Just out of interest why not go for a power supply like the strymon Zuma? 500ma in 9 outs so would have free up the ability to double up or mason have you ever looked at the gig rig stuff?
@alexphlynn6750
@alexphlynn6750 5 лет назад
I agree, or at least a 4X tapped off a 12 volt dc from the True Tone to allow 4 more 500mA outs. And dual-lock tape it under the riser.
@VertexEffectsInc
@VertexEffectsInc 5 лет назад
The Zuma wouldn’t change the necessity for a second power supply. I like the Strymon stuff as well, but at the end of the day we would’ve needed two power supplies. I think they’re not necessarily better or worse, Truetone versus Strymon, it’s just a preferential thing - Since we already had the true tone CS12, we went with the true tone CS7 to complete.

When you wire up a board that is this tight, how do you think about separation/isolation of audio and power cables? It seems impossible to make sure they only cross at 90 degree angles or don’t sit too close in parallel.
@VertexEffectsInc
@VertexEffectsInc 5 лет назад
If you map it out before it goes down it’s easier to keep track - with low voltage there is less of an issue, but AC power is problematic if you don’t isolate it in terms of proximity.

We talked about this in the initial set up, it wasn’t a concern, you can cheat your foot off the board quite a bit and in all honesty the riser couldn’t go any further back, however you can see the volume pedal a little further toward the edge of the Pedalboard if needed

Jumping those 2 PSU's together as you did and leaving the 3 pongs of one of them exposed (here the small one) is not safe at all. It's basically an accident waiting to happen. Better find a way to insulate that unused IEC entry module somehow.

Should mount a cable grommet in the hole you drilled in the power supply to protect the 110v insulation from getting cut by a sharp hole. Wikipedia cable grommet.

@VertexEffectsInc 5 лет назад
Bob, you might’ve heard in the dialogue that I mention that I use this, however the B roll footage of the editors selected did not reflect post installation - it’s there! However, if the AC cord is zip tied, it would be difficult to provide friction and movement that could result in the insulator being damaged or risking a short.

why is he not using the MIDI capability of the ES8 or even its tap tempo?
@VertexEffectsInc

The midi capability is being used for all of the pedals that accept MIDI. We didn’t want to sacrifice an instant access foot switch, or a preset foot switch for tap tempo, and preferred to have a global synchronized tap tempo on the bottom right.

Question : Do people pay you for your pedal board builds? What you did with the power supplies, not only voids the warranty but if that cable frays from rubbing against the metal case, is not only amateur but dangerous. The least you could do is put a grommet to secure it.

Love it! Hey, how do you know which pedals can share power, versus which pedals should always be isolated, to prevent noise/weirdness/damage/etc.? I'm running out of outputs on my Voodoo Pedal Power, but one of those is powering a Polytune Mini. I'm guessing it's safe to daisy chain a pedal a pedal or three together, just not sure which pedals to safely chain power on?
@madshauge6972
@madshauge6972 5 лет назад
There is a couple of things u have to consider. First off, NEVER daisy chain pedals that run with different voltage. You can run 2 pedals at 9 volt if one is 9V and the other is 9-18V in the same output. But NOT the other way around, you`ll fry your pedal if you run 12, 15 or 18 volt into a 9 volt pedal Secondly pedals ofc have no problems and stuff if u run everyone isolated. The thing ur mainly asking about is running two or more pedals on the same output. The thing u have to do is look at the output in terms of milliamps. (mA). A lot of power supplys typicly have 100mA isoltaed output. If u have two pedals that uses 25 and 37 mA u can easily have a daisy chain and put them on the same output. However some pedals use about a 100 mA and u would stuggle if u then hook up another one who uses 50 or something mA. This prisiple aplies inn all situations. So a 400mA could in theory power 4 pedals with 100 mA each. (this is pushing it though, but it will work) =) To figure out what ur pedal is using in terms of power. Just search for the pedal and add the words "current draw" and you should find an online manual or something telling you what they use! Hope this answered the question =)
@jesseleite
@jesseleite 5 лет назад
@@madshauge6972 Thanks! I mostly understand the math regarding voltage and milliamps. But it's common to isolate to avoid noise problems and ground leak issues, etc. right? Which types of pedals benefit more from isolation (noise-wise, etc.), versus which types of pedals play nicely together when sharing non-isolated power?

lowrence mayfield all preference man haha I have a: Volume pedal -> Fulldrive 2 -> Blues Driver -> Analog Delay -> DD-3 -> RV6. And I couldn’t be happier. The whole board all runs into a Joyo British sound when I have to run direct in PA, but is also very amp friendly (SS or Tube)

We looked at all options and cheating the foot off the front makes it not so problematic and keeps it in the Pelican case we designed it around.

People seem to love this board, and it's ok, I suppose. However, am I the only one who thinks this board looks incredibly congested? I mean, there are cables right on top of buttons and switches. And in some places it looks hard to get to knobs. It looks organized, but also crowded. I dunno, maybe it's just me.
@VertexEffectsInc
@VertexEffectsInc 2 года назад
This is the sacrifice you make in order to have it all compact as possible with lots of pedals. Also the switcher controls all pedals so once the settings are dialed in, you don't need to make many adjustments.
@RumbleFish69
@RumbleFish69 2 года назад
@@VertexEffectsInc I suppose some sacrifices have to be made. Ironically enough, I do enjoy this old school cluttered look, but I guess if it delivers, that's all that really matters. I did get some great placement ideas, so there's that, I suppose! Thanks!

#1 - “worship musicians” may buy gear, but I’d bet that they buy gear because they’re musicians, and not because they’re theists #2 - might pull on some people with that shit, but it’s at least partially responsible for the fact that I don’t : use Kyser Capos; watch the 60-cycle hum podcast; own any Wampler pedals; buy much gear from Sweetwater .... the list goes on. Keep it secular, please. I’d bet that the musician market share is significantly less Christian than the general public.
