Great question! In the 205 the governor assists in the start sequence. When the governor (GOV) is in the “auto” position it is working in conjunction with the fuel control to deliver a set amount of fuel for the start sequence. If you tried to start the 205 with the GOV in the “manual” position, and set the throttle like that. You are correct, you would cook the engine since ground idle fuel would be scheduled for delivery immediately when you pull the start trigger.
