We know that using a marker accelerates learning. But we must first create something worthy of marking! Let’s master the basics of movement with our puppies and dogs before over complicating things for ourselves as new trainers/handlers. Here is is simple tutorial and intro to movement with your dogs so you can get started training at home! #malinois #puppy #belgianmalinois #dogtraining #dog #puppytraining #puppymalinois

I am that fool the one with all the gadgets and tools that doesn’t know what the hell she’s doing. I’m ashamed I think I have confused my poor dog. All I can say is THANK YOU for this! This is exactly what is needed and needs to be told exactly how you told it! So grateful. You’re gracefully amazing with your what you do. Back to the drawing board I go…

A very nice & simple way of explaining. 👍🏻 There is so much FluffStuff out there . But this clearly makes sense , begin at the beginning.

this really helped me i’m 16 and i’ve been training for over 3 years now i’ve gone to many many many classes and actually helped teach some i have 5 trainers who i talk with weekly i trick train, show, and do basic obedience hoping to get into some more sports this summer. this helped me remeber to lay that foundation, it’s ok to reset dogs aren’t robots, and reminder on marking thank you

I was teaching my dog to spin backward out of heel and she kept barking like crazy and not spinning , so I thought she didn't understand the command until I watched myself on video and realized I was moving my hand the same way as my barking command lol I had to rebuild a bunch of my commands.

I try not to get wrapped around the axle when it comes to basic training. Too many experts out there making things complicated. Training is like fine wine, it takes time and patience, but patience doing the wrong thing expecting new results is where many start circling the drain. Not a fan of using a leash for training once a recall and drive is established but I also don’t compete. I just demand obedient dogs. You can have the best instruction from the best in the world, but it will mean nothing if you can’t get the engagement from the dog. Big part of the equation that is often overlooked but so simple to do. Good video 🎉

At the 15 minute mark is the best advice. Before our k9 handlers get a dog they must master an ammo can! Great advice and video!

GREAT TO SEE YOU BACK ON YOU TUBE ❤ I purchased his package about building drive - but really struggling with getting my dog to bite the ball and not the string - short of having my hands amputated in under 2seconds - I’ve reverted back to the tug :( My dogs love the clicker - if I’m struggling with teaching a new behaviour I’ve found the clicker is magic ♥️ PS are you running your virtual program in May?

I have watched videos till I’m sick at videos they use dogs to get you to buy tools and every one wants to get there dog to listen and working with you and my girl is lost she knows the basics don’t get me wrong but you have made this so simple ! Ty from the bottom of my heart ! Now I have a black solid back Czech gsp not yet a year but we need so much work this winter I’ve lost her but I swear i know i may have to skip her meal in the bowl and feed her this way ! She is starving for mental stimulation! Anyways ty

Excellent video Kay. Thanks for sharing. I actually spent the first 6 months training Hank my ring dog working on boxes and teaching him luring and next word association. The guy who is teaching me to be a trainer gave me some great references to help understand classical conditioning and Operant conditioning. Thanks again. Let me keep watching.

Hi Kay! Thanks a lot for this video and all your efforts on dog training world! Amazing job! My question (as beginner training my 18m GSD) is : once I’ve been feeding her with barf since the beginning, on a schedule basis (of course, in the bowl) I’m struggling with food drive/motivation during the training sessions… I totally understand the concept of feeding by hands but using this king of food (I mean barf) it’s too difficult to “put apart” some food for the training sessions, isn’t it? And the dog is deeply used to wait for the food twice a day… now I’m training her with some dried food but feeling that the results as not as I was expecting! Any suggestions to increase drive food in this case?

I just got a 9 week old Malinos puppy 5 days ago and you saved my life! Crate training is amazing!! Thank you for what you do! Can anyone guide me to the right video where I can tell my puppy not to grab everything on the floor and to bite on my heels. I have a rope where he grabs its and it’s working but more information would be nice. Thank you

I have a very limited body movement as I use a power wheelchair. So I use my foot that sticks out as a demarcation point. What else can I do to teach movement without the leash? I have another dog that I trained for service work, but my 8 week old Malinois mix and she is much more energetic.

Im practicing this with my 9 year old athletic whippet mix. He's extremly fast but will not turn his rear end.. can i use a wall to assist getting him the right position? Or do i need to give him more time to figure it out? My mechanics look and feel right but I'm not an expert

why do I want Belgian Malinois And why I think it's meant to be for my future dog 1 keep on going back to look at videos of them 2 I get sad every time I don't pick the name in my dog game 3 brings me Joy to look at 4 I love how much Drive they have to follow treats balls Etc 5 they are so smart 6 I need someone like that dog too be my cheerleader sometimes it's hard for me to cheer on myself 7 they are so stinking adorable 8 there's so many trainers and people and on the internet that help each other 9 they actually only need 2 hours they could do more but 2 hours are plenty so I heard from a lady that has three of them so I trust her judgment 10 And they like the water just like me. Am I right? Now I already have a dog at this point so for right now I'm not going to get one and I'm actually trying to get as much information about these dogs as I can so if you have any things about them let me know.

You have to find what makes them tick. Toys are good if they have the drive. But I will say it’s far more likely that they will be food driven. Try finding the food they do like and incorporating that (high reward food).

Is it completely necessary to have them heel at your left side? I do better and our 6 month old puppy Miss Willa does better at my right side. It is probably because and I am right handed and the fluid movement is easier for me on the right.

Formal heel is on the left but it’s up to you 👍🏼 if you prefer the right, go “right” ahead 😉
