When two things you love deeply - Metallica and Stranger Things, suddenly combine... The joy is overwhelming! Its like Heaven on Earth! Most Metal Ever!!!!!! 🤘🤪😆 R.I.P. Eddie Munson!
It also adds a few flashes of the Upside Down ambience (red lightning and spooky/twisted environment) to the show to give it a darker feel. At least for short bursts. R.I.P to the new Lord of Metal: Eddie Munson.
Fun fact: just before this performance, Joseph Quinn(Eddie) met with Metallica and actually jammed out with them, AND received a guitar similar to the one he used in Stranger Things, signed by all four band members
These guys would play their asses off if you hired them to play a toddler’s birthday party. They sound better now than EVER. And I’ve seen them since the 80s.
Are we listening to the same thing? Extremely sped up and totally out of sync a vast majority of the song. They're notorious for sped up live performances but this is down right absurd... awful tone, botched harmonies and missed/out of key notes everywhere. I highly doubt they were this bad in the 80s
@@skydogfpv Haha shut up. They have been playing their asses off for 40+ years and they still got it. Obviously it wont sound the same. You are just plain ignorant
@@skydogfpv wow! You expect a band to play at that pace and energy level for two hours, live, and sound like a digital recording? If they did they’d be standing around shoe gazing and it would be boring as crap. I’m there for the energy, not to chart their missed notes. And yes, they were actually very sloppy in the 80s because they played even faster. Watch some old videos and see for yourself.
I got goose bumps watching that scene on Stranger Things. Seeing how its taken on a life of its own with this younger generation is amazing. I remember seeing the video when the song origanaly came out. They are literally still killing it in their 60's!!!
My best friend and I decided to watch those last two episodes at her parents' house, with a giant TV and surround sound set up all around the living room. We had goosebumps and even teared up a little, it was so glorious
Yeah, I truly don't understand why people resent when younger people in particular learn about a song from a movie, TV show or video game. It keeps those songs fresh and alive for new generations.
I'd say Manchester from 2019 beats it just by a nose-hair, but both are great performances of the song. Also, check the one from Howard Stern's studio in like 2016. Sounded fantastic.
THE best concert I’ve ever been to. The guys are older but still sound great with a great production. They were out talking and passing out picks/sticks for another 15 minutes after the show ended. Gracious.
i love how they paid homage to eddie by using his video on the big screens, that's the best way to honor him and i just know he would lose his mind if he saw this
@@IG00-3 Don't you want Metallica to get popular again in the mainstream? This will lead to more good metal being played on radio stations instead of that crap that's on now. Metallica welcomes everyone to listen and enjoy their music, regardless of when, or when they heard it. I've been hearing this on the radio lately and I've never heard it before on there...ever. Metallica was the band the introduced me to the great heavy metal bands. Before I was just into those radio rock bands.
@@RBKluuzGH heard it a thousand times on the radio before. This won't bring in new fans, the younger generarion listens to the one song they like on their playslist, not artists. They'll have mop on their playlist and that's gonna be about it including entersandman. Now this song isn't even about a great band anymore, it's somefucking how about a fictional character...? what in the fuck. People don't discuss the meaning of the lyrics or the composition, they talk about stranger things. This song is just a trend, it won't bring back heavy metal🙄 That argument is bullshit when you underatand how the younger generation listens to music. They jump on songs like this and those trends just to project an image of a person they're not. This is the shallowest way people have ever listened to music.
Haven't been listening to Metallica in a while, but Im surprised how tight this is. Feels like they've taken some youth-potions are getting better than ever. And James' voice is really awesome here.
In my opinion I think James has a hidden singing voice he wouldn't let anyone really listen too. A few snippets here and there and its barely noticeable, but its there🧐
This wasn't even particularly tight... Bunch of out of sync moments and flubs. I like Metallica but you have to be honest. I'll even forgive stuff like that if it's a particularly energetic or exceptional performance like they had in Manchester that year it was raining but this isn't that, just a little sloppy.
@@fergar0206 Metallica has never been tight like Tool or Dream Theater, but being Metallica (and yes, I heard a few missed notes) I think this was a good performance.
Such a complex, multi-layered song, the arrangement alone is pure genius. How on earth does someone come up with this out of nothing?!? You have to be an idiot to not appreciate how epic this is. And the same can be said for about 80% of their music overall. Metallica should be taught in music theory at school.
man, you have to investigate by who was created such a beautiful song and other masterpieces by Metallica spoiler: it was created by very talented song writer, which is a dark horse and you will not find him on the stage
What the actual fuck are you talking about? Just stop. It’s embarrassing. It’s a hard rock song. There’s absolutely nothing complex, multi-layered, or genius to it. It has a couple different structures, that ain’t anything new or exciting.
I know, they sound pretty cold, like they didn't warn up. Sends chills up my spine too. What's with all these fanboys that cream over everything these guys do when they haven't done anything worth a damn in 30 years?
@@DannyBridie No. They sound horrible. And I'm roasting fanboys not fans. I am a fan. I'm also honest. This is no way a good performance. Saying otherwise is an insult to everything great Metallica actually did.
They still got it!!! And better than ever!! They absolutely killed this entire set as well as this song. Definitely buying my tickets next time they're in my area! I'm a huge Stranger Things fan but also a die hard Metallica fan and have been for years. It's amazing to see the amount of new fan love they have received. Metal forever!
@@Slipperyslope92 Perhaps my enthusiasm was a bit off, but it was really great seeing them like this. I mean these guys are A LOT older now so the fact they can perform like this still is pretty amazing.
I’m glad these guys did a cover to Eddie Munsons song from Season 4 of the show Stranger Things. Cudos to these old heads for keeping up with the times! MOST METAL EVER!🤟🏻
I don't know what's cooler; their nod to Eddie or that they're like 60+ and still killing this!! I'd like to know how much the tickets were near the stage!
if the question was rhetorical please ignore this. if not, it's lollapalooza, so you pay for a ticket to the festival and try and get there super early so you can get up by the stage. it's the same cost for everyone in the crowd.
@@sharkn3rd ah okay. I've never been to events like that so I was having a feeling tickets would be different from regular concerts, just wasnt sure. Ignore my brain rot question lol
As long as Metallica keeps performing I'll keep attending. I've lost count by this point. Every single performance is just as memorable as the last. Until we all Fade to Black. 🤘🤘
@@alejandroalavaro I know he was backstage and met them, but how do you know he was in the mosh pit for this song? cuz if so, that man has just earned the best coolness points. A popular actor jumping into a mosh pit is pure respect
The black album is what got me into music when I was a kid in the 90's. Then I fell in love with their older stuff. Seeing them live is near the top of my bucket list, definitely gotta make that happen soon.
@@Teh_Random_Canadian worth it man. They really are fantastic live and I dont care what anyone says I've seen lots of bands but Metallica shows are sensational. The fans are first class
A new generation of people are finding them thanks to Stranger Things, but you act like Metallica wasn't one of the biggest bands on the planet for most of the last 40 years.
I'm glad Billy Strings gained some new fans at this festival.... Plenty of AWESOME bands/artists out there you never heard of who have been paying their dues and will never be played on mainstream radio, just like BMFS..........
@@CPAJayhawk exactly! You can tell he really brushed up and focused on the solo for this one because of the significance in relation to ST and knowing that all eyes are on them. He definitely just rolls through the motions on all the other concerts
Why did I just now find these guys! They are incredible at preforming! Even pulling in the audience to sing those little bits is amazing! I came to enjoy Metallica because of Eddie, and I’m glad I did because these guys are such amazing human beings
I would recommend you to listen to their other Great songs like One, The Unforgiven, Fade to Black, and many more, but you'll love these ones as a new fan.
Wouldn't say that I'm a die-hard Metallica fan, I like a lot of their tracks and have been listening for about 15 years, but there are definitely bigger fans out there. That said.. When Master of Puppets came on S.T. I scared the living shit outta my other half screaming with joy at the TV and cranked the volume up to *11*. Most euphoric feeling I'd ever had watching a TV show! This show was nigh on perfect, the only way and I mean literally *the only way* it could have been any better was if Joseph was up there jamming with them, even if just for the beginning of the track 🤘
I can't smash "like" on this enough. I've seen them live twice and they always put on a helluva show. Stoked to see Eddie Munson in the background. Absolutely badass.
Metallica is one of the greatest! Have seen them live 10 times and they are still sounding amazing! Jaymz is AWESOME!!!! Cheers and beers up from Sweden.. 🤘🍻
I've been listening to these guys for all my life, they made the music that raised me. I'm so glad people are discovering them thanks to Stranger Things, which I also love. I don't understand the animosity some old fans have towards new fans, the more the merrier! 🤘
Muito legal terem colocado a cena do Eddie tocando no telão, mostrou pros Tr00zão que estavam chorando porque a música tocou na série e muita gente passou a conhecê-la agora, que eles só estão passando vergonha.
James, Kirk and Lars are 58-59 years old here. For comparison go watch a clip of "Roy Orbison & Friends", recorded when Roy was 51. He died of a heart attack a year later. It is amazing how well these guys have taken care of themselves and how differently people age these days.
With a Master concert like that Metallica can tun any place in the world UP SIDE DOWN back to live 🤘 the idea to put Stranger Things Master of Puppets on the screen brought the crowd wilder then ever, love you Metallica ❤🎸🤘
I remember when I first saw them open for Ozzy back in 86. We were late showing up and Metallica was already on playing. We had to walk up some stairs to get to the area and as I topped the stairs I saw 10,000 people banging their heads like I had never seen before. At that moment I knew life as I would never be the same. 🤘🤘🤘
@@StrangerBlocks y'know, Metallica is awesome asf, but if someone deserves to be named the jesus of metal is gonna be Lemmy or Dio, those dudes lived and died for the metal
my dad has always been a die hard metal fan ever since i was born, so its nice to hear one of his favorite songs from my favorite show. im def getting into metal a lot more.
This is by far one of the best performances of this song I have ever seen/heard! They do indeed get better and better and James' singing is better and better! Amazing
There was a time in the early 2000s when I thought James' voice was degrading and by now I figured his voice would be totally shot to hell. Being young I was wanting to hear that grit and distortion of his '80s voice and in hindsight I don't know what I was thinking. Not only is his voice still intact, he sounds BETTER than he did 20 years ago! That never happens....props to Hetfield; I feel silly for ever doubting him.
Based off of footage of other live metal performances, I’m half blown away at how amazing James sings live, half just thinking “well, was there ever any doubt?”
Holy fuck, James' voice gives me serious chills here. I really hope I can attend a Metallica concert one day. These guys are absolutely legendary! Also, side note. It makes me so happy seeing them get the attention they deserve from Stranger Things. I love seeing all of these people come together and get introduced to one of, if not the greatest metal bands out there!
By far the best band to do ever do it. The legacy the History The Pain and Suffering they have endured. I cant think of any band to have this longevity as far as playing the same music from damn near what 30 yrs ago. And still today is like hearing it for the first time. Same energy Same Songs but still hits harder than an acme anvil. It's just in real the accomplishments of this band. Playing right along with the San Francisco symphony. I mean come on the list just grows and they aren't done yet. It's truly in real. Witnessing a History that will never repeat again. ROCK ON 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
These guys have officially reached boss level. I've been a fan since I was a kid, and have been an ST fan since it first aired. This resurrection gives me chills.
How can people just be hearing about Metallica from a show? It's like you were walking around in life with your fingers in your ears... They have been in movies, commercials, pinball machines and video games since the 80's. Make it make sense
