Love your results! Wanted to share a fabulous discovery with the Ink Jet Printer! Ink Jet process: 1) HP professional business paper (glossy ish on both sides, but NOT photo paper) 2) Print using the pigment ink only. On my Cannon inkjet printer, selecting "business documents" (as opposed to plain paper or photo) is the setting that used the pigment ink only. 3) No initial paint required on the geli plate OR printed image; just place the printed side down directly on the plate, massage/check/massage, etc, until your image is transferred onto the plate (fairly quick process). 4) You can add a coat of matte medium and either pick up the image on a previous background, or let dry and do the reverse paint layers before picking up. I don't remember who discovered this inkjet technique, but it's fairly recent on RU-vid. I tested and am so excited that it actually works. Froyle, All the prints were great but the last 2 were breath taking. I am so in love. I would ask if you were doing digi's of them but my printer would never do them justice. So so good. I thought I had seen you use ink spray before on the plate . Do you use alcohol spray too? Now I am gonna go find a video to condition my plate because it’s been through a lot this week. I have had mixed results with image transfers. I love how cool they look so I’m not giving it up! My favorite is the Venice reflection. I’d put a frame around it and hang it as is! Your photos have added to my anticipation for my trip to Italy in April!

In northern CA I use Minute Man Press. Their color laser prints work perfect. Don’t bother printing it twice like some people recommend, once works fine.

Thank you for taking the time to show what happens with an inkjet print even though you knew it'd fail. I think a lot of people don't quite understand what the toner does or don't want to believe that inkjet copies don't work. This way there's no doubt about it!

This is very helpful. I have been trying to freshin up my gelli printing skills. I went and had some images printed at my local Staples in hopes that the type of paper and laser ink from them would work on my gelli plate, but I was not too successful. I will definitely try another company because I learned from both you and experience that "the print does matter."😆❤. I love the layers you add to the images as they dried. Those brush strokes are awesome. I'm adding these ideas to my list of "help techniques". Thanks so much for sharing these ideas.

Your Little Treasure is the most special. Visually, I find the print of the building in Venice the most stunning 🙂 Thanks for sharing making transfers with gold paint. Since I only have a few special magazine pages that I don't want to mess up, and laser copies are so expensive, this is one technique I hesitate to experiment with.

I love your videos and energy! I'm new to Gelli printing. On my first couple of attempts I've noticed that my brayer tends to pick up the paint instead of spreading it in a smooth layer. Does anyone know why that could be happening?

Nice! So tonight was my first attempt at anything, total newbie, tried to do an image transfer with no luck.😢Can’t figure out why unless my paint is drying too quick on the plate? Using Amsterdam Standard acrylic.😢😢Or my laser print isn’t good? Guess I’ll keep trying. You make it look too easy. 👍🏼

Another amazing video. I have had zero luck with image transfer, even though I have a great printer. Someone said it might have something to do with the quality of the paper. So far, I have only used regular laser printer paper. Do you use a specific type of paper?

I use regular laser printer paper but from a stationary shop, so maybe it’s the home printer? Try running the copy through twice 👍🏼 cheers 😘

I'm so sad - I've been trying to do the image transfers for a while unsuccessfully! I went to the printer - got color laser prints and, sadly, not a great result. I guess I'll have to try another printer but the copies are expensive. 😪

I am so new to collage , mixed media art and definitely have not have had luck with image transfers…can you not use an image directly from a magazine? Do they all need to be copied on photo paper? Thank you for your tutorials, they are very helpful, you may have addressed my question in this tutorial or previous ones, I may have missed it.

Try changing where you get your print copy from, or if it’s a home printer then try running the copy through twice! 😘 cheers

I really appreciate the need for color laser copies of your photos, but it’s VERY costly ($1 per copy) with no guarantee it’s going to work!! Guess you have to start with one. See if it works, then be very selective in choosing the photos you want to try to transfer. If you’re lucky you might be able to pull more than one print from your copy. I’ve resorted to using magazine photos as well as images from books with glossy pages cuz I’m on a severely limited budget.
