Eddie Munson absolutely shredding on the guitar in the Upside Down? Consider my ticket bought. Stranger Things 4 Volume 2 is now streaming, only on Netflix.
This scene deserves a Golden Globe or any other award they give when they recognize an excellent scene like this... Specially this part 1:15 I've been repeating it a lot. It's an excellent shot! It gives me chills. Sorry for my english i'm learning by my own. ;)
@trunx1234 you didn't have to be an ass but here your are. You gain nothing for being mean. I gain nothing for calling you out but someone had to say it.😅
The fact that Eddie could have literally just made noise with the guitar but decided “nah imma play some Metallica” instead makes this scene even more epic than it is.
@@SightUnseen555 weeks* the show's events start on March 21st, Master of Puppets came out March 3rd. Eddie Munson was a true master, and had really promising future as a guitarist.
fr dude and the camerawork and master of puppets combined with the atmosphere of the situation is an absolute masterpiece. stranger things never disappoints.
"In their last moments, people show you who they really are.." The Chrissy this is for you line shows just exactly what kind of person Eddie was. Risked his own life trying to save the world and avenge a girl he barely knew b/c he has compassion. Never judge a book by it's cover
He also chose to sacrifice himself when he could have left with Dustin. Decided this time I'm not going to run. If he went back with Dustin the bats may have followed through the gate and invaded Hawkins. True hero.
Well he barely knew her, but he clearly had feelings for her. I mean if they hadn't both died, who knows, maybe Eddie and Chrissy would have ended up together.
@cameroncalger8724 he was, but I definitely got the sense that he was crushing on her. I mean look at him, trying to impress her by talking about his nand.
Nothing can top this scene, Eddie was shredding heavy metal to distract a swarm of demon bats whilst in another dimension with a red lightning storm in the background, Most Metal Ever.
Yes, to die side by side with that character after that epic solo would grant us both access to Valhalla, and if not then on to another epic battle taking Valhalla.
And to think this album came out weeks before the spring break which means Eddie learned it perfectly and performed under intense pressure. Dudes a madlad
Don’t stop! I started in HS and then stopped after about a year because I hit a plateau. Picked it back up last year and it’s my biggest regret not keeping up with it-how good I could have been if I had those extra 12 years under my belt. It is not an easy instrument but it is SO satisfying when you get good; keep pushing through!
ehh i low key was gona agree with u untill i read some comments and watched it more carefully even gave netflix some props then the painfull truth hit and after all its still netflix and best thing they do is eff things up lol yeah the finger movements and were hes "hiting" the strings are on the curect frets and all but if u look closely at his picking hand thats what gives it away at 0:38 hes not playing it but i will give it to him one of the best fakes a show has used dude actually bothered to learn the notes but it is james hetfield even someone that plays guitar it wold take them atleast half a year of playing to even be able to play master of puppets at half the tempo unles they some kind of prodigy lol
@@_boreklipogaca like the first part till he got to the galops seems hella real cuz even the tempo was slower then the original thats what made me think it was real cuz of the slower tempo but ones it got to the 38 sec mark and i looked at his picking hand im like ok not real but he did bother to learn the notes cuz the fingers are on the right strings and the right frets but unless you have some time playing guitar ur not going to get those down strokes at tempo ... low key that song is the staple for any guitarist learing how to down pick its like the holy grail of down picking if u can play that at tempo with just down strokes then u can play anything lol
This became my favorite scene in the entire show. I absolutely love the usage of some of the best metal ever made in such a mainstream show. So aweosme
@@buknaked ohhhh~ but for me he became one of my fav characters and also like he came in like 4th season and then ended up dying on the last ep and like that scene when he said that dialogue, dudeee it really broke me :′(
The fact that Eddie's actor was actually playing in real time too is incredibly impressive. I love this show's attention to detail, use of diegetic sounds, and practical effects.
I was so hoping his actor actually shredded this solo instead of it just being a stunt double or whatever the equal to that would be. A character's role always comes through the best when the actor fully embraces the role.
It’s so cool. What they did was they got Rob Trujillo’s (Metallica bassist) son to record the guitar for this, but Joseph actually played the song while filming this scene. I’m a metalhead myself, I know this whole song like it’s the back of my own band and watching his hands it is clear he actually knew what he was doing! God i love this scene and i love this show.
@@jacobfletcher7201 im a guitarist, I pointed this out in our discord community that he actually had correct finger placement, whether he was actually playing it or not don't know.
Playing Master of Puppets with red lightning in the background, and demonic hell bats swarming around you.. Yeah, that is one of the most metal ways to go out.
Dustin isn't lying when he says "most metal ever!" Eddie Munson just played Master of Puppets in a dark alternate dimension full of deadly monsters and a creepy red storm. Nothing can beat that.
Let’s take a moment to really think about how awesome Eddie really is: Season 4 takes place in Spring of 1986. Master Of Puppets was released just before Spring in 1986. This means that Eddie learned and mastered this, one of the most difficult down picking songs ever, in a couple months. And he played it perfectly under all that pressure. Most. Metal. Ever.
This is THEE single best scene of the entire show thus far IMO....will never forget watching it for the first time and being powerless to resist the headbanging and jaw dropping.
i know it’s a tv show but dustin had one of his best friends risk his life to save everyone and die in his arms and still had the courage to talk to eddie’s uncle and tell him he died a hero. that’s something that would be impossible to get over
@@aidan3277 Actually... I get it bro. The thought of this scene being just kinda stupid did came trough in my mind, but then it got to me... and realized that in the end it all comes down to attitude. Just look at what is going on in the scene! the song I've always loved since my teenage years, the background, the hell-bats, the red lightning, the ambientation... its just sooo well executed! and then mah boy Dustin just headbanging like a true metal maggot! Srsly It just somehow draw a smile in my face and I went from being laying down in my couch with a "meh, its ok" attitude to literally sit down straight and starting to headbang a little and eventually straight up screaming "Hell yeah man!" to my screen (and to my wife, who was also watching hahaha) like I was in a freaking show or something, we enjoyed it sooo much!!! I suddenly became all about it and just let myself get driven by the moment. And srsly that song... Damn, it just fits PERFECTLY with what was going on! and the character and the way they pulled it off, its so freaking awesome! So please... dont be THAT guy. The sour, party-boomer guy... You decide how you react to everything. And tbh the scene is *legit* cool... easily the best scene in the whole 4 seasons and just made this franchise immortal IMO. Gotta love it!
That is the most badass thing any mortal could do! Playing metal rock in an alternate dimension while being swarmed by demo-bats as lightning storms in the background! Eddie Munson is a legend! ⚡️🎸⚡️🎸⚡️
I’m Gen X and I took my kids to the Pantera and Metallica show last night in Dallas. My kids are 22, 12, and 9, and they’ve been raised around metal so they knew most everything played but when they played Master of Puppets I watched little kids jam out and sing along and it made me so happy to see these newer generations feeling it. Thank you Stranger Things for helping keep metal alive 🤘🏻
When you realize that Eddie didn’t even need to play a song; he literally could have just strummed the guitar and hit whatever cords but he chose to play Metallica because that’s how metal he is
I didn’t realize he said, “ Chrissy, this is for you.” That makes this scene even better. He’s affected by her death too, but unlike the jock bf, Eddie directs his efforts constructively. Not starting a freaking mob. Hawkins true hero.
He was damn afraid of these all paranormal things, but he kept going despite everything. That's the definition of hero. Dustin was right, when he told his uncle that Eddie was a hero
I never saw too much of this scene, I have had to watch it several times... I just cant stop the headbanging. Eddie freaking nailed that performance, NAILED IT.
my dad was a big Metallica fan and we started watching stranger things when it first came out and sadly he passed last year, but I just know he would’ve LOVED Eddie in season 4 and absolutely LOVED this scene. Literally the whole time I was watching I was imagining what his exact reaction to this scene would be and thinking oh man, look at what your missing out on 🥺
@@hyrulemazta2296 These two along with imo Eleven closing the gate are the best epic scenes in the series, but there's also a few of the smaller just characters talking moments that I would say are just as good.
@@stevel7798 agreed but the “i didnt run this time” thing annoyed me lol, he already had his hero moment, stopping to face the bats instead of continuing to distract them on his bike was just idiotic and made no sense. was just a dumb way of killing the character:/
@@billaniii Yeah that bugged me too. He should have been a permanent addition to the cast. But I guess you never know who the fans resonate with while you're filming.
I literally loved Eddie's character as soon as we were introduced to us and this scene literally had me so hyped dude. I was on the edge of my seat this scene was awesome. Definitely has to be up there in terms of best scenes in tv history right, it's got to be up there.
Best scene in the whole show. Not sure if even a scene in season 5 can top this. I mean how do you top playing heavy metal in an alternate dimension in order to attract a swarm of flying monsters
Being a guitar player, it's typically pretty easy to spot when somebody is faking it for a movie. It's cool to know Joseph actually knows what he's doing. It makes the scene that much more badass.
@@ericagibson9814 not true, one of the guys from Metallica son actually played the solo… Joseph said hes a guitarist, but not a metal guitarist in an interview about the scene
@@kamoflawedhawg535 He actually "played" the song though. What they did was have Joseph play the song and they dubbed the son playing over it. Because Joseph goes note for note with the song as it's played. If you know how to play the song you can watch him play it just fine in the show.
I watched this clip first couple months ago cause I know the song before watching the show. I finished the show yesterday and this scene was truly a masterpiece 🔥
i feel like they were considering him or steve, considering how they were both older brother figures to dustin, but i dont think people would forgive them for steve
Later civilisations who don't even speak English will be trying to work out the significance of "This is for you Chrissy" and why this man said it before shredding in beast mode.
@@MACnCHEESE110 you’re right, this is going to be the MOST iconic scene and we will be showing our kids and grandkids this scene for generations to come
The sad part is that cliff died in September 1986 and this takes place march 1986. Thats an omage to cliffs life because he worked on master of puppets. His death is after march but its still respectful
It's crazy how this character was so obviously telegraphed to die and yet the writing and acting came together in the perfect way to make him an immediate icon in the fandom. I have my issues with season 4 but Eddie Munson is one of the greatest things this show gave us; there's nothing more reassuring than someone who makes you feel like it's okay to be who you are, and Joseph's performance carries such genuine big brother energy that you can't help but love him. Eddie was a hero long before he went to the Upside Down, because he was a dude who went out of his way to let people who feel out of place know they aren't alone.
I feel you man. As much as I love Stranger Things, I really hate how they keep writing characters like Alexei and Eddie essentially just into death. It’s a shame. But overall, really well written character and AMAZING solo.
What I love about eddie is he is being true to himself. He doesn't do what he does because he thinks it's cool, he does it because he enjoys it! He plays DnD even though most kids think its weird. He acts playful and crazy not because its a trend, but because it really is his personality. He doesn't act tough and strong, he knows to himself that he isn't a hero type. Everything he does is the true reflection of himself! Even in his last breath, he never stopped being himself. Eddie probably saved alot of people even before vecna. He saved alot of bullied and rejected kids from their loneliness. Eddie is a true hero.
It’s so rare that metalheads get a good portrayal in popular media and Eddie really proved himself to be very loveable and metal af. Rip Eddie, you broke the mold and made the metal community proud especially with this legendary performance
He was sweet, had a strong personality and was funny as hell. He became one of the most lovable characters in a well strablished show in a season and had a meaningful death. Cannot ask more, really...
“Made the metal community proud”. I understand that metal doesn’t get portrayed good but dude he played a not hard song, it’s badass but not anything special
@@vel1949 the point is not that its hard the point was that this is what a metalhead would have learned when it came out. If you think metal is only represented through complexity then you're just full of shit.
@@ReginaCopado uuuhhh....he was still selling drugs to kids and about to be a drop out. I think that's the usual cliche used for metalheads. I'll be impressed when they deviate from that. I loved the scene but it's not that special
Completed my first half marathon with this blasting in my ears. With my man by my side for the last little bit across the finish line. Emotional moment the song made and epic too. Thank you Eddie for making this song be a part of my running playlist!
He didn’t play it sorry to break it to you. They had a real guitarist, he learned some of the finger motions to look authentic but he didn’t actually play
@@davidmejias4129 in an interview he said that actually a good chunk of it was actually him playing. he used to play guitar growing up and its not too hard of a song to learn when you know how to play
@@sammyofficial1 Songs got leaked early back then, just like they do today. MoP was recorded at the end of 85, so he actually would have had a couple months probably.
Hey he was left in the upside down, while it may seem sad, think about how badass it would be if Eddie came back as a soldier of the Mind Flayer his guitar leading the charge of demo-beasts, and he comes through the gate playing something like Stranger in a Strange Land or Power Slave by Iron Maiden
This scene just described my whole last summer. One of my favorite scene in all of Stranger Things. I bet nothing in Stranger Things 5 will beat this scene.
OMG, I sobbed through the entire scene from the point where Eddie decided to turn the bats' attention on himself all the way through until past the point where he died. Then, later in the episode, I sobbed again when Dustin was talking to Eddie's uncle and told him Eddie died a hero. I'm even getting choked up just typing this 😭
Not one character should give the vibes of being permanent. In a show where every season is dangerous they should put their characters in danger. Although I would’ve rather them killing off someone from the main cast since season 1 since it would’ve been more impactful and it would’ve given one of their best characters more than a season to shine.
Honestly I think his death was easily foreshadowed and seen by the fans BUT he was immortalized like someone else said here. Now when I think of Stranger Things this scene and his death will be with me. The man was running for his life since like episode 1 but he finally decided to do something brave and yeah he died but he died knowing he helped save the day.
Honestly, while his death was sad, what was he going to do if he made it out alive, everyone thought he was the one killing all of the teens. Heck, even afterwards, everyone blamed his "cult" for the "earthquake" so he was screwed regardless. Honestly I think him dying was the best possible option for what could have happened to him because he died a hero rather than a coward.
Honestly, This was perfect! Think about it, Everyone will know who he is, what he did, and how he ended, A true metal head. The kind of folks who run to danger like its a slumber party, that’ll take meaning of “Having balls” 30 levels up because these kinda folks are not the average joes hell even gangsters show them proper respect because being an OG is nothing like a rockstar we all know it. and Eddie Munson is the prime example of WHO THEY ARE. Legends withen a few moments
