I agree the toughest thing when you go out on your own is keeping busy. A lot of people for some reason don't trust small companies. They think we're out to make a big ticket at there mercy but in reality it's the big companies who are the price bandits.

Exactly. Big companies and home warranty are the rip offs.

Can't count how many nights I have been up past midnight investigating and troubleshooting online lol. I live in a high traffic area I have more work than I can deal with just by word of mouth. My first year I also used offerup and then got onto warranty companies. Now I turn down work as a one man show...Being a Retired Vet I enjoy this more than I use it to put food on the table. Also would like to thank you again Walt for turning me onto the HVACi. I agree with going the extra mile as a sole prop especially because the profit will allow it. Be friendly in the supply house, alway ask and give information. Bottom line that's why I watch your Videos and listen to others as well because there's always someone that knows something you don't. I may not take every thing you use but I use bits and pieces to fine tune my operation. Thanks again for the great content Walt!!!

Walter, to be honest it really doesn't matter if you are black, white or brown the key to being successful is having the drive to do it. If you really want it you can do it. I watch all your videos brother, keep it up.
@WWHVAC
@WWHVAC 3 года назад
Roger, there are several factors that affect someone's success and for some unfortunately, having the drive only is not enough. It is crucial to inspire those who feel marginalised in society. I receive alot of messages in that regard and will continue to encourage others by sharing my story. As always thanks for watching!

Just do what you do. Every tech has a different way of troubleshooting. As long as it works for you and fix the issue that’s all that matters.

Thanks for the video. Been in the Trade a year now. Thinking about starting a business now but just to do things I'm comfortable with, PMs, motor change outs, no heat and no cool calls. Would even do minor installs. What you think about starting out like this 1 year in?

The AC Company we use, runs his business from out of his home garage. One trailer, three guys and one van. This guy works 7 days a week and is swamped with business. Does Residential and Commercial. When he does Installs, they replace everything. Most companies here just cut and tie into the line sets and use the old cat wire, this guy replaces it all... Most companies here will charge $6200 for a new Two ton package. His company charges $4300 and does a complete job.... Only problem is, he is so busy, sometimes its hard to get a hold of him right away.

I believe in most states they require you to be in a particular trade for 4 years before you can get your contractors license.
