't think stuff like "Battery" would work though. The middle melodic bit here was always classically inspired anyway.

When you listen to these musics written by Metallica and played in a classical way by Apocalyptica, you see the real power of metal music ! Metallica has been able to produce the kind of music that great 18th and 19th century musicians have done, and Apocalyptica brought us the way of playing them... EPIC !

I guess people don't realize that to get to that level of playing takes years of hard work, just like a guitarist or any other musician. Apocalyptica is just combining multiple passions, in orchestra we do thing like that all the time like eleanor rigby and anything else that the extremely bored bass section decides to cover to pass the time.

Thank you apocalyptica, thank you metallica, thank you ALL GREATEST METAL BANDS THAT MAKE THE MUSIC WORLD SHINE! Metal is my religion! \m/

@kliann It is considering the historical implications of how impossible it could be shedded from American breeding, various diverse tribes and languages, most of which fought eachother of course.

I'ce been playing guitar for over 25 years...."Master" is just a flat out hard song to play....not note-wise....but the amount of rythm picking with the right hand.....these guys are just flat out insane! Killer!

IM NOT MAD ! I always argued with my friend that some classical songs had a ''metal'' feel. Im glad some other people agree with me.

It's Metallica covered by an f'n string quartet. And done REALLY WELL. I wish these guys would come to memphis, Tn. And yes, I raised BOTH hands!!!!!!!!!! I appreciate both kinds of music and I think everyone will agree that this requires ALOT more talent than "crossing over" from rock to country or visa versa. Long live metal in all it's many forms(Randy Rhodes)!

@furion111111 cause this is a release off Apocolyptica's album 'Plays Metallica', this is a reinterpretation of the original & therefore an original composition seeing as there wasn't one for cello.
