Great question, due to the limits with motion based technology you can't walk as long as you want in between points. To ensure you get the +/-0.5% accuracy tolerance, the device must be placed stationary on the ground every 6-8 seconds. To ensure the user stops within this time is one of the reasons why there are no buttons on the device.
