Maximizing Efficiency with Arc Filtering in Mastercam's Tricordial Toolpaths
Have you ever wondered exactly what is going on with arc filtering, and what the optimal settings are? big question i have is, why are you not change the overall tollerance slicer to 0.1. Right on top of it, it reduces the Code output alot! Important to say is, when you reduce all this values, you should let some material on the walls otherwise you are out of the tollerances.

Two reasons, the first being that this is instructional so we wanted to step into it slowly to explore the benefits. The other reason is that the most common use case for a tool path like this is to finish around walls, so loosening that tolerance must be done carefully. Keep the tolerance under half the stock to leave on walls for best results.

Thank you for this! I've been using the arc filter but didnt know the function of the slider. Also, since I have mostly low memory machines, I always check the "minimize points' box, thinking i was accomplishing what the slider does. Since i was clearly wrong about that, what DOES the "minimize points" box actually do?

Great question! On that dialog (and nearly every other one in Mastercam) there is a Help button that actually takes you directly to documentation about each of those settings, it is a great habit to get into for learning more about these options. In this case, Minimize number of points applies mostly to smoothing and only when points are very close together. From the help article "Minimize number of points: Choose this option to minimize the number of node points in the toolpath by excluding the points that are very close to each other."
