This has to be one of the best education series ever made. I love the effort you put into the videos and the simplistic explanation of techniques using facts and science. I feel like this is the way I think about bikes so it's really natural to hear someone else explain things at the same level and logical approach. After riding for the last 10+ years and feeling kind of stale and plateaued I have a whole new desire to start practicing and training again. It's just really refreshing and I really appreciate it. Thanks Rich and IRC. Please keep em coming.

Thanks, good explanation but maybe showing what the hands are doing would help picture timing/coordination. Im trying to picture this. Also, a clip without the voice over would help understand the amount of revs needed. Also, I assume the techniques transfer the same to a 4T as well?

Hey Rich, I noticed that you don't really use that punch technique on completely vertical obstacles. Is that because the double blip is more controllable once you get up? I've noticed a lot of other riders using that really aggressive punch/roll up technique that looks kind of like a delayed splat and thought it looked pretty cool.
@EnduroPG

@@IRCTireUSAMoto I am struggling with the technique with either not lifting the front tire up enough and or keeping the front wheel in-line with bike when I hit the face of the obstacle. The clips in this video where it looks like you are in a backyard, are you using a combination of back or front brake mostly or no brakes at all? trying to gage the speed for using brakes

Hey Rich, i have some questions for you if you don't mind answering and if you get to see this. I am a up and coming hard enduro rider and love the sport but i am having trouble choosing a new bike, i have had a Yamaha 2006 wr 250f for most of my hard enduro riding and it has taking me places the most other riders cant get too, but its old very old and heavy but cheap to run. I am looking at a YZ 250x but have heard that it still lacks the low down power that the ktm and other brands have. I am 19, 5.8 and weigh 80 kgs ( 178 lbs). What would your suggestion be?
@stevenllewellyn8906
@stevenllewellyn8906 4 года назад
I’m not Rich, but I have a steel frame yz250 that I dumped a ton of money into and IMO they’re amazing. Only thing I wish It had was electric start. It has a ton of low end and chugs. I had to tone it way down. I put an 11oz Flywheel weight, 52 tooth rear sprocket, 18” rear with a shinko cheater tire, Lectron carb, Rekluse auto clutch, Rekluse rear hand brake, Tubliss front & rear, o ring chain, G2 throttle, 2011 yz450F SSS suspension & had them built. Plus all the armor and small stuff needed. I wouldn’t trade it for anything rite now. It does EVERYTHING and is reliable as hell.

It's more of momentum and inertia from loading/unloading while "blipping" the clutch/throttle that induces the propulsion of one's body...but I am far from an expert like Rich! -just observations I've taken because if I'm not riding I try to watch and visualize movements & feelings! Much better than a lot of videos but as with all the others, there was no description on when to deliver the 2nd burst of throttle and whether or not you leave the clutch out or pop the clutch and then pull it back in or get off the throttle in order to make the rear wheel lift. I can't find any video that accurately describes these bits of the technique... Subsequently, I can't do a zap for toffee...

@IRCTireUSAMoto 4 года назад
I explained it. If you notice at 1:23 you can see the clutch working during the double blip. One slip of the clutch to lift the front tire and another as the front tire hits the obstacle. I continue explaining the separation of the two blips and slips of the throttle and clutch at 1:30. I also mention the timing of when to give a second "Blip" and "Slip" of Throttle and Clutch as soon as the front tire hits the obstacle. It's all in there.
