His book Mastery was the first book that changed my life completely. I have become a completely different person after reading that book and it serves and influence me to this day. I consider him my mentor and I want to thank him with all my heart. I hope you recover completely from your stroke. Peace.
@Stinkin Joe I treated it like my life's handbook. I wrote a summary of each chapter and kept reading those repeatedly, I would look for situations where I could apply these principles in real life. This book made me rethink my entire life, I changed all my habits, it was my REBIRTH.
I am a bit late to see this but I am literally listening to every Robert Greene interview I can find online since I have discovered him! He is such en eloquent, wise & humble person. Thank you Tom for another great interview.
I had a bad, bad period where everything overwhelmed me and emotionally I handled it badly. Resentment and vengeance characterized my attituded best. When I finally stopped the dangerous, worthless thinking, I also let go of the hatred and desire for destruction of my perceived enemies. I prayed for their wellbeing instead, and I can't stop smiling and reveling over the sense of spiritual alleviation 💗
My favorite of Tom's interviews. I can't believe it's taken me 35 years to discover Robert Greene's work. This is exactly the teachings I've been looking for on my journey in shadow work.
I am watching this again just at the right time. Like Robert, I have had illness suddenly and drastically change my physical ability. I spend much of my time at home/in bed and have needed the care of other people at times. He is right about your attitude and mindset. You really have to shift your mindset to acceptance in order to make the best of your situation and transpire; regardless of current limitations.
we are just hairless apes . . Humans are primates, but the primates that we most closely resemble are the apes. We are therefore classified along with all other apes in a primate sub-group known as the hominoids (Superfamily Hominoidea).
🇪🇬 This man is a legend.. I intended to put my country's flag to show how his knowledge and words are repected by people all over the world.. Thank alot for this episode i loved your intro Tom
I had a deep insight after a long intense period of zen meditation many years ago that impressed itself into the rest of my life, and that seems so close to what Greene is talking about here. I saw in an instant that all our lives are an endless circular smokescreen of mental habit. But it's just that! A smokescreen. It's the wisp of a shadow within the totality of All, of Eternity, of incredible Love and Intelligence. I was just blown away. I have been constantly asking myself since then "Who am I?".
“Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is. At all counts, it forms an unconscious snag, thwarting our most well-meant intentions.” (Carl Jung)
3 months before my dad passed away, I read Roberr Greene's book The 50th Laws. It helped me a lot. It saved me frm all negative emotions and helped me to face the truth that my dad is gone forever. But I have faith that one day I will be able to meet him again ❤
Great interview Tom. Your style of well prepared questions and real listening sets you apart from others playing in the same space. You judge very well the time to and space you give to guests to respond before stepping in. I love how it gives guests an extra few % that most interviewers don't manage to elicit. Great work.
Is it just me or does this man carry so much energy you can literally see his bright yellow aura when they zoom out? Such an intelligent and inspirational person.
Black Tortoise really? How do you think? I have repeatedly encountered that card lately or even depictions of that card so I’d love to know your opinion.
I loved this interview. I had to pause several times to keep up with the notes. Very eye-opening and filled with precise information that got me a lot of value. Thank you for doing this interview with Robert, Tom.
Robert Greene is my favorite uncle and Jordan Peterson is the father I never had, I only got 12 rules for my life and 48 laws for power, come at me bro
I love how he calls me out through his books (and interviews) that I don’t know about myself at all. I just found him during this pandemic, and it’s already changing how I approach to things and people. Perspectives are changing.
I love how absolutely honest he is even with himself first it’s really refreshing and inspiring. I too am going to start challenging myself daily and being honest
One of my favorite things to do is observe people, and so, with some many years doing that, I can read their non verbal language easily. Few years ago, when I was married to a person that speak another language, we went to visit his family, and after a month of being there non understanding their language but observing people's non verbal language, I knew all the relationships and all the secrets between each other. It was fascinating. I think visiting another country where you can not use your language all the time is a very humbling and good practice for your mind.
The Delta Yes, I was. My husband was from Iran. We spent a month there every two years. Well, in big gatherings everybody will speak in Farsi and I will observe. And because the language was not there, I could see the non verbal communication, that is as powerful as language. You could do that with family pictures and see which children are close to which parent. As humans, we are always sending messages. Also, when I was working as an architect, we had to do a analysis if public housing in Florida. It was really impressive that after entering in a house, for the few details in the rooms you could tell so much. Who was religious, responsible, organized, good parent, etc. Which were their priorities, etc. What you need to do, is quiet the noise around you and observe. We are always leaving things in our path of who we are, and how we see the world. I think that the best advice to a new parent is not to buy all the gadgets and read all the blogs, but observe the baby and learn what that little being is.
Thank you so much for having Robert on this show. I've been an avid reader of his books for YEARS and was thrilled when The Laws of Human Nature was published -- purchased it as an ebook, paperback, and audiobook. Ha! This is just so enlightening... and it's so incredible to listen to him explain his worldview and view on mankind. He's often called a modern Machiavelli (which they don't tend to mean as a compliment), but he isn't -- although he's certainly as sharp as old Niccolo. Sad to see that he's clearly still struggling after suffering a stroke. I was wondering what was going on, but that explained it. I wish him well -- and if he reads this, I'd tell him to take pride in how he can now also teach others (i.e.: readers/viewers) how to come back after such a horrendous experience.
Fantastic interview. Such immense wisdom about the human animal and its true nature contained within this discussion. I'm nearly halfway through this newest book by Robert and while the format is somewhat different from some of his earlier books (they're all amazing!) I believe that this one is his most important book yet in terms of the value he has given to humanity. On another note, Tom is truly an outstanding interviewer; knowledgable, prepared, and his interview style and questions created the environment for his guest to shine. Well-done, gentleman. Thank you for sharing with us!
@pink Cat very good point. I have no idea why someone would comment such a thing. How could they possibly think that Tom was doing anything but patiently listening???? What an odd and absurd thing to say. Couldn't agree more.
I’m 58 and have just discovered Robert Greene and read his first book in a day. I absolutely love this man he is a Genius. I’ve stated reading the Art of Seduction. Omg I cannot put this book down it’s sooo good. Cannot wait to read all his books. ❤️❤️❤️
This episode definitely needs a part two! I have watched most of Robert Greene's interviews and this is by far my favorite! It felt like it was only 20mins long! Thank you, great interview! Couldn't get enough! I was so thrilled when I saw this, two of my favorites!
Tom, besides the amazing content IT offers, I want to say something that really hits me every time and i just love it. Obviously you have done a lot of homework prior to interviewing people, but then your questions are super rich and interesting which enables speakers to also answer in a super informative way. I have watched other podcasts of entrepreneurs who rely on their guest too much! The speaker ends up having a monologue and the "conversation" goes in all directions, instead of following a certain narrative. I also love how sincerely and openly you approach speakers who have gone / are going through difficult moments, like Greene. I particularly liked that you noted his alignment with Erickson and tied it to his (Greene's) current work. Another thing that must be appreciated is how your questions carefully drive the narrative of each IT episode! I love it and Thank you!
I can't wait watching this. I started an animated series about the Rules from Robert's book so any interview will help me moving forward with the episodes. This is the Alpha Book. Robert Greene is truly one of the most influential writers of the modern era. A legacy is huge in his case because Ryan Holiday follows his steps.
I love him, and I wish him a very long healthy life and wish for a lot of other great books he will write. He is definitely so influential. Thank you for this interview and thank you for this extraordinary channel.
I watched this and then I read Mastery. Mr. Greene became one of my favorite writers! Much love for this show, this is definitely one of the best episodes
this is a very important thing to ever find in my own quick peek before bed and I have a few good time to get a little bit of time to get a information brain nutrient from a quality and the most helpful tips for human interaction and the most greatest gemstone of priceless world of all time insite in the world of the world that we are in now and we have a great opportunity for the quantum leap of a kind of epic universe for the next truth train stopping so if you are a bit awake you better jump on board the rocket you and your enlightment will have a meeting in sky of a uncomfortable moment when you see the unseen .then the first realization is that once you have a experience with the whole universe of people ,things you think you are be able to get along with the whole group now you are a ostracized person and the most common type of gypsy in the place you now have to be in since you are not ever going to be able to go back to. now you are a circumference observer of a even more restrictive and more like the one who is at the margin of the margin . from the few good days you have to be the one who is the witness from a narrrow elevated perch of the same as eagle eyes completely in the simplest way of the world and the more people who are in the world have to be in the place of the unseen order is not a problem for the wholeness is to be realized and the same world is the one that is not perceived by the person who has a lot of our view but not the real uni-verse UNI ~ONE~ VERSE ~ SONG.. Now. the same metaphysical world that is the only one that you have known now becomes your own existential experience.
I love that Part from Mastery : “In dealing with fools you must adopt the following philosophy: they are simply a part of life, like rocks or furniture. All of us have foolish sides, moments in which we lose our heads and think more of our ego or short-term goals. It is human nature. Seeing this foolishness within you, you can then accept it in others. This will allow you to smile at their antics, to tolerate their presence as you would a silly child, and to avoid the madness of trying to change them. It is all part of the human comedy, and it is nothing to get upset about or lose sleep over”
This guy is breaking down life like no other. Fear of death makes us avoid the subject. I haven’t been to a funeral that I can remember, and no one close to my family has Transitioned while I was near. My aunt, and my godmother both transitioned while I was living already out of the country, so I never really had to process It. Now, my father has a health condition, and it’s making me reconsider my relationship with death. I’m growing up fast in that sense.
Rudolph Steiner takes an interesting stance in that he talks about luciferic and armonic forces of darkness built into the fabric of consiousness in this life that are to be bent to our will. Almost in that as we do that we help overcome darkness in all levels of reality. Kind of a trip to think about when you consider the implications
@@elijahstiner3152 I agree, I made a video about that on my channel using star wars to illustrate it... I also explained how to manage it... The problem is that video is too long, so I gotta redo it, shorter and more entertaining... But check it out if you have time... I definitely bring a unique perspective, would love to ear your feedback
@@WealthEngineering the content is good though some serious time could be cut out by just concentrating on the meat of the issue. Re edit or re record with some more efficiency and it will be easier to follow 👍
what a refreshingly sincere genuine human being this man is. Totally agree with the meditation thing. I think it is key to unlocking so much and re-setting the mind.
Tom please dont ever stop doing what you do ; Your impact on the world is priceless , Your impact on me is constantly pushing me to grow .. Thankyou 💞🙏
Robert Green is the source by reading his books my transformed from a naive meek sheep into the observing creatures. Thank You Robert you are prophet of our time. Love you and may lie thounds years and keep us escorting to the horizon of reality. Lovv you
The job you are doing tom it is incredible to bring the great mind to this show and they share their philosophies with us the whole young generation is thankful to you.Tom I am doing a humble request to you to invite some spiritual teachers also such as Don Miguel Ruiz, Echort TOlly ,oprah and many other.thanks and best regards in advance.
Totally am in awwwww of this Man.. Im finally realizing that i came up with conclusion.many years ago.. . From my insecurities, it made me understand myself.. solidifies my conclusion
I'm glad I listen to this conversation. I like hearing this perspective that we're essentially animals trying to become humans. How important it is to question the emotions we feel and observe other people through their non-verbals. I haven't read any of Robert's books yet, but I will put them all on my reading list. Thanks to Tom for being such an amazing interviewer as well.
Great guy with so much to say and give the world.. To motor accidents. Travel by train. You are more at risk walking to the train station than you are on the train. Best, Peter.
In my humble opinion, Mr. Robert Greene's philosophy should be a subject of study in the educational systems all over the World, specifically the one related to dealing with the Laws of human nature, power, strategy and mastery.
Dude, i study philosophy and things what he is talking about is in Socrates Philosophy (I know that I dont know nothing), he even told delphic maxim *know yourself*. He is just talking about basic psychology (with was born from phlisosophy somewhere like 200 years ago). As he said you need only take some books and read...and think about what you read. That is all. I dont know what I target with my comment, just wanna say that if you wanna more try to Plato Dialogues, or Wittgenstein - Tractatus logico-philosophicus. I also suggest Freud - Vorlesungen zur Einführung in die Psychoanalyse (Dont know how to translate this but for sure it is easy to find). That are some laws that we are living with so you dont need to read any books, but you should to know what focus on. :)
Was extremely busy, seen the title and that you got Robert Greene on, told myself I'll watch a quick 5 minutes...... 49 minutes, 24 seconds later.. Time well invested
My favourite author without a doubt. "Razer sharp and dripping with powerful insights" Agreed 100 %. BILYEU & GREENE thank you for this candid and powerful conversation. Continue producing legendary content BILYEU.
I always read the unspoken maneurisms and often feel that I know people more than they know themselves. This is a hyperactive ability that freaked me out for a long time. So much so that I would tune out their words and only see the body language, tone of voice, and facial expression. I've gotten alot more comfortable with this and learned to trust it. I believe this ability is a form of hypervigilance due to severe PTSD.
ive been saying this for a long time.. sometimes i have to work on this myself and watch everything i say to my kids.. my son just turned 4 and every since he has been going to daycare his behavior has gotten not soo good sometimes and i realized that the so called teacher in his daycare were consistently calling him bad or out of control or what is wrong with him or he wont listen etc... him as a child hearing that over and over again has made him start to feel like he is bad or like he wont listen so in turn that makes him do it more. when raising children , when they are doing something wrong please just sit them down and tell them that they are good kids and you are proud of them but acting like that will make people think they are bad when you know they are not. a good person can have bad behavior but by telling someone what they are over and over again they will start to internalize it and be that way. I tell my kids that everything you say can come true so be very careful with what you say. !!
WOW! I just bought this book and i was reading this when i woke up this morning. then now I'm watching this video. I actually watch your videos everyday to inspire myself and to motivate myself and to remind me that every time I feel like giving up with my dreams, there are people who made it because they never give up and one more thing is that i want to know what they have in mind and how they think that they become so successful so thank you for your videos Tom!
I agree with Robert that we need to develop our ability to communicate on a spiritual level. We are the culmination of patterns from past generations and the present. Notice what you notice...very simple. The other part is to put a stop to these patterns so they do not keep repeating in our life. I also love Milton Erickson. He could change a person's life by speaking one sentence. I am going to get Robert's book. Thank you Tom for having Robert on your show.
Removing emotional response from a memory is done by removing the emotion from that memory so you can later review it as a fact, not as a feeling (pain). Therein lies the work, and that work is done in whatever way works best for you. Keep digging, you'll find your answers, your methods :-)
Thank you. Robert greene is my hands down favorite author. I am re reading 48 laws of power for, like the 10th time, I have just finished 3c3 strategies of war. I have started self mastery this week. Robert greene if this even reaches you. I have when to literally being homeless to my journey of owning my own business. Thank you sincerely thank you.
I recognize my problems and I do understand I have issues relating to people. But I do observe in ways alot of people don't. But I believe I have so much to learn about who I am and understanding my partner or our children.
Robert Greene is the father I never had. I learned so much from this wonderful man. I agree and knew what he was saying is true but I need to be reminded every now and then. I have to buy his books.
I learned over a decade ago that the most valuable thing you can give someone is your COMPLETE Undivided attention. (LISTENING WITH BOTH EARS AND COMPREHENDING WHAT THEY ARE SAYING).
also your time is and attention is valuable. "avoid those in life who don't care, deal with those who make an effort" . forgot were i heard that but it's true. if someone is indifferent to you, treats you a certain way, send them love and send them on their way.
Thank you very much for your work Mr. Greene. I learnd so much. I am just triing to understand how not to observe people too much. My attitude is very negativ because i've observed so much negativ. But now is time to change, otherwise i will sabotage myself. So again thank you for the message, also thank you Mr. Bilieu. I wish i could express how much you have helped me becoming a better person to myself, to my husband,to my daughter and as a worker. Much blessings.
I've had this book ( The 48 laws of Power) sitting in my bookcase and never read it. I'm glad I came across this video because it brought my attention to the book and I have just started reading it.
J N it’s a great read and will have you questioning certain situations in your life and wanting to practice some . Some Laws are manipulative but overall it’s such an awesome read !
Pulling me gently back to myself… I hope to get there eventually… Thank you for this interview that looked quite genuine, no matter how deeply pre-arranged it might have been ❤
I’ve ordered about 10 of the guests that Tom has interviewed books. That’s pretty powerful. I’m about to read digital minimalism by Cal Newport again. I’m tired of social media I’m in a terrible loop of deleting and re installing them from my phone. Same with the dating apps I’ll Download tinder and bumble not get any matches and by the end of the day I delete and 3/4 days later I go back. I’ve recently quit this year... caffeine, cigarettes, marijuana, and 2 weeks ago alcohol. Social media is the last one to go but I know will probably make a wonderful difference for the next 4-6 months. Know thyself.
Tom - could Robert Greene literally be the smartest human being on the planet right now (don’t get jealous ok ;-)). A life-changing 50 mins for many I’m sure!
