Just a heads up all modules on GM are Vin locked so they will all need to be replaced with new ones or refurbished ones with cleared Vin's and flash/reprogrammed via SPS2 using Techline Connect.. I know it really sucks GM does that I guess to stop the sell of used parts smh.. Just did one that was struck by lightning and wasn't cheap buying everything new.. The only used part was the bcm which I bought used pulled it apart and manually flashed the eeprom using a ch341a programmer..

I might be stupid but I think it should be illegal to sell a car, even at auction without listing all missing parts. Absolutely nothing to protect the buyer from getting totally fleeced. Stay strong Micheal. It looks like a lot of work, but it'll worth it when its done! I just love to watch you fix old quads and bring them back to life. Your attention to detail is astounding. Once done this corvette will be car show ready, i have no doubt.

Had a feeling you were going to come across this with all the computer modules either damaged or missing when you first bought this car. My day job is an auto damage appraiser for a large insurance company and a co-worker of mine had made the mistake a few years ago of writing to repair a flooded vehicle instead of just totaling it and it turned into an absolute nightmare. Every single module was needing to be replaced plus be reprogrammed by the dealership , it was a very similar situation to yours. One more thing, I'm sure you figured on doing this already but make sure you flush out the transmission fluid and the rear diff fluid before you drive this thing at some point when you get it all up and running.

FYI: for future purchases, on COPART, IAA you should only buy cars that are being sold from a insurance company. But you probably know that now. I would suggest trying to find a really hammered wreck / Copart / IAA to use as a parts car (from a insurance company). You can use the VIN numbers to confirm the parts will work in your car.
@angelcelis9090
@angelcelis9090 Год назад
Also Google the vin number it'll show you if the car has been sold at auction before cause if a car is being sold again on auction chances are your buying someones mistake.

I got a friend here in BG KY that works at the Corvette assembly plant and he actually assembles the driver's door before it goes on the car he puts the glass window motor and regulator and speakers and all the wiring in the door and door panel and i don't think there's that much mud in the doors he installs lol but I know ull get it all looking brand new just like the ones he assembles every day of the week. Keep up the good work and if it gets too frustrating just walk away from it before you break something in ur frustration and cost urself more money than ur already going to have to spend to get it back on the road and this seems like a project that could take you a year or more to get it back on the road and make it like new or as good as new as possible but just take ur time and do it as good as you do all your other builds cause u do absolutely top notch work on the quads no doubt so keep up the good work and take ur time and do everything to ur quality standards

My last one I did the cold air intake, ported throttle body, Kooks headers with Xpipe, Corsa sport exhaust and a really good dyno tune. That setup sounded so good. Perfect for just casual driving and bothering anyone to just a full out screaming beast at full throttle. Strongly suggest doing it I promise you will not regret it and not terribly expensive especially since you could do most work. Hi Mike, Those rusty metal pieces behind the door card and under the console etc, just give them a sandblast (or rust converter treatment) and paint, no need for zinc or powder coat, they’re rusty because they were just bare raw steel from the factory. Straight up I googled rear electrical compartment when you showed the missing modules and I thought “Bose amp 🤔” which looks like an option as some pics I found didn’t have the sub. You’ll get there 👍🏻👍🏻 I’m very jealous of this car. The C8 is the first Corvette available in Australia with a two year wait and over 200k price. I have a 1979 C3 down here

@MichaelSabo with the condition of all the electrical stuff I think the best bet would be to just send it and make it a race car roll cage minimal electrical and big power

Yes some disappointing surprises. But honestly you been here before. Most part body and dash etc is sweet. As a fan I really hope u go all out on this. Know ur gonna do it right. Love seeing ur Dad's enthusiasm for the car. Great content. Get in shop/garage. 650ish hp. Go thru and treat just like all your other projects. Upgrades? Hell yes! Great vid as usual. 👍

Hey Michael. When the car is dissasembled like this , hire a dry ice blaster. Then you can blast the interior and engine without ruining any electrical components. It will remove the rust on the inside and all that dirt and debris. It will save you loads of time and it will be spotless, just like your rebuilds.

Gday Mike, I wondered about the ECU when seeing that the right front fender was loose in the earlier vid. I look at it positively this way. They have done you a favour as you now have to replace all those modules which were seriously either stuffed anyway or would have wasted so much of your time in the future with problematic intermittent issues. I’d also really consider buying an entire loom which shouldn’t be too expensive. You will have corrosion and shorts in some of the plugs. Again that will waste a lot of future time. Another thing to consider is a flood car holds moisture (if not cleaned/dried immediately) for a long time. The car heats and cools and the moisture evaporates, rises and then condenses on things like the circuit boards behind the gauges etc. If you get that it’s usually easy enough to clean up with contact cleaner and a small soft brass board brush. I mention about the moisture travelling over time as it can cause issues with the connections in areas well above the flood line, so don’t just expect them to be good if fault finding. That’s an awesome deal on the modules. I was going to suggest buying a frame/roof damaged same model car for all the modules, loom etc, but you are killing it on great part deals! I’d say that’s what the previous company were waiting on, a good deal on a parts car. Then thought better to make it look clean and move it on. I wouldn’t suggest to someone to do this to end up with a cheap car. But definitely an excellent content creator. Best of all other people learn so much from this kind of stuff. As I always say “If it was easy, everyone would be doing it”. Totally unrelated, just picked up my brand new WR250F a couple of days ago. (You can road licence them here) A ride in the country here is way better than any gym work out. Man, I’ve been smiling for days now! 😁 I bought it with profits from flipping earth moving equipement by buying/repairing/selling. All the very best with the build. Cheers, Nigel 👍👍🍻

Great CONTENT in how to Not buy a corvette from auction. Literally. Plenty of watch time coming in from this series of videos. Great lessons to teach people that for most this is not something they want any part of.
