Also a level of patience. It takes time to remember fundamentals for each character, including the ones you're fighting against.

I think a lot of it is down to Max being very content with his place as a player. He isn't going pro but he's experienced enough that he can identify what went wrong which reduces frustration a lot.

A lot of it comes down to expectations as well. If you assume you'll struggle and you're there to learn and not to win, you'll be frustrated by losing way less.

The best players never crack.

It's on purpose. They want you to not perfect parry all the time since it gives so much advantage. Kinda like tekkens low parry. It also scales damage a lot.

@@kongchho That makes no sense. It's VERY hard to pull off so it's a risk. Why punish a risk. It gives advantage because you were able to pull it off on the exact frame you got hit.

@@AlgaeEater09 To be fair if you fuck up the parry timing you might just get normal parry instead, it's not like slashback where parrying makes you unable to block for like 8 frames. If you couldn't hold the parry input it'd be a totally different story, but since you can you might not get punished for whiffing it.

@@AlgaeEater09 I mean, it's not *that* big of a risk. Assuming you hold block while you're going for a perfect parry, you block the move if your timing is early, and parry the move if your timing is late. Neither of these things are particularly punishing situations to be in, and though a perfect parry's damage is heavily scaled, it still essentially converts your opponent's pressure into a free knockdown and/or resources for you, sometimes even giving you the corner. The only risk involved with perfect parry is eating a punish counter throw, which isn't even a risk at all if you're trying to perfect parry something actively telegraphed. If perfect parry *didn't* have absurd scaling it would be one of the most offense-invalidating tools in the game.

They'll get there when "it" clicks for them. There's that moment where the game slows down and you start to excel. My PS account I have a Diamond 2 Ryu, and on XBox a Diamond 4 Ryu. I had the most fun in Gold 3 - Platinum 2. It got REAL after that. Then it got SUPER REAL after Diamond 2. 😬

didn't they confirm that they are adding something to that effect? though I wish they make it so that you can derank out of master because rn the match quality is all over the place in master vs diamond.
