Quality content for any young new generation looking to get in to brick laying, well done you for sharing your skill set and teaching others how to learn the trade to a high standard and be inspired to earn a good honest living 💪🏼💰💚
Wish your vids had been around when I was a young apprentice back in the day. Passing on tips and experience was not something the older blokes were much good at, so you learned very slowly and sometimes never got to know some of the more efficient ways of doing stuff. You’re a top lad and a very good teacher
Well Mr Collison take a bow!! English bricklayer here living in Australia. I have watched you for a good few years now and that has to be my favourite video yet. Keep it going Charlie 💪💪💪
There’s a lot of bricklaying videos out there but this was really useful. Some excellent tips and lovely to watch such slick technique. True craftsmanship
Seems like a simple task, but as a stone lad, that corner in brick would take me an hour. Loving these schooldays thanks Charlie, the fluency game is what I lack, I can see your vids speeding me up quite a bit in the future when I have to lay brick.
im a chippy my bro is a bricklayer but i do love doing a bit of bricklaying myself, when you sat your level to line the bricks trough and its perfect man that must feel good lol... perfectly square. fair play man. 👍
Phenomenal video for young lads. You won't build a bang on corner free hand any quicker whilst being as neat as you have just shown in 20 minutes. Great point about chucking the 20+ high courses in the bin too. I can see you have your mind on chucking a few videos out for the apprentices/improvers to just condition their thought process when starting a bit of work. Well done on the tip to show em about the snots coming back through on to the next course. The Nhbc seem to car more about cavity cleanliness than whether a house was built plumb lol. 👍
All young architects should do this, simply to understand what is achievable throughout their career. This applies to all types of buildings. Trades people are more than happy to help.
😂 behave, depends wat stage of your career your at, ya wouldn’t show a Green trowel Charlie, ya would show him Deano the traditional bricklayer, he’s a old school Bricky where Charlie is the modern Bricky, but thts not saying Charlie doesn’t or wasn’t taught the old ways, but they don’t show or tell u anything about a profile, clamps or pick and dip in college when doing your city and guilds 👍
@@davidwilkinson8958 Nah, everything about Charlie far exceeds Traditional Bricklayer. Charlie's mentality and attitude is far better. Open to learning new methods and techniques, how he sets up, just his all round game is miles a head. Plus Charlie's quality is far better, quicker and more efficient.
@davidwilkinson8958 the traditional bricklayer is shite! Right down in my estimation. Start with Charlie from start to end. Once youve watced them all, your half way a bricklayer (providing you already know the basics, level 1) Cant go wrong mate!
There's plenty of room for other brickies on RU-vid. Rob Singer is class, Dean the TBL, Izzy the Brickie, all different ways and methods/styles to watch and learn from. Something for everyone.
Nice work esp how u picked up the last brick with the trowel 😊 one tip i learnt the hard way might be worth a mention if you are using the level a lot is, as you get higher up i.e brick work higher than the length of yr level, dont lean it on the wall as it can wedge in a bed joint and the flex in the scaffold boards can lift the bricks above, not a massive deal usually just a pain in the ass getting them looking tidy again. Keep up the good work found it therapeutic watching and listening to u do that 🥴
brilliant re writing collage , lol it works break every rule , dont hit the level lol, start at the corner lol, and furrow the muck, what you do is amazing, its not rocket science but it works. ive been in the building game all my life and laid many bricks wish id seen you earlier lol i am nearly retiring now, keep up the good work Charlie and i like you say please and thank you , well done . also how you lay all them brick is amazing i was quite fast as a brickie most i ever laid was 1200 brick in a day on a 9inch wall lol. NEVER AGAIN , hand built corners and loads of messing keep it simple good vids .
Its good to see you have come to your senses and finally using a proper trowel, instead of them 9 inch tin thing you and your new mate were trying to sell
I design sewage treatment works with a massive team of engineers and thought that was fairly specialised!! I have built a new entrance wall and gates thanks to your videos. You make it look so easy for a very skilled talent that you have. It is a pleasure to watch. Thanks Charlie
How do you get the block work down under the floor ?? They told us at collage not to get into "corner trouble" by doing the blocks first - stepping them out then the face bricks - is there a faster method like you have done ?? thanks
Eu também trabalho com construção civil faço reformas de casa apartamento comercial já tenho 14 anos de experiência no mercado de construção civil mas eu comecei ah pota vídeo agora mas já tenho um bom resultado 🎉parabéns pelo seu trabalho
Lubberly Jubberly Excellent Corner You make it look so easy but then to do the same as you have shown will come out fine OH i wish i was a youngan My Millionaire Dream would be achievable I pick things up so easy hence time in belmarsh Joking No i would make a great Bricklayer because i have patience and attention to Detail and I Wanna do it Do's that make sense ?? See you on the next one Bud.
Hi Charlie, again loving the videos mate 👌. Can you show in one of your next vids ideally how far the line should be away from your bricks. I’m not sure if I am setting mine up to close because I get a few areas that are not plumb as can be. Thank you in advance.
Worked in brickies union in Nee york, on d high risers, Always had 2 men building corners, keeping shead ofbd other brickies, filling in the wall, was efficent system,🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮
They used to send me down the drains to build the manholes, not sure if it was because I was good or terrible! Deepest manhole I built was 21 feet deep and built from Normanton engineering brick, I was bent over or crouched for days and could hardly straighten my back at the end of the week.
Many different ways to build, to build corners. Charlies way is efficient, which the thumbnail says. No wasted movements, no going back and forth. Personally wherever possible i always use profiles because its the most efficient and accurate if you know how to set them up properly.
That was shit hot effortless, did an apprenticeship myself in the early nineties, passed but didn’t get the experience from j Laings on site ,just labouring and had no time for me,gave it up year half later, did have the confidence, but got the skill for life.
Hay Charlie U know how U do the quick tape measure what is the depth ur looking at on each level and what measures are they supposed to be .. cheers Aaron from New Zealand 😎😎
I hit the level , most say its a no no , ive got a stanley level , and you could drive a truck over it , in Australia your bed would be dry laying 10 bricks
Building a corner prior to running in is redundant for cosmetic purposes because once you run the line in then look down the bed joint theres a kink where the both corners have been built, and it looks RAF. Using profiles, you get a nice straight bedjoint all the way through each course.. Can't believe this still has to be explained. lol
Been a brickie for 48 years and never used a profile in all these years Worked in central scotland all my days seem to use them a lot in england I can see the benifits of using a profile though
