What a pretty voice - could listen to that sound all day. And really smooth coloratura without losing accuracy... Wonder what this young singer is doing now! Would love to hear him now.

The fact of the matter is that this singer is not singing in full voice, in the bel canto or verismo sense. He basically never sings in a full voice other than the two notes "che sol" at 1:55. There is a huge difference in the clarity and depth of the sound after that. IMO This is a 'specialized' technique, influenced by an aesthetic that is more part of early music than the aforementioned traditions. I don't hear this singer in anything else than early music and Mozart, which for some reason is regarded as 'light', and suited to this aesthetic. He weighs noticeably toward a falsetto sound (and nasality) on anything above C4, which is more or less the only route one can go to avoid when turning/covering is not part of the plan. I do understand that some find this to be an effortless, beautiful sound, but I have a bias against it because I think the aesthetic is influencing the voice too much. Aesthetic is always an influence, but there's a difference between an aesthetic that is subordinate to a functional voice and the reverse, which I hear in this clip.

Funny that Berganza, who knows singing more than you do, didn't seem to have issues with his voice.

@TheMiserableRanter The voice is definitely really lyric and I believe he is not using his entire instrument. When he figures how to use his entire instrument and finds the right resonance you can use that bright resonance to carry it over an orchestra.

I've been waiting for you to upload this one again! This is sch a great video. And the tenor who is singing Il mio tesoro intanto is really good.. I wonder if he made it to the stage.. I hope so. Thanks for uploading it again.

He's a lyric tenor so he doesn't need a huge voice especially for many of the european stages. Not to mention that he's a man, so his voice peaks later. He'll probably grow even more in the next few years.

@TheMiserableRanter His voice is definitely lyric... WITHOUT a Doubt. I'm not sure if you have background in Vocal Music. It definitely doesn't sound like it based on your comments.

It's a pity that I cannot understand the language that she speaks. If the translation is provided will be great. Anyway, it is wonderful to hear the tenor's singing.

He's very resonant, actually. You can hear in his tone that he uses his nasal palate as a sounding board. I think he needs to sing more. Fortes and pianos are not just a matter of resonance. Singers have different volumes as well. Volume has to do with air, resonance has to do with placement. He needs more air.

hi laryngal singing will never cut through an orchestra. Beautiful voice but he needs to add bottom and the only way to do that is to keep the larynx down.

TB is teaching breath control confidence.This young tenor manages those long coloratura lines very well.Mozart was a complete bastard for tenors-ask any Mozart tenor LOL...He wasn't much easier on any other voice type either.Very good voice and technique.

Teresa e formidabile...
@bodiloto
@bodiloto 6 лет назад

he has a nice lyric color and great coloraturas. But he is not even close to being as loud as a mozart tenor should be.

Because you need to know the rule before you can brake it !! if the organs needed for breath are not in line early on the other muscles start to overcompensate Im a lyric myself no breath no Mozart !

He has a wonderful voice, but he almost sounds like he's singing half voice. If he really wants to do opera, he'll never be heard. His next step is volume.
