Threshold Between Street and Building.
A place for walking, sitting, standing, lying down, sleeping, panhandling, cooking, eating, smoking, washing, and cleaning, grooming, preaching, praying, playing music, playing games and sports and so on.
This thesis is an investigation of ‘ Architecture’ of the Threshold. It explores temporality, behavior, taxonomy and organization of this in-between liminal space.
The design interventions aim to provide incremental strategies to sustain and enhance the efficacy of informal markets as a threshold between public and private realms, in the Mumbai region.
