For anyone who just remembered this was a thing and is wondering what happened to it, it's apparently still in the writing process according to Steamroller Animation.
Her moves are the most martial arts accurate that I've seen in animation. (Fantasy moves aside, of course.) I loved the work on the wooden man. RESPECT.
I am liking this the more I see it. The Creators of Spider-Verse. Have a gold mine of how everything looks. The Freckles on her face, How her hair looks. The Art Style. I am hoping this becomes the norm of how other animated Movies look. It's very detailed. I love it. I am a sucker for this kind of depth of art.
I am really, really hoping this doesn't become the norm Spiderverse knew exactly what it was doing by picking that animation style. They knew exactly how to use it and manipulate it for the perfect comic book feel. I'm dreading the day when we start getting imitators who miss the point, and just make their animated films shitty and choppy for no reason.
Producer : "We need the protagonist to be as cool as possible!!" Animator : "Cargo pants, tank top, practicing martial arts in abandonned warhouse with grafiti everywhere?" Producer : "YOU F*CKING GENIUS!!"
The animator : and what if made the picture fall and break to show that it represents something that's broken in her life'' Producer : you need a godamn raise
Animator : and what do i do for the rest of the story? Producer : what do you mean the rest of the story ? We need a story? We already have a cool protagonist
A new female super hero done right so far, not some carbon copy/replacement of an already known hero, original and obviously has motivations even if we don't know them yet. I am certainly looking forward to this movie!
I'm getting some "revenge" vibes from that ending scene where she looks at the photo of I assume that's not her, and it looks like it could be her sister or "master" who was killed and now she's training to seek vengeance as when she looks at the photo she gets sad and then gets even more determined and angry almost like she's avenging who ever is in the photo, consider me hooked
I think that was actually her from the past, because if you search up “what is MASTER animated movie about” you see that she was a “once-promising martial arts champion”, so I’m guessing something happened and that picture was her from the past.
It is a good question. From what I understand, it was a trope that originated from Hanna-Barbera when they created Black Vulcan, which the creators cloned from Black Lightning who was _already_ a character in the Superfriends Cartoon. So I guess you can boil it down to a bunch of old white guys lacking creativity.
The talk of the town is black people naturally resonate high electricity and it's connected to melanin, plus its the strongest element so I'm here for it😎👍🏾
It's hilarious that this song is just the instrumental to Ice Cube: Smoke Some Weed. A movie about superheros and fitness orchestrated to a song about smoking weed. XD
@@pawprinting calm down it's just a funny coincidence. It's not unusual for creative projects to repurpose things while taking away the original meaning, which this in particular just wanting the background beat from the song
@@getschwifty5537 Its not a coincidence. This is literally an instrumental version from the original song that even includes the identical riff: "Smoke Some Weed" which can be heard within the trailer itself. Artists definitely re-purpose things all the time like you said, but someone has to go out of their way to pick a particular track and this one is pretty blatant regarding the message it conveys so there's no way that someone just overlooked that. At the very least they could have removed the riff too if they were as you put it: trying to take "away from the original meaning". Its true that kids will listen to just about anything these days regardless of the fact, but I just find it really interesting that they didn't chose a theme that more corresponds with the atmosphere of the scene such as Kung-Fu based action music or a super hero theme like they did with spider verse. This thrown in the background as a beat just gives off a distracting Ghetto Vibe making it difficult to really resonate with whats happening on screen (the girl's actual struggle I suppose) and I feel they only chose it because the character is represented as a Black female. Its obviously a serious moment on display here and the artist wants US as the viewer to take EVERYTHING in and the character very seriously, but the "smoke some weed" just throws that off and comes across as more stereotypical. One of the things that made spider-verse so great was the lack of Woke stereotypes and empowerment nonsense that usually pollutes or drives everything these days. It was a GREAT story with ZERO focus on race, gender, sexuality or equality because the only thing that mattered was the character development and challenges that each spider person faced and more importantly overall the PLOT. They respected Peter Parker's character as a hero, mentor and possible parent and I really liked that. Hopefully the creators can learn from everybody else's mistakes and actually do the whole thing justice like they did with Spider Verse in the Pre-Woke Era.
@@loneshadow-studio uhh, that's just you, bro. The beat made it seem more 'urban/underground' in my mind. If i focused on the beat, and looked into it that hard it would ruin my experience having watched it. Just enjoy the video.
@dat dude Nope. I'm not the only one. In this modern era there is always a woke political agenda involved and it's designed for the purpose of manipulating and influencing how people think, mainly young people. If you think I'm overblown on this just check out a particular video on the official Steamroller Studios youtube channel. It is called: "MASTER GIRL POWER" The comments are disabled because people who think a certain way do not support other peoples opinions and prefer them to be silent so that ONLY THEIR opinions gets out in the open. They aren't able to handle the point of view of someone with different beliefs or a person who just thinks differently from the mainstream narrative being pushed. That video really told me everything I needed to know about the whole direction this project will most likely be going. If I'm wrong and other people were wrong too in what they already suspect, there is no reason for the studio behind the animation to post a video like that. Its important for them that everybody knows who they POLITICALLY stand behind which is ridiculous because it has ZERO to do with animation OR a good story. See that's the problem already. But if you enjoyed the actual animation and just hone in on that then this is good. I tried to do that as well since I'm an artist and 3D animator and I like how this style is starting to grow, but MY EYES are open to the world and I STILL CANNOT ignore what I see. Cheers though to the possibility of this JUST being a great movie without the directors and creators trying to cram an ideology down everybody's throats.
Dude, this trailer is literally a third of the length of most trailers, has only one character being shown off, has no talking from the character, no cliche narrator or cliche pop up text, and no use of recent or popular pop music from famous artists, and still manages to catch my attention better than most other movie trailers I've seen from the past couple years. For real though, this trailer presents the movie in such a unique way that it actually catches your eye, And the actual content in the trailer is interesting as well.
Fun facts about the stylistic similarities with Spiderman : 1-It's done by Peter Ramsey, one of the person responsible for creating that animation style in SITSV. 2-It almost didn't happen because Sony tried to file patent protection for this style of animation but thankfully it was rejected, so now other flicks can use it.
Soooooo….. anyone got any recent updates on this project? Are we still in the writing stage? Has production started? Or has the whole thing been scrapped?
Stoned Theory: I swear it's because of some deep trauma or a relative they were close to died. Then they deal with racism on top of it too, it just makes a perfect storm to create some kind of power out of it. Maybe because we've gone through more BS than most race have(not saying all, but you get the point), we're seen as powerful beings. Thus giving us the ability of electricity. Maybe that's it.
like a previous commenter said electricity is life and death....you create or destroy with it, stop or start a heart, end all technology in a instant. Plus they black people look so damn good using it.
I rarely liked 3d animation for some reason. But the smear frames, the effects and realistic animations in this trailer are amazing! I love her freckles
Static shock is my all time fav hero (after BATMAN) so take this comment with a grain of sand...why does it seem like the majority of black heroes powers have to be some form of electricity manipulation?
Realistically built female protagonist? Check. Accurate martial art movements? Check. Seems to be dealing with personal problems? Check. (Supposed) Mother-ducking lightning powers? Checkity-check check check.
It's really nice, but, just a question probably naive : when the character removes hers shoes, why her skin is white... Really white. Does it seem like a mistake ? An other character ?
Well, I just discovered my new favourite female superhero, this is badass to the nines!!! Might be a dumb question, but does anyone know who she is? Haven’t seen her before anywhere in Marvel or DC, so is there another comic book company I’m forgetting about? Is this even based on a comic? Someone please let me know
Everyone is talking about Miles...but I have a different theory. What if shes the daughter of "The Last Dragon" (Leroy). #whosTheMaster? Shes got yellow on & displaying electric attacks.
