That’s a relic left over from the Commodore 64 version of the game: upon completion, $5000 would be added to your score, and you’d be given a new “account number” to begin a new game with the money you’d accumulated. Not sure if you can do the same thing in this version.
This was the first Ghostbusters game I played and I agree that the NES game pales in comparison. I did remember seeing someone get to Zuul's place, but not to the top.
@@jfwfreo that's fair, I haven't... so far only ever seen the NES version and the SMS one... I know there's video of the 2600 version and don't think that version was any good so... will have to look up the C64 one then I think.
I haven't played it, but it looks better than the NES version. There's also a Genesis / Mega Drive game, but it's not the same game; it's after the events of the first movie, and maybe after the events of the 2nd movie, but I'd think definitely before the events of the Xbox 360 game (which would have been Movie 3.)
The frustration of when I kept failing to get enough money to get into the 'Zuul' building I keep getting reminded of this: "You could not even set foot inside THE ZUUL because you were unable to earn enough money to gain admittance." Oh, so it's like, a museum or somethin', you just need to pay to get in?" - AVGN.
One of the first Master Systems games I had. This game was so difficult for me to beat as a 10 year old, took me close to a year to figure out the final boss fight.
Avgn said you would only shoot up on the stairs not across at the ghost guess he was wrong.. this us the definitive best version of this Ghostbusters game beats Atari and nes
This is a great video from World of Longplays and Ghostbusters on Sega Master System is a fantastic video game and the movie is awesome thank you for uploading this
I remember playing this over and over as a kid with my brothers. The game only had ONE song which drove my mum crazy having to listen it over and over.
Yeah, that irked the hell out of me! Someone said this game was ported to the SMS by Compile (known for Puyo Puyo, Aleste/MUSHA, etc.), so it was probably a translation error...
I love the little touches. The snarky yellow arm flapping ghosts have so much more "life" then nintendo/ atari variations and the forklift dude is the best
I compile a list of the games that brought me the most joy in childhood. 5. Fantasy Zone II 4. Bomber Raid 3. Space Harrier 2. R-Type 1. Ghostbusters! I loved this game, nothing else like it.
@@HerecomestheCalavera His Wrestling Games review was horrible. He should have done more research and asked other Wrestling fans about any pointers and imagination on them.
Here because of "Ghostbusters: Afterlife". RIP Harold Ramis (Dr. Egon Spengler), David Marguiles (Mayor Lenny), Alice Drummond (Librarian), Tom McDermott (Archbishop), & Paddi Edwards (Voice of Gozer).
Wait a minute, didn't the Nerd say that you can only fire the beams in an upwards direction at the stair scene? So, how can you fire horizontally like that?
By reading the manual and playing the game. The gamepad has 2 buttons, one for diagonal shooting, the other for horizontal. As always: The Nerd is incredibly clueless, untalented, never reads manuals and shits out a dumb video were he fails and thinks it's funny.
I used to love this game as a kid, out of curiosity is there a legal way to get it, if not any emulators/roms I should know for master system, between this, Space Harrier, Black Belt, enduro racer, ice hockey, ghost house, and then one that the name slips me right now, but it was a top down scrolling space shooter/bullet hell game that I wasted many hours on Edit: I forgot about the 3d glasses that were way ahead of their time on the MS
I played the shit out of this as a kid. I never understood why my NES friends hated it so much. Then I played their version and was like... dude... the nes version is trash. Lol
Wow, this game is a nightmarish hodgepodge of so many things. The most intriguing thing to me though is how it starts, with a bank loan and buying equipment. Imagine if there was "Ghostbuster Franchise Simulator" where you built your own Ghostbusting franchise empire. As a nerd that seems interesting to me lol
I like how the game goes through multiple play styles and throws them at you expecting you to know how to play each one 😂 But what a random tough game this is 😂 Nice though!
This would have been an OK game for maybe $20 but imagine paying $50 for this back in the day. What a ripoff. You could have gotten Phantasy Star a game that would provides hours and hours of entertainment for the same price!
Phantasy star actually cost $100 when it was released. I thought my sister was insane when she bought it. You could have bought TWO games instead of that. I was wrong, it was still worth it back then!
@HerecomestheCalavera - I do not agree with you. 34 years ago these games gave us fun for weeks. For you it's worth a shit, because you dont see much in it. Today I can buy GameBoy-games for 4 bucks, but 34 years ago these were our expensive christmas-gifts and we played it so much.
This is still better than the absolute shitastic NES version. And at least in the Zuul stairs level they actually give you the proton pack as a weapon and you don't have to press the A button eighteen million goddamned times just to move the Ghostbusters.
Same here. I played dozens and dozens of games as a kid, and never had a problem. I could not figure this game out. I hated it, mostly because I was such a big fan of the movie and was so excited to play. 🤣🤣
"So it's not the Zuul building anymore its just THE ZUUL and caused Gorza, you mean GOZER? They should actually see the fucking movie before they make the damn game!" - AVGN
Even the idiot made the mistake, while he pretends to be a Ghostbusters fan, incredible. It wasn't the "Zuul building". It's called Spook Central. Zuul was the Demon (Gatekeeper of Gozer) who takes over Dana Barrett
This is such an odd game. You can beat it without catching any ghosts. Just buy the cheapest car and the ghost bait. Then all you have to do is wait. When the city's pk meter gets red the ghosts will form to make the Stuff Puff man. When they do that just use the ghost bait. Do that each time and then when the meter fills up you will be taken to the Zuul building. So you can beat the game without doing any driving or catching any ghosts.
