I am using a 17-18 year old rubber dome keyboard. It has been in use ever since it came free with a computer we got then. The actuation force obviously isn't as high as once upon a time, but it is still quite nice to type on. My next keyboard will be a mech one, but it may be a while a way based on how well this is lasting xD TL;DR, membrane keyboards can totally last a very long time. Also not all membrane keyboards are created equally, some are utter trash, others are quite adequate.

+1 Please try to type without bottoming out every key when you're doing reviews, I can punch the odd key pretty hard, but I'm hearing more noise from the frame of the keyboard than anything in these comparisons.

@budthecyborg4575
@budthecyborg4575 8 лет назад
If you have fun typing like you're performing in a rock band, more power to you. Actually, Cherry switches are still much better in that scenario. The actuation mechanism in a Cherry switch works the same no matter how hard you press the key, you're just smashing your keycaps on the switch housing, where a membrane keyboard bottoms out on the signal transmitting pad itself, thus, membrane keyboards have a low life expectancy. Anyway, the point I was trying to make is that there isn't much point in doing a sound comparison between switches if you're smashing them, the build of the keyboard mostly determines what noise it makes at that point. If you're a smasher you should specifically look for plate mounted switches, which is generally more expensive but the keyboard will have a lot less flex and the keys should hove more of a dull "thud" when you hit them.

ever since i changed from a rubber dome keyboard to a mechanical one, it has been amazing for my typing. I was very slow on the membrane, vs with my strafe rgb browns, it has been very satisfying to type and game on, especially with the included rubber contoured key caps for the wasd/moba configs.

Just picked up a Tt eSports Poseidon RGB for $50 on Amazon. It feature Kaihl Blue switches and damn good RGB lighting. Construction quality is good and there is no flex in the board. Software is clunky but it does give you full RGB control and some lighting effects plus macros. Its my first experience with mechanical keyboards and I already love it. I can see myself investing in several more boards featuring different switches by other brands.

The thing i look for in a keyboard is good minimalist design, not over the top, and the media control is also a big plus. I love my K95 RGB, it fits my needs, i could spare the left macros (since i never use them) but the media control is nice for me! and i like just to put white lights in it, since it's not to childish.

Here in India, we have a Cherry MX Blue key based keyboard from TVS Electronics. They are stupidly sturdy, great typing experience, and very very cheap at approx $35. Most of us who want a better keyboard just go for this without second thoughts. Yes, it isn't meant for gaming, but its better than feeling those squishy keys from other keyboards, even at 3 times the price. Almost all of the PSUs in India use them at their offices and are rumoured to have been usable for more than 10 years. Yes, the model is pretty old, but still more than sufficient given the price and demography. Maybe, someday you guys get to review it.

I -could- live without a mechanical keyboard, I currently am using the Quickfire Rapid-I (newer model with Cherry Blues), and I love it, and I love the size as I throw it in my backpack pretty often (Although I do miss having a number pad). It's like a luxury though, I could live without having mechanical switches but it just makes typing that much better. Honestly as far as gaming, I don't think mechanical switches matter too much for me personally, but for typing, it's a world of difference.

A good review of a hybrid membrane keyboard/mouse combo. I would only advise recommending this type of item set to consumers that need an upgrade to an old computer setup that needs both an upgrade to the keyboard and mouse. I cannot recommend this purchase to any players using any advanced items that already have mechanical keyboards or fine tuned mouses. In order for this item to warrant consideration by the average consumer, the price needs to drop below the 30 dollar range because there are far too many competitors with similar designs that are more affordable. Currently, there are more than a dozen actual mechanical keyboards that are selling in the 35 to 60 dollar range to justify considering this item. In fact, off the top of my head, these mechanical keyboards are selling in the 35 to 60 dollar range right now - Gamdias, Azio, Ajazz, Eagletec, Rosewill, Corsair, etc. It is best to get this as a gift if it ever goes below 30 dollars as a combo otherwise even a simple mechanical keyboard is preferable in the long term.

I actually like the fact that they didn't include an ambidextrous mouse. Since only 10% of people are left handed, it would be better to provide a mouse that perfectly fits 90% of the consumers rather than an uncomfortable mouse for everybody.

I use a mechanical keyboard at home, and use an ergonomic dome keyboard at work. The typing experience is obviously not as pleasant at work; however, I'd have to spend approximately 500-600$ CDN for an ergonomic mechanical keyboard. Don't have the money right now due to purchasing a GTX 1070 recently XD. I don't have the choice in the situation at work; however, I would obviously opt for a mechanical ergonomic keyboard if it was an option.

For folks who don't wanna pay much there is stuff like A4Tech. You can get 3050/3305 for 15$ instead of 40$ from Steelseries and Roccat. Albeit in a low quality plastic shell but it can withstand a whole year of extensive usage and then you just buy another one and it is still cheaper than topbrands. btw their G300 keyboard is probably the best membrane 10$ board ever. Although I have to admit it dies after 2 years.

I've always whanted a mechanical keyboard, so when i first got it i got plesantly suprised on how much easier it was to type fast. however, i got very very very let down by the Romer G switches. they keyboard is great and the caps are ok, but the switches really grinded my gears. The Romer G switches felt basically like an lighter version of an membrane, only with a way shorter actuation point. in the videos i watched so many of on youtube about this keyboard, the sound was no ware close to this plastic sound, and i wish i would have gone for a Cherry mx blue or Kayle Blue switches because i i like clicky and very noticable bumbs, which the Romer G was not desinged for.

I don't know why is it such a problem to put not cherry, but at least _gateron/outemu/kailh_ switches in these keyboards. They cost 0,3$ each (for me, they would cost less for CM, because of the quantity) and people would buy it much more. I have a *fully RGB mechanical* (true mechanical switches) *keyboard* for just £37 including shipping and it's awesome. Those companies are digging a hole under themselves. Don't get me wrong... K70 Lux? K65? Now that's a keyboard that deserves its price, but this? Naaah. It's just another "feel like mechanical" keyboard. "Mem-mechanical" *what the fuck*. Anyways... great video and to answer your question... after I bought my first mechanical keyboard, no, I can't live without it. It's always a struggle when I have to type on that shitty keyboard in the college, it's almost unbelievable how much better the keyboard can be.

Like I said, the company would have buy insane amounts of those, so I expect the price would be something like 0,07-0,1$ each. Which is about 14$ in the worst case, that could be added to the price, I don't think there would be problem with that. _59$ for a __-terrible-__ I mean normal RGB membrane + mouse_ *73$ for fully mechanical, RGB + mouse* which one sounds better?

Alan Smirnov Motospeed CK104 RGB Inflictor, I bought it on GearBest, but it is now available on eBay and also on Amazon, but on Amazon it's rebranded and more expensive. EDIT: It's for £40 including shipping on amazon, so that's amazing.

I read in some reviews that the 'Steady support housing' is the weakspot with these switches, and that they even break after heavy use, rendering you keyboard useless if it hits important buttons. How much force can they take before they break? Also negative for me: the symmetrical mouse doesn't have sidebuttons on the right side only left. Rather spend my money on cherry switches. This set looks rather cheap but it's probably enough for an entry set.

K70 rapidfire + mx master 2s - that's the badass montage system, which I have. They come so nice together. Both looks premium, both comfortable.

I honestly have a hard time adjusting to regular membrane switches after my first and second mechanical keyboards. It is really hard to go back to rubber dome switches.

I have been using this keyboard for a couple of months now and i'm liking it very much so far. The only complaint i have is the backlight shines way too much from the spaces between the keys and not enough through the keycaps. I might try to solve this by taping the spaces underneath the keys with electrical tape so light only comes from the caps.

In my specific case, I got a daskeyboard 4 ultimate (brown) with a hefty discount, I couldn't go back to membrane keyboards... so much that I got a g710+ (brown) for my office as well, can't see my self go back :P

The main change a mechanical keyboard has bought to life is me pissing off everybody I skype with as I mash away at the keys and drown everything else out :D Honestly, I could live without a mechanical keyboard, but as long as it was a half decent membrane keyboard and not a ridiculously mushy one.

You said they should've made the mouse ambidextrous, failing to consider that if you're going to use a left-handed mouse for gaming, you 100% need a fully rebindable board to get anything done in the vast majority of games. I'm of the mind that you should try your damnedest to use a right handed mouse regardless of initial preferences purely because of how many devs fail to make these considerations. But if you absolutely need to do otherwise, you're gonna need to pony up a little bit more to buy something with on-board storage and near complete rebinding (w/ some sort of hotkey to swap layouts quickly so you can type properly as well).

Personally i am with you i cannot live without mechanical keyboards, i am spoiled with how smooth they feel like in my college i cannot use those simple membrane keyboards they feel so bad and cheap.

I think the mouse can go up to 3500 dpi. I think I heard the reviewer mentioned 2000 dpi though.

As someone who is left handed wth its not a priority at all to have a L) mouse we've grown up w the L) pressing macros/keys so it not like it's wasted dexterity

now that I own a mechanical keyboard I can never go back to a membrane. just isn't as nice. I got the Ducky Shine 5 and oh man is this keyboard amazing. currently using cherry browns because blues are just way too annoying.

when is this combo coming to South Africa....?
@milanventer4297

Uhhmm... maybe in time for Christmas... next year. Any I wouldn't get your hopes up because it is probably going to cost around R1500 because of "volatile" exchange rates, shipping cost, import duties, or some other excuse companies use to charge double the US pricing.

+Milan Venter yea I know all about those ... but sometimes online stores like evetech n takealot price their hardware decently
@milanventer4297
@milanventer4297 8 лет назад
+cebisa yika I dunno so much about evetech since they sell products exclusively from a handful of manufacturer (when looking a mobos, gpus and cases) and therefore always feels a bit like incredible connection who bank on ill-informed buyers, but raru, loot, rebeltech and takealot are all very decent and keep up with the latest release. I just wish they could supply stuff from lesser known companies like Tomoko or something, but i understand its not up to them, but rather the wholesaler they buy from.
@c3bza
@c3bza 8 лет назад
+Milan Venter so true popularity drives the market I just wish those products would be at least cheaper ,been looking to upgrade my GPU n can't find anything decent for the budget I have which is R2000..
@milanventer4297
@milanventer4297 8 лет назад
The best thing you'll find for that price is an Rx 460. Just keep your eyes peels and regularly check on mygaming.co.za, as the prices of older gpus will decrease now with nvidias 10 series gpu and amd's rx line up. I managed to get a gtx 970 and an ssd last week for about half the price of any other retailer on rebeltech, because i think theyre trying to get rid of old stock.

the comparison with Cherry MX blues is incorrect, you should have either use tactile (brown/clear) or linear (red/black) for comparison.
