I usually do 30degrees in x and 30 degrees in y. This allows the new layers to build without sagging. I auto support with about 10mm distances and then add extras at the start point and the 2 main build edges.

That's so interesting that the TOP of the model was affected, usually warping and bowing happens on the supported side in my experience, due to undersupperted edges and support density not being high enough. The top edge has never warped in these cases, I assumed due to the bottom layers providing a firm enough base after 10-15 layers after the support transtition. Thanks for amother great video, Dennys!
@wangdennys
@wangdennys 7 месяцев назад
Actually more like the middle, not just the top. The middle sunk in because the shrinkage from the support under the middle area.

I recommend adding a few center supports at least, otherwise you CAN get sag as the resin cures depending on how fast youve got your printer going. I run mine right up against the edge of how fast it hardens, and mostly print abslike unless theres nothing structural about the print. (Art for example). This has the layer drying just as it is pulled off the plate, but makes for very low cycle time and fast as hell prints.
@wangdennys
@wangdennys 7 месяцев назад
It doesnt happen to the base i print in the video. Because all of my printer run on moderate speed using tsmc. But yes on larger object i suggest to put some support on the center to prevent it sunking from shrinkage

Hi, thx for your suggesion. I have a similar problem about my prints edges and corners. I cant get straith edges and corners. My prints edges and corners are curved, so the parts of the prints which have multiple pieces and sould be assembled, wouldnt fit each other. I will try your this suggession but do you have any other direct one about my issue?

I'm new to printing, but after watching this video, it seems to me that if this is the known and correct way to arrange the supports, then why isn't the auto-support function automatically programmed to default to this?
@wangdennys

No idea why
@Gromic2k

I don´t understand why people dont directly print on the buildplate. I usually add a 0.1mm beveled base for easier removal, and then go for it. Yes it can have a slight elephants foot, but it´s not visible because its under the beveled part.
@wangdennys
@wangdennys 7 месяцев назад
Not all base or flat object can be print directly on plate. Because there are infinite shape and sizes. So no harm with having more knowledge right?
@retromodernart4426
@retromodernart4426 7 месяцев назад
There are many cases in functional prints, printed flat on the build plate, where some higher layers of the print need to be supported, the principles Dennys Wang showed here work great for that, too. Here's an example, consider a 200mm tall part, starting with a circle with a center hole in it, flat on the build plate, then 4 shafts concentric to (attached to the edges of) that circle rise 50mm with another circle with a center hole in it, and so on until the top. This method Mr. Wang showed is essential and works great for things like that. Note: The reason one would do a part like this in this way optimally (flat on the build plate) is so that all of the circles and the holes in the center will be perfectly round and of the correct dimensions - when circles or holes are printed at an angle, they can become distorted due to cure-through and/or blooming, and is more complex to correct for.

New to resin printing. Why do we angle and support the flat surface, instead of printing flat on the build plate?

To reduce cross section area and reduce peeling force.

This feels like a trivial problem to solve, yes this will take more resin to create, but I'd much rather have a 99% chance of getting a correctly perfect printed object than printing many suboptimal prints that will end up in the trash anyways. Technically reducing waste by making sure the final product is as requested.
