Oogway appeared in only thwo of the three movies and not for that long, and is one of my favorite characters i mean, just look at him!, he is like a really wholesome grandpa! "Our Battle was 500 years ago!" "well now im ready for a rematch..." "Took you long enough, hehehe" that fricking laugh was wholesome
@@leooo770 Nah, I'm not so sure. But in my opinion, it means that when you just take something and not earning it instead, makes you a cheater, only cheating on yourself. And as a result, it just makes you learn and grow less than you should. Kind of like when you take a short cut of something, like cheating on exams for example, means that you're only cheating on yourself because you haven't learned anything about the subject or lesson you're supposed to learn.
@@glendy_bluebird2 not what i thought. I think he meant the more you take the less you will have to take. For example: if you have everything in the world you wont have any more to take. It becomes boring.
@@XaldirGodofGood I think it is because he is heavily regarded as the worst Kung Fu Panda villain. He isn't a bad villain, but people felt he lacked in comparison to Tail Lung and Shen.
@@sghost14 well Kai is the second most evil character in the franchise under lord shen because it’s fucking shen. Tai lung was doing it so he could get out prison but he did care about shifu while Kai just wants fame and power.
What's even worse then videos having comments turned off on regular yt is that yt kids is an unmoderated cesspool Knowing that just makes it more annoying
Yo!! I just realized this but in movie one Oogway says to Shifu “one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.” Now in this movie Oogway jukes Kai by telling him he is destined to be defeated by someone else causing Kai to search for Poe which inevitably caused his downfall.
Im pretty sure Kai was always going to be deafeted by Po no matter what, cuz its his destiny. Same goes for Po who is always destined to be the Dragon warrior. But ur right
In the Chinese modern web culture with these fantasy stories, the whole point is to defy your destiny, which is to be a mortal for example, so maybe in another story Kai is a main character
Oogway didn't "make" a bad guy out of Kai. As well as he didn't make it out of Tai Lung. As simple as that: Kai wanted the chi of all pandas, Tai Lung was evil from the inside. Oogway only released that evil and showed their true colors. Well, actually, with Kai, he didn't even have to do that either: Kai tried to murder everyone himself, after which Oogway banished him to the Spirit Realm. As of Tai Lung, had he not been evil, he would have never gone on a killing spree in the Valley of Peace after being refused the title of the Dragon Warrior. And wouldn't have tried to kill Shifu, his only father figure, just to get the scroll with some power nobody ever actually had and/or witnessed.
@@anton.chigrinetc.96 I wouldn't say Tai Lung is inherently evil. That kinda goes against how KFP villains are written. The way I see it every character has the potential to be evil, but it's the choices they make and the environment around them that makes them who they are. Tai Lung is the result of Shifu's hubris and his own decision to give in to the darkness within him.
And he didn't want to because he loved Kai as a brother and he did not want to hurt his friend. And he was hurt seeing Kai going to far taking every master's chi.
@@zapcrossworld4036 he literally said it wasn’t his destiny in order for the dragon warrior po to be his successor he needed to defeat kai to master chi
Kungfu Panda is definitely one of the best animated film when it comes to character design. The style of each character's martial arts and personality that match what each animal symbolizes, very well thought.
Something i loved about the movie is that even though Kai had stolen oogways chi, he never used him to fight. Like even though he hated oogway, he still couldnt bring himself to control his friend like that
I hope it was like that, cause Tai Lung wasn't a villain, he's just broken, cause he worked his whole live hard to become the dragon warrior and to make his master proud, just for Oogway to say no. Who wouldn't be broken. Since KFP4 is confirmed for 2024 I really wish to see Tai Lung back but as a good guy
this just makes me question why Kai never used Oogway as a jade zombie it would have kicked everyone's butts, but then again that kinda answers my question
I have a few theories: 1. Kai believes that he doesn't need Oogways help, and only keeps Oogway in order to return to the mortal realm. 2. Oogway can't prevent his Chi from being captured/used, but is powerful enough not to be controlled by Kai. Kai knows this, and so he doesn't use Oogway. 3. Kai still secretly loves Oogway like a brother, and can't bear to see him used.
@@treygreen5015 Kai took the Chi of every master in the spirit realm just to defeat Oogway. I think it's fair to say that Oogway is powerful enough that he could only be kept as a battery and couldn't be controlled.
@@treygreen5015honestly that would hold up I think it is a respect thing as well throughout the movie he is seen talking to Oogway and still calling him master so he seems to respect him too much to use him as a mindless puppet
@@treygreen5015 I like your first and third theory because it dives into Kai's character, but I think it is much more explained in the movie actually. If I remember correctly we see scenes where Kai retrives the jade zombies back to him, and it seemed like he got power out of that (and also didn't have shared vision with them anymore), so what I think is, that he gives the chi away (at least partially) to create and control the jade zombies. And since Oogway was necessary for him to go into the mortal realm, he couldn't give his chi away to form a jade Oogway (or else would have been banished to the immortal realm again). Also, maybe getting a jade Oogway wouldn't have been an automatic victory for Kai (even without Po), as we do not know alot about the jade zombies. Are they actually 100% as strong as the og? Do they have all the knowledge and experience of the og or do they just copy their fighting style perfectly? Can they improvice and fight indipendent or is Kai always controlling them (and has too) at least partially for them to function well or at all? So in summary, I think it wouldn't have changed the outcome of the battle, but would have made a cool final fight in the movie and an awesome scene, imagine Shifu wasn't a jade zombie and then Kai uses jade Oogway, the emotional shock and surprise moment and then a battle between Po and Kai and Shifu and Oogway.
@@2muchsparky16 honestly I’m kind of afraid to see what Oogway looks like when he goes all out What adds to his character is that he always holds back to impart a lesson of wisdom or character-building for younger people
Grand Master Oogway was just playing with him. Grand Master Oogway wasn't in full power if he used his his only 20% power of chi he could defeat Kai in only 30 seconds.
I do love that oogway is the only yellow spark of hope (sun) in the spirit realm. As soon as he let himself get captured, that spark turned fully green (as it also slowly did during their confrontation). When Po unlocks the powers of chi, that yellow spark is returned and Kai's green background deminishes.
Yes. Great Master Oogway let Kai beat him so that Po can fulfill his destiny, otherwise Oogway would’ve humiliated him. Kai also needed the power of every master in the spirit realm to finally confront Oogway but even then Oogway wasn’t trying!
Oogway did not used his 100% to defeat Kai cause po can fulfill his destiny and he said "i had to stop him" in his back story. Plus Oogway loved him tbh, he didn't want to fight Kai because he is his brother kinda. But Kai never understood him.
the principle "the more you take the less you have" and also oogway has tons of chi, so basically oogway weakened kai to bits just by willingly being converted
@@ginger88895 Yeah and he couldnt even summon oogway as a jade clone, as if his power was too much to comprehend or channel aside from physically forcing himself out of the spirit realm.
honestly wish the fight was a bit more epic but, that would be out of character for oogway. It would of been cool to see them actually duke it out though
While I do believe the theory that Oogway didn't try his best to fight Kai, I also believe that Kai probably would have won the battle this time anyway. It fits so well into Oogways character and previous actions to guide others on their next step. Like he helped both Shifu and Po in the first movie to grow and develop, by not defeating Tai Lung for them. He also clearly just states the fact here, that it was never his destiny to stop Kai here and that he set another one on this path - so clearly he wasn't even trying seriously. On the other hand, that still doesn't mean that he would have won if he tried. I think the battle would have been a lot more epic and way longer. But ultimately the colours of the spirit realm seem to change according to the strongest spirit around. It was yellow for Oogway, green for Kai and orange/gold for Po. And those colours are a great clue, that Kai might have been more powerfull in this situation.
Kai stole every master’s chi. He was a thief. Kai committed many crimes, including attempted murder, exorcism, and vandalism. He was a criminal. Kai wanted to kill every panda in the village. He was a menace to the entire panda society. Therefore, ironically, Kai was a thief, a criminal, and a menace to the entire society.
@@Buraq786-bm1uh Why didn't Kai use it? We saw that Kai used all the other Kung Fu masters (or most of them) to fight Po and the others, he even used the Furious Four and Shifu, while the only ones he didn't use were Oogway and Tai Lung. , and it is assumed that Kai needed enough Chi to sustain himself long enough in the mortal realm. It is likely that Kai realized the enormous amount of Chi that Tai Lung possessed compared to the others (not counting Oogway) and that is why he preferred to leave him as support next to Oogway. It would be great if it were like this, since it means that Tai Lung is one of the characters with the highest amounts of Chi along with Po and Oogway
Oogway couldve, but I don’t think he would permanently stop him…Kai would keep coming back…Plus oogway wouldn’t be able to bring himself into destroying Kai…So he let Po
@@joel784 prsttt. 1st, they didn't mention Kai turn evil, just "he learn to steal chi". 2nd his nickname: The Jade Slayer, Master of Pain, Beast of Vengeance, & Maker of Widows, are definitely not heroes nicknames.
I agree with this,it makes much more sense for a warrior to become peaceful, then an already good man becoming an evil warrior when kai was already really strong.
@Pluff Man I think it's because Kai wants to be admitted as the strongest master by others so he didn't use Oogway's soul. Imagine if he did use him like that, Oogway will most likely screw his temper and plan up 😂
I honestly just realised that Kai never used the zombiefied form of oogway in any battle throughout the movie (at least I can't recall anything of that sort)... was it out of respect?
@@jj-ce8bb bruh if he could controls oogways chi oogway would destroy in final battle but if like how u said oogway breaking out of kai's control would be super cool tho imagine po and oogway fighting together
@@prolegend10000 after seeing the new puss in boots movie (which is directed by the same person whos gonna direct kfp4), im feeling confident that its gonna be peak
idk, the visuals and action in kfp3 was great but in terms of storyline its the weakest. po reuniting with his dad and going to panda village just made the entire kfp2's storyline pointless. in kfp2, shen massacred all pandas (including po's parents) and burned down the village. i dont hate this films, but the previous 2 films were better.
@Claymation That's true but since we don't know how much time passed since KFP2 to KFP3 and the fact that Kai vs Oogway battle not necessary happened right before Po father arrival it still possible. Why would Oogway send the message before his battle with Kai ?
