Pull the heads off...You can get in there and clean up that rusty cylinder and a fresh valve job.

That rusty cylinder probaly has the rings rusted to the cylinder. Get some aerokroil, it works miracles. I bought a seized up reloader that was jacked sprayed it with the kroil and let it sit for a cpl days and it freed up great.

Due to it being a manual transmission, I’m assuming the vehicle was in neutral during the use of wrench. Another way would be to leave the vehicle in gear and gently push the it back and forth…..parking brake disengage of course. Good luck

Put the spark plug back in the bad cylinder and fill it through the intake with atf/ marvel mystery so then it can soak the valve and hopfully make it so it would have a better chance of a evenly seating

You also really don’t want to lubricate the seals on the fuel injectors, they are Teflon and easily swell up and leak. I’m in Canada and my local pricing for a LS3 376/480 (ls3 with hot came rated just under 500hp) is 11k.

Good stuff Mike. Small wins, will lead to victory. I would definitely pull the heads and get them machined. Clean out the top of the cylinder walls by hand. That rust is surface. But if it’s not, you will know for sure when you pull the heads. I would definitely give it a shot before going to a complete rebuild on a 14k mikes motor.

Best way someone explained it to me, its similar to an atv engine except youre building 8 of them at the same time, as many precautions as you take on small engines id say you could build a healthy engine for this vette, the ls thats in there has so much aftermarket for it you can have a big cam choppy monster or a factory sounding engine, id start off factory and work up since this is youre first V8 also glad you got a second opinion from someone you trust, having friends in the automotive field is a like having a cheat sheet and youve gained so many more, im looking forward what you have planned for this vette
@MichaelSabo

I think we both know that just about anything can be fixed. I also think that since we are in the same business, more or less, we both also know in a situation like this, you simply start at the beginning and the small stuff before progressing to major system repair. Whether you continue or trash this project is really about how much time and money you want to put into, NOT whether or mot you CAN fix it. I am sure you can. We would be happy to donate some free labor (turning a wrench) to your effort just for the content.

@lescraig6968
@lescraig6968 Год назад
Those seat motors can be manually moved by the fittings you saw. Use a flex extension with a drill. You had the right idea with breaking it free before your pop hit the power to it. Take all the modules out. Try to open them then hit them with contact cleaner to help with moisture. So that when you power them, there is less chance of a short. Take the project slow: very easy to get over your head and spend unnecessary on future mods when the basics need work, first. Otherwise, great content 👊👊
