Looking forward to the Maketoys versions of Brainstorm and Highbrow. Don't have Lupus. Still holding out for one at a price I'm willing to pay. I hope someone eventually does the Decepticon Targetmasters.
I'm just hoping maketoys finishes their headmasters. I have the hardhead and chromedome with the upgrades. Gimme the last two and I'm good. Fanstoys finally finished the decepticon headmasters. KFC gave us Apeface and Snapdragon. All we need is a standalone Skorponok head and we done. Fans-hobby did the powermasters and headmasters Jr's. Still need proper decepticon targetmasters. Slugslinger, Misfire and triggerhappy.
we need the 2 autobot headmasters, the 3 decepticon targetmasters, 2 autobot targetmasters and scorponok headmaster (like cerebros). that will please a lot of head.masters collectors
I'm glad that fans toys is starting with Chromedome. Gives Maketoys the opportunity to finish their Highbrow and Brainstorm. I want to finish the Maketoys set, and then I will also go in on the Fanstoys set. But one set at a time, and let's finish strong, Maketoys!!👍
The original price for Lupus was $145. It was priced the same as Maketoys Chromedome and Hardhead. Price dropped after Lupus shelf warmed at BBTS for 2 years for around $80
Thrilling 30 Brainstorm was more or less the IDW one from wherever the IDW comics were at the time. Wei Jiang did OSKOs of the TR Autobot Headmasters (or at least Brainstorm, Hardhead, & Chromedome), but like their OSKO of T30/LG10 Arcee, they're basically bumped up to Voyager... Headmaster Juniors from Transformers: Chou-jin Masterforce...in Japanese G1, they're kids (and a couple older teens/young adults for the Decepticons) that have lifeless Transtector bodies they become the heads of. The Autobots are...: • Go-Shooter, a police car. His name as a Transformer is a wordplay on his own name, Shuta Gou. Hasbruh's version is Siren, later renamed Loudmouth for trademark crap. • Cab, a fire truck. He's a straight up foreigner, probably not as super stereotyped as literally everybody in the original G1, but yeah. Goofy and a bit of a slacker. Hasbruh's version is Hosehead w/Lug. • Minerva, a rescue cruiser. The caring cutie on duty relegated to the medical stuff. She's apparently half French or something, I forgot (only Shuta is straight up Japanese); like Ginrai (who's Japanese American), she wasn't even born in Japan. Hasbruh's version is the repaint Nightbeat. The Decepticons are...: • Cancer, the crab thingy. Youngest of the Decepticons and reluctantly switches sides after being left to die. (Similar crap happens to Doubleclouder/Doubledealer...) Has a huge crush on Minerva, possibly moreso than Shuta & Cab. Hasbruh's version is Squeezeplay. • Bullhorn, the bull. The strongman, probably rivaling Overlord's Lord Giga. A former thug who killed his gang once he gets his Transtector. Hasbruh's version is Horri-bull. Which sounds wicked until you realize it's a lame play on the word "horrible". 🙄 • Wilder, the winged wolf. A wild man and another former gangbanger...I need to watch again, but I think that his gang was a rival faction of Bullhorn's. He kills his gang off once he gets his Transtector after some stuff goes down and they try to kick him outta the gang. Hasbruh's version is Fangry. The Headmaster Juniors and the Godmasters/Powermasters overshadowed the Pretenders almost immediately. How bad? Metalhawk - the Autobot Leader at the start of the show, hands leadership over to Ginrai after he finds & recruits Lightfoot, Road King, & Ranger...nevermind that Metalhawk is far more experienced!! Then again, the Decepticon Pretenders were always comic relief...them clowns make the Dinoforce look like the cool kids table.
Funny enough the best looking versions of the Autobot headmasters (the Japan version, with different coloring and heads than the US ones) are the legends Vecma/MFT ones from some 3-4 years back (recently reissued) 😊
I didn't realize Brainstorm was more popular than the rest. He was always my least favorite. I always liked Highbrow and Chromedome. My hope for any MP versions is their size is between the MP car bots and the MP seekers. I hated how the G1 headmasters were so much bigger than all the rest of the toys. But that is just my preference.
I think his popularity is due partly from nostalgia in Rebirth, I think he may have had the most lines of the new cast, and his treatment in IDW comics.
He was hard to get in the Hasbro TR line because of his Walgreens exclusivity then in the retro reissue he sold out way faster than any of the others. For me he was the first G1 headmaster I bought back in the day
It would be good to compare the actual Headmaster, Targetmaster, and Godmaster (Powermaster) minifigs between these different brands too. They're all over the place in terms of scale. For example, how do the MT AB minifigs compare to the FT CON minifigs?
@@tydiriumhanger1320 No I mean I’m not wasting anymore cash on figures anymore. But it’s been a lifetime waiting for the final headmaster figures from maketoys
Got the fans toys decepticon ones the have more bad guys on the shelf. But don’t care enough about the characters to pay current ft prices so I hope make toys can finish them out fast and at a good price.
